This was Patrick Knight.
Patrick Knight shot two of his neighbors on the 26th of August, 1991. Patrick Knight and his friend Robert Bradfield broke into the home of Mary Ann and Walter Werner in order to burglarize it. Unfortunately for the couple, they returned home during the burglary and Patrick Knight and Robert Bradfield locked them in the basement of the property. On the night of the 27th of August the two were put in their van, driven into the countryside and shot in the head by Patrick Knight.
According to his Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals petition filed in June of 2006:
Around midnight on Tuesday, Knight bound, gagged, and blindfolded the couple, forced them into their own van, and drove them to a location in the country about four miles away from their home. He made them get out of the van and kneel, and then he shot each of them in the back of the head, execution-style. He dragged their bodies into a ditch on the side of the road and returned to his trailer house and went to sleep.
Mr. Knight evidently has a profile on MySpace that was set up for him by Doreen Hawk - an anti-death penalty advocate.
On this page, Mr. Knight requested that his MySpace friends submit jokes - his favorite of which will be told by the convicted killer on June 26th, the night of his execution. He had about 250 jokes submitted.
Is Mr. Knight a funny guy?
According to reports, while he was in jail waiting for his chance before a judge, he wasn’t exactly the model inmate. He threatened to kill guards, himself and other inmates. He also was able to procure a jury list of the people who would be presiding over his trial. He spent much of his time in solitary confinement when, after a shakedown, he was found to have a screwdriver, a razor blade and a rope in his cell.
Oh yeah. Life of the party.
Patrick Knight was executed on the 26th of June, 2007. Before he was killed, he stated:
Death has set me free; that’s the biggest joke. I deserve this. And the other joke is I am not Patrick Bryan Knight, and ya’ll can’t stop this execution now.
