What went wrong with Christopher Hughes?
Was he just a bad apple, genetically pre-determined to snap sometime?
The youngest son of Laura Hughes Doyle, 17-year-old Christopher had been involved with the law for a while, stealing the family car, getting in trouble for drug use, and slapping his 44-year-old mom around.
According to a neighbor:
“Her son was always kicked out of school, in and out of schools, different schools. They sent him to military school from what I heard.”
It didn’t seem that the military school helped.
This 17-year-old wunderkind took the .22 pistol his dad had given him for his birthday and shot his mother, Laura Hughes Doyle, at least three times in the head and at least twice in the body.
After Christopher Hughes shot Laura, he dragged his mother’s bleeding body out of the trailer park home they shared and over to a convenient pile of trash, where Christopher set the person who had given birth to him on fire and left her.
Then he took her bank card and went on a three-week spending spree, buying pretty much what you would imagine a 17-year-old would buy – stereo equipment, paintball stuff, video games, car accessories.
Christopher Hughes spent about $7000 while his mother’s body decomposed within throwing distance.
When other family members noticed that she was missing and called police, Christopher told them she had moved out west – out to California.
After a search of the house revealed personal items of Laura’s, items that no woman would leave at home while they were on vacation for any length of time, police became suspicious.
Christopher Hughes was arrested a month after he killed his mother.
Does Christopher Hughes deserve Hell?

Message from the brother of the accused——
I am COMPLETELY appalled,discussted,and completely sickend by the fact that my little
brother has not had a chance to be tried by a jury before everyone from Brownsville to
the tip top of Texas has him already CONVICTED!!! What happend to the days of TRIAL
BY JURY? What happend to innocent untill PROVEN guilty? What happend to HUMAN
DECENCY? It is upsetting to no degree that my family and I have recieved NO HELP –
NONE— ZIP—ZERO help, from the TEXAS RANGERS, the FBI, or anyone else in this matter.
NO ONE WANTS TO HELP.
There are still phone calls and meetings with people in the state to try to help us.
Everyone has said from the start, EVEN BEFORE the body could be determined if it was
male or female that my little brother was the one that did it.
I’m not saying he did, I’m not saying he didn’t….THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT WILL PROVE
THAT. NOT WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR THINK !!!!!!!

I am not impressed with Hidalgo County or with the way they chose to handle the

I am ristricted in telling the details of the evidence or details of the investigation to the
general public due to legal repercussions to myself.
This is unfortunate, because I would LOVE to TELL EVERYONE what is going on and how
things are being handled.
We have currently started talks with state officials about this matter and I hope and
prey that they help.
The truth is out there! It will be found. I have no mercy for anyone that has something to
do with the death of my mother.
Everyone has their opinions of things, and I understand this, but you should not base
your opinion of ANYTHING untill you have all the facts in front of you.
My family and I have suffered a loss that no words can describe, and far to many in this
world know the feeling of loosing a loved one in this manner.
This was no accident.What happend to my mother was intentional and I hope and
prey that our call for help to bring whom ever is responcible to justice.
I will now sin myself to hell and prey that God takes no mercy on the soul of who is
responcible!
My little brother now faces no “fair” trial in the state of Texas due to all the articals and
lies and unjust statements that have been plastered in the news.
What a lovely world we all live in………
Give the boy his day in court, and lets ALL see what happens.
I still wonder how the people from the media sleep at night by writting stories like this.
Our sociaty has brought it’s self to no morals, no conscience, and no clue or concern to
peoples feelings.

A South Texas teen was sentenced to 45 years in prison Tuesday after being convicted of murder in the death of his mother, whose body was burned and dumped in a field after she was shot eight times.
Christopher Hughes, 18, sat stoically as the jury returned the murder verdict and showed little emotion during the penalty phase of the trial as family and friends testified, The (McAllen) Monitor reported in its online edition.
Prosecutors said Hughes shot Laura Hughes Doyle, 44, in April 2007 to get access to thousands of dollars in life insurance money she received after her husband had died of cancer.

