Hmmm..where to begin, where to begin?
Let’s see, to give you an idea of what kind of idiot 23-year-old Jeremy Allan Steinke was, he regularly told his friends that he was a 300-year-old werewolf.
Yup.
He also dated Jasmine Richardson, a 12-year-old girl.
Yup.
Oh yeah, there was also the small matter of the killing of his 12-year-old girlfriend’s family – Marc Richardson, his wife Debra, and their 8-year-old son Jacob.
Hey, if you’re dating a 12-year-old and her parents ground her from seeing her 23-year-old – uh, I mean 300-year-old – werewolf boyfriend, they just have to die, don’t they?
Friends of the family later explained that Jasmine’s family was furious about her relationship with Jeremy Steinke, and neighbors reported that they had heard loud fighting during the last few weeks coming from the home.
Jasmine had been grounded for about a month when she decided that her family had to go.
On April 22nd of 2006, Jasmine and Jeremy went through the house and stabbed everyone to death.
Jasmine Richardson’s father was stabbed 24 times and her mother was stabbed 12 times.
Jacob Richardson, who was four-feet, four-inches and weighed 68 pounds, died from a severed jugular vein and had four stab wounds to his face and chest, according to forensic testimony.
The autopsy suggested Jacob was also strangled.
Two hours after her father, mother and eight-year-old brother were killed, Jasmine Richardson and Jeremy Steinke were kissing and laughing at a nearby restaurant.
Young love.
Evidently the pair had met earlier in 2006 at a punk rock concert. Jasmine, being the typically stupid and easily-manipulated 12-year-old that she was, looked up to Steinke and quickly became enamored with the “goth” lifestyle.

There were several indicators that this guy wasn’t right in the head.
“Whatever floats your boat,” was a typical response by his friends to Steinke’s claims of lycanthropy.
His friends thought he was just “talking tough” when he suggested that they not come with another friend for a walk along the river.
A 22-year-old acquaintance of Steinke, Daniel Clark, said, “He said, ‘I wouldn’t suggest it. We’ll tear you limb from limb.’ I said, ‘Excuse me?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, I’ll eat you.”
At this point, Mr. Clark said the right thing; “You come near me and I swear to God, I have a baseball bat in my shop. I’ll beat you up.”
If only he had.
Now, during the trial, Jeremy Steinke’s best friend, James Whalley, testified that after the slaying, Mr. Steinke bragged about how the little boy had “gargled” as he bled out from the stabbing. Jeremy Steinke also told Mr. Whalley that Steinke and Richardson had “gutted the whole family like fish.”
While Steinke was revealing all this information to his best friend, Whalley was amazed that the murderer was just sitting there, telling him all this.
“They were calm mannered … completely like mellow, every-day conversation,” he said.
Jasmine Richardson has been testifying in the past few days. From her testimony:
“He yells at me, ‘Stab him, just stab him! Slit his throat!”‘
“I said, ‘I can’t, I can’t,’ and he said, ‘You have to. I did this for you.”‘
Her brother pleaded with her for his life, saying, “I’m scared. I’m too young to die.”
So she stabbed her little brother in the chest. Jeremy Steinke finished the job by slitting the boy’s throat.
What was Richardson’s reason for doing all this?
“I loved him so much. I thought it would bring us closer together,” she said.

On July 9, 2007, Jasmine Richardson was found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder in the killings.
During the trial, the girl testified she was in a “zombie” state at the time of the killings and was unable to stop her boyfriend, or go for help.
She admitted in court that she and her boyfriend used to talk about killing her parents prior to the slayings, but she insisted she was only joking at the time.
Testimony revealed that on March 20th, three days before the killings, Jasmine had told a friend that she was going to kill her parents, but her friend laughed it off.
Jasmine’s response? “Fine. Don’t believe me.”
She will be sentenced on August 23, 2007 and faces a maximum of 6 years imprisonment and 4 years of probation, which is the maximum penalty for a person under 14 years of age. She is currently the youngest person in Canadian history to be convicted of a multiple murder.

