    Stephen Slater

Savagely beat on an 89-year-old woman, took her purse and pushed her to the ground, leaving her for dead.

    Heroin’s a hell of a drug.

Mr. Slater’s judge came to the conclusion that the cowardly drug addict needed to spend some time away from both heroin and elderly women as he sentenced Mr. Slater to nine years in a U.K. prison.

    From the story:

Judge Tony Lancaster told Slater: “Your motive I’m sure was to steal money to fund your expensive addiction to heroin.

“You ran away from the scene to a waiting car, leaving her lying helpless on the pavement, caring not a jot for what had happened to her.

“This was a cowardly and despicable act, you lurked in the vicinity of the bus stop until you found an easy target then used enough force to break her bones. It must have been obvious she was a frail and vulnerable woman and that some injuries were a virtual certainty.

“The quality of Mrs Hogarth’s life has been seriously affected and it’s not likely she will fully recover. Not only did you steal her £30 but by your actions you also stole her independence.”

    Hell prognosis: High.
