Paul Callow
Quite the famous rapist, in the mid-1980′s.
Before he was caught, Mr. Callow prowled through Toronto looking for likely victims – women living alone. Once he found a promising target, he would then break into the apartments, which were on the second or third floors of their buildings, threaten his victims with a knife and tie them up – raping them for up to 90 minutes at a time.
Mr. Callow was recently released after serving his full 20-year sentence for having raped several women in the Toronto area in the mid-1980s, before his identity became known, he was called the Balcony Rapist. Evidently the people who served on his parole board hearings felt he was extremely likely to reoffend.
They possibly felt this way because he refused any treatment while in prison and sexually assaulted a prison worker.
Once released, he was recognized and chased out of the first town he settled down in, so now he’s living in Vancouver in an emergency shelter.
Real estate agents will tell you – people don’t like living next to rapists. They drive down property values.
Glenn Flett, an ex-convict who runs a prisoner support group called LINC, warned against ostracizing Callow and making the situation worse.
“I’m frustrated by this case,” said Flett. “It is a difficult, difficult thing for the community to have this man living with them, but it’s also foolish to try to chase him out. There’s no evidence that’s a safe thing to do, and it certainly isn’t going to solve the problem.”
So please, if you see Mr. Callow on the streets of Vancouver, do not ostracize him or make him feel unwelcome in any way. You might make the situation worse and he might feel the need to rape someone else.

Once a piece of shit, always a piece of shit. I’ve read the document claiming that Callow is reformed, but the fact is he isn’t. They even acknowledge that he is very informed as to the theories and programs — as all psychos, he knows what the want to hear and know what to say to get through the programs. Alcohol is one of the things he identified as being a bad thing for himself, his urges and propensity to “act out” — aka rape someone.
So, guess what? He’s on the road to re-offend big time and, being in Canada, we are given no protection.
‘Balcony rapist’ gets probation for breaching parole

The “balcony rapist” Paul Callow is seen in this 2007 file photo. Callow has been given a suspended sentence for breaching his parole conditions.
The man known as Toronto’s “balcony rapist” has been given a suspended sentence for twice breaching his parole conditions.
Paul Callow was arrested in the Vancouver suburb of Coquitlam in February for drinking alcohol, something he was banned from doing when released from prison three years ago. He pleaded guilty to that breach on June 29.
Callow was also facing three charges of assault, one charge of uttering threats and another breach of his conditions after a domestic disturbance in Coquitlam on April 22.
He was also found guilty of that breach on June 29.
Court records showed that Callow had intended to plead guilty to the assault and threat charges on Wednesday, but they were instead stayed.
For the breaches, Callow was given a suspended sentence and one year of probation, meaning the sentence is suspended until the end of Callow’s probation. If there are no further offences at the end of that year, there will be no sentence.
On Aug. 20, Callow is scheduled to go to trial in New Westminster, B.C., on an unrelated charge of failing or refusing to provide a breath sample.
Callow was released from federal prison in 2007 after serving his full 20-year sentence for a series of violent, knifepoint rapes in the Toronto area.
After stalking his victims to ensure they lived alone, the five-foot-four, 125-pound Callow would scale the outside of their apartment buildings and enter through their balcony doors.