Yeah, it IS a well known fact I took TWO pictures as I was on the phone with the Sheriff’s office….AND? well, I guess it’s time to start getting down to the facts…….
Three years ago today was the day, that evidence show’s, that my mother went missing in Hidalgo County Texas.
On May 17 2007 I took a trip to the valley, for a few reasons. On May 18 2007…I discovered my mother’s body about 30yards away from her home. This was after the Hidalgo County Sheriffs officers had visited the home on THREE separate occasions, twice of which they spoke with my little brother, and once walking through the residence. After I had spoke with the man in charge of the missing person’s investigation that told me that “in 10 more days we are calling off the investigation,we see no sign’s of foul play, and we are not going to waste any more resource on the matter,if you want to find your mother ,I suggest you hire a private investigator and track her through things like ,bank account,credit cards and cell phone.” Shortly after I discovered her body my little brother was detained for questioning. He was released into my custody for a period of time. On his 17th birthday, my house was stormed by swat in the accompaniment of Hidalgo homicide detectives. My little brother was arrested for the murder of our mother. He was held in the youth detention center in Hidalgo, where he was required to go before a judge every week to extend his incarceration. After months of going in front of the SAME judge with the SAME lawyer, all a sudden the court’s paperwork did not show him having an attorney, so the nice judge APPOINTED two jokers that were present in court that day to the case. My little brother’s attorney had no idea they did this, and he was REFUSED back on the case. He needed a “release” from the newly appointed lawyers to have the case back. They refused. During the trial there were a LOT of things that did not add up with the lead homicide detective’s story. We had family members LIE under oath in the court room and say things that never happened. My little brother was never allowed to take the stand to defend his self. He is now sentenced to 45 years with no parole. He is currently, from what I hear, still in the appeals process, and they are running out. He has an applet lawyer’s name on his paper work, that does not exist. He has also been transferred into one of the worst prison’s in the state of Texas at this time. I have not had contact with him since the conviction. I wish I could say he was innocent, but I can not say he is guilty. I do not know.
What I do know is there was nothing as far as physical evidence linking him to the murder.
What I do know is my mother was in the process of suing her late husband’s family for embezzling over 1 million dollars from her late husband’s investments accounts. She was one week away from completing evidence collection and filing in court….
What I do know is the late husband’s family some how “obtained” a briefcase from the back of my mother’s LOCKED trunk of her car ON her property.
What I do know is that her mother denies the day my mother recovered the briefcase FROM them at THEIR property in Corpus on the day of her late husband’s wake.
What I do know is Marshall was creepy and was stalking her—I was the one that proved him a LIAR in court with the answering machine from my mother’s home.
What I do know is there was notes stashed here and there in my mom’s house to her” best friend” that read “Doris and PeeWee, you come in my house again I’ll fucking kill you”….these notes were turned over to Mr.Tanguma the lead homicide detective after I had once again talked to Mr.Patcheco, a Texas Ranger based in McAllen,TX about someone breaking into my mother’s house after H.C.C.S.I had released the property back to us.
What I do know, is the Judge that my little brother had to go in front of to extend his stay had a brother, who is also a Judge, who had a son, who was found in the back seat of a car shot and burned, with an informant in the trunk,shot. This car was found about 3 miles from my mother’s house.
This judge, my little brother had to go in front of to be certified an adult.
What I do know is that same judge JUST got back to work after a suspension shortly before his son was murdered with the informant.
What I do know is shortly there after a tractor trailer located a couple short miles down the road from this scene, parked in front of some guy’s house, in his yard, was LOADED down with cocaine.
What I do know is there was bodies being found in ditches, behind dumpsters, in abandoned houses all around the area stretching all the way to Brownsville, ALL with the same m.o. shot,and burned.
What I do know is these cops down there have done MANY illegal things…TAKING kids out of school,interrogating them with no parents,no attorneys,officers perjuring them selves on the stand under oath, falsifying documents and witness statements, pushing for bribes, stalking(illegal wire taps)and trespassing along with theft. (they had no warrants-and never notified the local police or sheriff’s offices that they were conducting ANY kind of investigation on their turf-YOU ARE required to notify other agencies! They were reported and the Sheriffs department escorted them out of the county. Hidalgo was not happy. No one likes a creeper. Not even Mr.O’Conner.
What I do know is these cops make my skin crawl, they DO give a feeling they will shoot you in the face and drop you in a ditch. They are the DEFINITION of organized crime. No “direct” threats from them, only very “suggestive” language.
Although,I have had several death threats, but thats “family” for ya.
What I don’t know is if my little brother did this or not. Gut tells me no, brain tells me never to trust anyone, because everyone is capable of anything. (you can claim all day you know how you will react to things, that you know exactly what you would do,blah blah….NO…NO YOU DON’T) In times of stress-you react…thats it…there is nothing else.
What I would FIGURE, is that if he did this, there would be evidence to prove it..HE WAS 16 FFS! Are you telling me, at 16, my little brother is a homicidal maniac that is skilled enough and smart enough to NOT leave behind evidence?
Oh wait..thats right, I forgot, the sheriffs office was out there 3 times already and seen no sign’s of foul play. So we are dealing with rocket scientists here?