Lord, the 12 year old girl is probably worse! How could she stab her mom, dad, and little brother? That makes me sick to think about, because my little brother is that age. The girl must not be right in the head (just like her idiotic boyfriend). I don’t see how someone can kill their own parents! My parents get on my nerves all the time but how could anyone ever want to kill them?
First off, let it be known that I do not condone pedophilia. That said, let’s not place all the blame on Jeremy for this horrific crime. I have read that he was the manipulator in this crime. Bah, Look at Jasmine. Little girl yes….and also a little hottie. Girls learn at a young age that they have amazing powers, between their legs. Unfortunately, Jeremy succumbed to her manipulations. Love….nah…lust, yeah.
It’s unfortunate that Jasmines’ family payed the price for this twisted relationship.
So as per the trial, the information thus far is that the actual acts of stabbing her mother and father were committed by Steinke, while Jazmine used a knife to slit her little brother’s throat at the same time as Steinke was performing the other murders. She had threatened to break up with him if he didn’t go through with the murders. She is definitely one very sick and twisted little girl (who continuously pretended to be older than she was – 15 or 16) – but it certainly sounds like there was no love lost between her and her parents. I’m guessing she’ll never feel remorse for what she did – it was coldly and brutally calculated – and carried through to plan.
I only wish there was some way we could make sure she didn’t get out she turns 20. I understand the purpose of the young offenders act, but some crimes seem so heinous that you really wish you could bypass it.
While Steinke rots in a prison cell for 25 to life, the one who seems to have provided the impetus for the horror will be out and walking around just in time to enjoy legal adulthood.
She may get out, but will she have changed enough to avoid problems with the law in the future?
I have a feeling that what she’s done will haunt her for some time to come.
I’m utterly in shock over this. Just reading the discriptions from testimony, my stomach is churning. It’s like it’s being played out in my head as I’m reading this. You wouldn’t think that your own child would ever do something so evil. I think the biggest problem was that nobody ever took Jeremy Steinke out to the street and beat the ever-loving crap out of him.
I wish there were a hell for these two, but I am afraid there isn’t. I agree wholeheartedly with poster 11 (Admin), but would go even further. Last year, in a very sad case out of Saskatchewan, a decent, loving farmer who was concerned about his 14-year-old daughter’s future (her boyfriend was a crack dealer in his mid-20s) took matters into his own hands and shot the bastard to death. Dad was convicted of second-degree murder, and sentenced to 10 years. But hopefully will be out after serving 6 (he was credited with time served while in custody awaiting trial and would be eligible for parole after serving 6). The most moving part of the story was that single, righteous act of violence snapped his daughter out of her “love-lust insanity” because she broke down in court on Dad’s sentencing and sobbed in her father’s arms, telling him she loved him. Oh please, any sissy liberal wanker out there – refrain from chastising me. I think decent guys need to do indecent acts sometimes to protect those they love. Jeremy Steinke should have been beaten to a pulp and left to die hanging from a tree.

Anyway, this story is a little weird.
This kind of reminds me of Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate. He was like 19 and she was 14 and back in like the 1950s they killed Caril’s mom, stepdad and baby half-sister, then went on a murderous rampage slaughtering people in I think several states. Starkweather went to the gas chamber, but Caril Ann was released from prison in the seventies.
The movie, ‘Badlands’ (Martin Sheen, Sissy Spacek) was based on the Starkweather murders.
I’ve also heard that ‘Natural Born Killers’ (Woody Harrelson, Juliet Lewis) was inspired by the case as well.

Here is what the girl deserves:
Jasmine Richardson deserves to be locked in a white room with no doors or windows. There should be no ventilation to allow air to come in. She should be completely denied the minimal requirements to support life, such as food and water. She should be bound so that she cannot move, blindfolded, and have her ears plugged, cutting off as many senses as possible. And she should be simply left to die slowly and painfully, and all the while thoughts of her parents and brother will haunt her until she completely wastes away to nothing.
But beforehand, she should be forced to watch her f*ckhead of a boyfriend die a slow and painful death in front of her.
I would love to see that happen, but we all know it’s far-fetched and completely unrealistic. Realistically, she should get life in prison, and when I say life, I mean “life”, not this 25 years bullshit.

I’m not up on Canadian Law, but I believe that in order to get a sentence equivalent to Life in prison, Steinke has to be declared a Dangerous Offender or something along those lines (He’d still be eligible for parole, believe it or not), otherwise the worst he can get is 25 years. Could one of our Canadian friends straighten me out on that? Is he even eligible for Dangerous Offender status? I’m pretty sure I’m correct about this, but I would like to get it from somebody who knows for sure.

Bobby did get Dangerous Offender status back in 2007; he’s serving 25 to life for the murders of six women. He actually confessed to killing 49, then recanted. I think he’s coming up for an appeal in 2009 – yeah, good luck on that Bobbo.
Max he’ll get is 25 years and a possiblity of parol after ten probably. I doubt he’ll get dangerous offender as he and his lawyer are going to claim “mental illness” as a factor. The loser will also get credit for time served I bet, so he’s been in jail since this happened, so credit of 2.5 years or so. could see him on the streets by 2012/2015.

