    Maria Keable and Deirdre Carrington

Maria Keable and Deirdre Carrington terrorized their six children for over nine years – forcing the kids (all under the age of 16) to eat tablespoons of chili powder and raw eggs. For an after-dinner treat they stung the children with nettles if they failed to do their chores.

The children were also hit with various objects and kicked around.

Maria Keable, a 60-year-old Macedonian, believed “her motives were Christian”.

These two Mormons annoyed the judge.

    Judge Timothy Nash said:

The sort of conduct you displayed to these children was reminiscent of Victorian times in this country and indeed, in certain religious spheres, was reminiscent of the 1950s. This was a case of sustained cruelty that some would say bordered on torture. It had a sadistic element to it. You were undoubtedly, Maria, obsessed with punishment. You behaved like a hospital matron of the 19th century, bullying the children in an unforgivable way.

Judge Nash also told Maria Keable:

It’s no good you saying ‘this is what we did in Macedonia’. You have been over here for 40 years, you know how we live over here and that’s what makes your part in this so wrong.

The pair were sentenced to 19 months in prison.

Hmmn…. It puzzles me as why exactly these POS thought that being from macedonia gave them the right to abuse the kids… And surprise surprise… They used the ‘we are christians and therefore good people’ line… There is nothing very christian about their actions anyway, but how arrogant to assume that they should be believed simply on those grounds! Nineteen months is a pathetic sentence, it makes me wonder if this has happened before and gone unpunished? Child abuse on any level should be dealt with severely regardless of the nationality or religious convictions of the perpetrator, neither of these excuses or any others are or ever will be valid!

      Hello!
I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment but i’ll leave it eitherway.
Been reading your site for weeks now, going from the first page till the last one. Amazing job.

One thing tho.. The country you refer as ‘Macedonia’ does not exist. I’m pretty sure you’re referring to F.Y.R.O.M or Republic of Macedonia which is the appropriate name for this country. Macedonia is a region of Greece and despite the last years of (F.Y.R.O.M./RoM’s) continually effort to be renamed to Macedonia, it’s still not recognized as Macedonia but Republic of Macedonia/F.Y.R.O.M.

I’m not hoping or demanding the chance of the whole entry or start a flamewar just throwing this out. Just for your information.

      Kind regards,
      Natasha P.

19 months? Seriously? And what about the poor kids? They were tortured for 9 YEARS! Someone please tell me that these sorry excuses for sperm and egg donors won’t be getting those poor babies back after that?