What I do know is under the information act I am allowed the court documents, autopsy reports, records of evidence amongst a few other things……
DENIED !!!!! Multiple attempts to obtain these documents has been refused,or given the run around, with the statement- “it’s in the mail” (quote from Judges office that handled the autopsy).
I WAS offered the court transcripts for $3,600.00 . Although, I would love these documents so I could post them on the web to SHOW EVERYONE all the lies.
What I do know is this was no where near a fair trial.
What I do know is after my little brother was released on May 18th after the first 5 or 7 hours of interrogation with out an attorney or recordings – AFTER I HEARD ALL THESE COPS MAKING FUN OF MY MOTHER, right around the corner from where I was sitting in their lair…I made calls to Three(3) different F.B.I. agencies pleading with them to help, I contacted the Texas Rangers in Austin,which directed me to Dallas,which directed me to SanAntonio,which directed me to McAllen….which I pleaded with Iseral Pacheco to help investigate. I talked to Mr.Pacheco on multiple occasions. The only thing he was willing to do, was administer the LieDetector tests…but there sure was a joint effort to investigate the judge’s kid and get that trailer with coke busted….
What I do know is they can track you YEARS LATER by your cell phone..yes,your company KEEPS RECORDS..these records include things like-GPS position,time stamp,numbers called,etc…
In 2002 there was a man linked to a missing person by cell phone position records from 1996 <—-
My little brother had a cell phone…I had TWO(2) cell phones at this time, one work,one personal….WHY THE FUCK WERE THESE NOT CHECKED?!?
What I do know, is these assholes love to talk shit. My little brother's attorneys are still trying to conjure up stories about how I'm supposed to be involved with this, even going after a friend of mine that was 6hours away because I was having him make calls for me that I couldn't make due to being in the middle of an investigation during the day of May18th2007. These calls included, calls to my father, calls to Beeville Prison to pull my older brother, of which you all know,Eric , away from any t.v.'s or radios due to the LINE of new's crews that swarmed the scene. Last thing I was wanting at this time was for Eric to see this and flip out and get MORE time in prison…At the time we were not sure WHO that was I had found, the body was badly burned and decayed. I expected the worst,but prayed for the best. Prayer unanswered.

My mother was Laura Hughes Doyle….my mom was bad ass,she deserved better in so many ways. Mr.Nonuts from the rag paper "themonitor" wrote her to be a horrible person and didn't have shit for facts right on a WIDE spectrum of things.(also the shit about deleting my comments-fucking douche!)
Christopher Allan Hughes is my little brother, he lied to me about some stupid stuff, so I don't feel like I can trust his word on anything( I'm that way with everyone-don't fucking lie to me) but I don't feel he did this…..not only his actions when I was around him after all this, but how EVERYONE was throwing lies left and right at the kid…how he got railroaded in court, etc….Something isn't right, on a LARGE scale…
No one out of the valley want's to touch this, they will refer you right back to the same crooked assholes in the valley.
So to everyone out there, this is whats up.
Your system is FUCKED ! plain and simple. You may be living in a peachy life style, never dealing with the law other than maybe a traffic ticket, but others out there are living the real world life.
When you have a cop ask you "what's going to happen to your kids when you disappear"……then you can open your fucking eyes and see that you people gave "power" to the wrong fucking people!