I think what happened to this family is horrible, horrible news. As a fellow Canadian, there are a lot of things in our justice system that I find to be questionable, no doubt about it. I am disturbed by the fact that Richardson will be roaming the streets a free woman in less than ten years despite the horrific multiple murder of her family. I’d be even more disturbed if Steinke was roaming the streets in 25 years or less. Those two definately deserve more punishment than they recieved, but I don’t think the death penalty is the answer (as mentioned in an earlier comment by “Hmmm” on Nov. 28, 2008).
It costs more money to kill people than it does to keep them alive, believe it or not. Not only that, but crime rates are lower in places where the death penalty has been abolished compared to places where the death penalty is still in effect. Lastly, although Richardson and Steinke are clearly guilty, in the history of the death penalty, many innocent people were executed for crimes they did not commit.
That aside, I understand there’s a lot of disgust and outrage over what these two have done, but I personally would rather see them both sit in jail for the rest of their lives. At least this way, as he sits in jail for the next 75 years of his life (give or take), he’ll get to spend 20 hours out of each of those days sitting in his cell reflecting on how much of a fucking idiot he is and how senseless his crimes were. As far as Richardson is concerned, she should have been tried and charged as an adult for her involvement. I think it sends a bad message that she wasn’t. Fuck the “can’t-be-tried-as-an adult-if-you’re-under-14″ rule. Richardson is a good example of someone who should have been an EXCEPTION to that. I won’t argue that her sentence is far too lenient considering the circumstances. One can only hope that the next 8.5 years are hell enough for her that in her mind it feels like she’s served 17 years instead of what she was actually given.

Hmmm.. I am no expert in Canadian law, but in the US, the mandatory appeals process for death row inmates results in staggering costs.
While the extermination itself is cheap, the process to get them onto that table, into that chair or against the wall is long and drawn out, even when the convict wants to die. And if he is fighting, it can go even longer, and cost millions, all footed by the taxpayer.
In a more sensible world, this process would be simple – convict them, sentence them, review the case once to be sure that there is irrefutable evidence that this guy really committed the crime, and then blast him.
But the world is run by idiots now. Unless and until we get rid of the imbeciles who make our policies life in prison and death will both remain ridiculous uses of societies resources.

In the US, the man who beheaded Tim McLean on the Greyhound bus would likely be spending the rest of his life in the mental hospital, Karla Holomka would have either gotten the death sentence along with her husband or at least life in prison and Jasmine Richardson would have gotten way for then 6 years and her name would have been released. Our laws are disgusting, murder victims unless the killer is deemed a dangerious offender like Paul Bernado and Clifford Robert Olson don’t stand a chance of getting justice especially if their killer is a minor.
Becasue of many reasons. People in Canada don’t live on top of each other. Also i smaller towns news doesn’t travel as far as fast as they do in larger towns and cities. So when someone is murdered or raped it pretty much stays in that town.

It was argued back and forth that a criminal has rights as a human being. I argued back that thier rights endedthe second they took away another person’s right to life and health. Oh I could not agree with you more …. A few years ago I was totally deemed a throwback Nazi unfeeling uncilivilzed person for advocating for the death penalty for heinous crimes in a graduate class. The problem is that all the professors that teach these classes, all the kids that go through the graduate indoctrination process and never learn to think for themselves have led rare, glorified lives in sheltered environments where they rarely come into contact with the nastiness and evil that lurks outside the gated suburb. It is interesting to throw around criminal justice concepts, talk about poverty, rehabilitation, social theory when one has not met a real murderer and had first hand knowledge of how evil some people can be and how they truly don’t regret a damned thing they do. I explained that I had first hand knowledge from working inside a correctional facility and the class then decided I was hopelessly barbaric…Its a lost cause until the people being educated in social and criminal justice learn to think and explore for themselves and not blindly swallow whatever theory of restorative justice in currently in vogue

We’ve been getting hammered with spam for the last six months.
I do not reply to this kind of stuff but I am so angry at the circumstances of this situation. I would normally believe that a 12 year old girl would be highly influenced by a 23 year old man but in this instance I believe she was the manipulator. I believe she should be locked away for the rest of her life. She is a manipulator that took someone like Jeremy Steinke and screwed with his mind, manipulated him and threw him away. He is in prison for the rest of his life and she could be teaching my children in approx; 10 years. She is left with a future, money that her grandparent have in trust and a way to find someone else to manipulate. Frankly she scares me. I have worked with at risk youth for so long you can see the good and the bad. I truly hope I am wrong but there is bad people. Just like Karla Holmolka she is pulling the poor me card, fortunately for her she will be able to hide her past. I truly hope I am wrong but deep down I believe she was the perpetrator. I have a daughter and I would rather be dead than know I raised a monster. No matter what kind of a parent you are you can never truly control what your child becomes. you just do the best you can!!
