  • Robert Cameron Houston

Robert Cameron HoustonIn October of 2003, when he was 14, Robert Cameron Houston went into the room of a girl who was staying at the same group home.

Robert Houston put his hand over her mouth and showed her a knife that he had taken from the kitchen. Leading her into the living room, he forced her to remove her clothes, fondled her and tried to rape her. He couldn’t do it, but he gave it the ol’ college try. When he was done, he told her that he would kill her if she told anyone.

Robert Houston got detention after she told someone.

In 2004, Robert tried to rape his aunt, who screamed and woke up the rest of the house.

It really was just a matter of time until he graduated to something worse.

In February of 2006, Robert Houston was driven to his independent living home by a group home worker - Raechale Elton. There was a foot of snow on the ground and she didn’t want him to have to walk the whole way. By driving him to his house, alone, she violated the program policy and put herself into mortal danger.

Robert Houston later said that he had been thinking about raping Raechale Elton for a couple of weeks. This was his chance, and he took it.

When they set foot inside his home, he put his hand over her mouth and put the blade of a pocket knife he was carrying to her throat. He pulled her to the closest bedroom and raped her while she was screaming and crying.

When she wouldn’t stop, he got upset.

Robert Houston got so upset that he rammed the knife into Elton’s throat and dragged the blade from left to right.

When she continued to scream and yell, he stabbed her six times.

That wasn’t enough, so Robert Houston tried to break Raechale Elton’s neck by planting a foot on her back, grabbing her hair and yanking her head back. He also grabbed her head and gave it a violent twist.

Finally, after giving up on that, he reached his fingers into the neck wound and just tried to pull out her throat.

Robert Houston was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Robert Cameron Houston was ineligible for the death penalty because he was only 17 at the time.

you would think that because of the brutality of the crime, he would’ve been tried as an adult.