1)Mom was a week away from filing suit for over a million dollars to the surviving members of the Doyle family.
2)The Doyle's were in possession of the briefcase,in Corpus, from a locked vehicle on my mom's property in Elsa.
3)My mom's mother denying the exchange took place,(briefcase does not exist)…
4)The corner(autopsy dude) "retired" after my mom's autopsy,was his last one.
5)My mom's brother(MIKE) going over my head and having her cremated immediately.
6)My mom was getting into cocaine again-the guy that I am told she was buying from had her gun-(suspected murder weapon) under his bed.
7)Gun possessor is a convicted felon that admitted to him and his friends shooting the gun at his house.
8)Gun possessor saying he took the gun out of the truck my little bro was driving cause his little bro was running around with him….ie, convicted felon in possession of a stolen fire arm…(but tanguma said "he's a really good guy")
9) Marshall hiding the fact he stalked my mom and had romantic feelings for her, with audio from my mother's answering machine calling her "sugar puss" and rants about how much he loves her and to call him, plus leaving notes in the gate for her.
10) My mom's mother all a sudden befriending the Doyle family, even with all the feelings my mom expressed about them and what they had done…
11) Flying the gun possessor back to texas (serving time elsewhere) to give testimony against my lil bro after they rushed him into a private room to (brief,coax,bribe?) him.
12) kicking everyone in my group out of the court room during any testimony and allowing other "witness cohorts" into the court room to relay the testimony in the room before anyone else gets called in-and then having the Ass.D.A. laugh in my face when I called him on that lack of respect of the law.
13)Shortly before my mother's disappearance, about mid March-she had security bars installed on every window but one that was covered by a huge cactus, and both doors, top'd off with over $800 of medco locks…not the cheap shit! security bars are ment to keep things out..more on this later.
14)My mom's mom telling stories that me and Chris had a plan to kill her,she sent pictures to prove it ( which was the pictures we took before a visit to her(mom's mom) house in SA one year, I was leaning on a b-b-q pit with my father and lil bro-so we were going to b-b-q her I guess.)*please see #12-security bars are ment to keep people out,if some one wants to kill you,why lock them in with you?kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me.
15) the land- The property is located across Delta Lake Park in Hidalgo county, on the property sits the ruins of the old Bordello , a 3 or 4 story structure.Daniel(her late husband) and his brother had their eye on this property for years(I got the original pics they took back in the early 80's) NOW-at the time they wanted too much money for the place-the Bordello was still in great shape and functional..(as a motel ) ..NOW-right before they moved down there,my mom was getting into another "kick" I guess you could say, hanging out with the wrong people,doing things she shouldn't be doing-all a sudden—-the Bordello burns to the ground…Dan sells his home here in Victoria and scoops up the property for a sweet discount….thus, getting my mom far away from the trouble here.(later on he was stupid and got her a firebird that would top around 160mph,so he kinda screwed his self on the whole plan)
16)My mom's mother called not to long ago to my father's house—after all the nasty things she said about me,Chris,and my father…she calls. I just happend to be there that night,so I listened in on the other phone….no fucking apologies..just questions….questions about MONEY….whats going on with the life insurance.whats going on with the investments…try'n to act all sweet and poke here and there for information…GREEDY ASS!<-sorry,personal opinion.
17)Lots of drug related activity all around her house.
18)MULTIPLE DOCUMENTED break ins reported at her residence.
19)On one police call,it was reported there were trespassers on the property having a little party(good chunk of property).The responding officer was reported to enter into a chase where the vehicle he was pursuing lost control and rolled, death was reported. The officer was put on suspension due to possible alcohol in his system at the time of accident.–THE VERY SAME OFFICER THAT RESPONDED TO MY CALL OF FINDING HER-then pulling up and asking me "is there a problem?"(this guy said he knew her well,like he was the ONLY officer that ever responded)
20)the untimely screw up with the paper work on the lawyer.
21)The absolute refusal of giving me documents I am allowed to by the freedom of information act.(what is there to hide?)
22) No physical evidence linking my lil bro to the murder.(no blood,no prints,no nothing other than stupid activity-he spent quite a bit of money-but what teenager with out supervision wont?)<-My opinion-I remember being 16…

What did you expect me to do with this? Basically, you’ve posted a mish-mash of 80% neighborhood gossip and 20% unsubstantiated accusations. I know a few things about the law, and appeals are very, very hard to win, ESPECIALLY in Texas. There’s things about your Brother’s case that make an appeal unlikely at best. Sure, it’s circumstantial evidence, but it’s powerful stuff, and hard for him to explain away.
Proof evidence,witness…..that is a very good point….but I always was told under the law you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty-and the burden of proof is bound to the prosecution.

Chris, and I did not stay at my mother’s house the night of the 17th, we crashed at a friend of his house, of which I had just met.
Chris was attending school in SanBenito,TX….I dropped Chris off at school that morning, had a bit of a miss-communication with the Principal, the law was called on me AT the school…
it was from a conversation I had with a social worker on the 16th, sum it up,Chris had a ticket in Port Isable to pay,the school,KNOWING he did not have a driver’s license-was going to allow him to leave an hour early and DRIVE HIM SELF FROM school to pay this ticket. Due to the hours the office was open he would have to drive like a maniac to get there in time,so I suggested they let him leave at lunch and he would return and get his work and finnish the day…arguemnt for a few seconds before I just told them if the principal had any thing to say to me,he could call me,but I was done dealing with that woman. So anyhow, next day they were not happy to see me, and yeah,I got an attitude a bit-but nothing warranting being swarmed by laws like I was a mad gun man or something, very over dramatised…I was walking WITH the security to try and talk to the principal before I left and thats when he told me to get off his campus and I told him to call the law I’ll be waiting outside..which I did-with the security officers hanging out with me till the Police arrived, and it was over me wanting to give Chris a message to Walk off campus after school so I could pick him up, cause that principal really didnt seem to care for me too much…so THAT caused a big stink…anyhow…there was a brief background…now….
Remember this school is in SanBenito……my mother’s house was about 7 to 10 miles north of Elsa…Across from Delta Lake Park….google map this stuff man,give you an idea here…now….as you see from the map–thats a pretty good distance away from home to go to school….thats a long boring ride by yourself…..so yeah…I was calling my friends…I also called my father, called my grandfather……
See what I mean about the details…they give you a “blurb” and then let your imaginations run with it….
In google maps, you can also(or actually I use google earth) you can see the lay out of the “trailer park” which is actually a big chunk of acreage that was privately owned by Dan and my mother.
Also included on the property was two guest houses located near the back of the property…
“oh guest houses?” —-nothing special , or hasn’t been for years, falling to pieces….
Any how, you can get an idea of the lay out….I’m sure if you googled “delta lake bordello” or something similar you could even find pictures and history about the place before and after the incident….

All of these things I write about was given to the Homicide detectives as well as the D.A.’s office….YOU tell me why nothing was investigated……wouldn’t you THINK that something is odd with the briefcase and a lawsuit in that large of a sum with the word-EMBEZZLEMENT would kinda be a little flag waving around?
Don’t you think it’s strange that she goes missing a week before the paper work is finalized, don’t you think the security bars and high dollar locks are odd in the time frame?
Oh,,and to elaberate a bit on the pictures my mom’s mom presented in court….it wasn’t like a hand full that was supposed to show proof…..it was a big box with over 1000 photos…….family photos back to when we were babies almost….being presented to implicate me at his trial?
To clear up the family dynamic…there are 3 sons, we all have different fathers, Eric’s was out of the picture,Chris’s father lives near by and is a very good man,Chris never got to meet him,Daniel was the only father that Chris knew.Dan was also a good man.I was raised by my father until about 14-15years old, then I briefly lived with my mom and two brothers. At this time she had to spend some time in jail due to some messed up stuff involving an ex-husband and his neighbors, so me and Eric staid with friends here and there, Chris was being take’n care of by a good family friend,(the mother of the friend they are trying to drag into this)….
Now, I’m sure people would have something to say about me now NOT being raised exclusively by my mom….it never made her any less of a mom..so don’t go there.

I was in Killeen TX the 14th&15th(dealing with the police chief there) drove back to home town, slept most the day the 16th, didn’t sleep at home the 16th either, went to my house later and it had been broke into,so I had to deal with the Sheriff’s office till almost midnight before I headed to where Chris was ,,arrived there around 4:30am or so on the 17th….

Have you thought about contacting outside help? Like maybe a well known lawyer (who may work pro bono), or how about contacting the media? Maybe not exactly about getting your brother out, but explaining that you aren’t being allowed access to things you should be able to have access to. I mean it sounds to me like you MAY be on to something, but then how could you know if you can’t get the information you need. If I were you I would try and talk to people who may actually be able to help, I don’t think anyone here could help when it comes to this.

Truth be told, had he cut the length and the more spurious allegations, then I could have believed in some sort of small-town corruption driven by money. I just miss the way things used to be. I miss my mom like you wouldn’t imagine…I actually miss my whole f’d up family, but things will never even be close to the same, I lost everyone on my mom’s side of the family. We’re used to guys like Randy making excuses for the folks we write about, and I take it personally exactly for the reasons you stated his posts hurt you and your family so much. When someone makes unsubstantiated accusation against the victim’s family, it disrespects the victim and the victim’s family, and reopens old wounds that should be healing after the conclusion of the trial.
The bottom line is if Randy thinks he has evidence that will prove Chris is innocent, the courtroom is the place to argue his case, and a lawyer should be the one doing the arguing. But he doesn’t, so he comes to places like this and rants and raves to serve whatever agenda he really has. Well, he won’t be getting away with it here anymore, even if I have to babysit this website 24 hours a day. It’s the least I can do to keep my promise to run PYSIH in support of all victims and their families.
