You can be angry with this woman for making a very difficult situation, but you should hate Kent Profitt for turning a stupid bit of drama into a murder.

Again, blame Kent Profitt for the murder, you can lay any other crimes you want at Tammy’s feet, but she isn’t currently a convicted murderer.

Tammy is the one that should be blamed for all the death of her son regardless who pulled the trigger.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc

Being accused of a crime you haven’t committed is not an excuse to hire two people to kill someone else.
I don’t care if Tammy is the scum of the earth, she did not cause this death. The very definition of causality defies you to prove otherwise.

As for Kent Proffit, Bryce Chavers, Tammy Porter and JR “Bubba” Proffit/Porter… they are all my family. What I am about to tell you is all fact, no opinion.

Kent just had the sexual assault conviction dropped and won’t be retried. In June 2005,the weeks leading up to Bryce calling the police on Kent for sexual assault, I spent quite a few days with Bryce. Many times he told me how much he loved Kent and pointing at Kent… “That’s my Dad.” Bryce’s father is a truck driver and Bryce hated going on the road with him. (I’m sure it was the age -ok, the age comment is my opinion.) But, this created distance between him and his father. Tammy, JR & Bryce’s mom nick-named the two boys, “Thing” & “It”. Besides calling JR “Bubba”, this is the only way I ever heard her address the two boys. Tammy has 3 boys from 3 different men. When the baby was born, Tammy went into the hospital and never came home. She moved directly into Dougs home. (Doug was the guy who ended up with the shell at his house) While she was gone, she never called on the boys to see if they were okay and she never offered Kent money to help pay for food etc. Kent worked for a delivery company, transporting parts to mines. Kent would take Bryce as often as he could. By May of 2005 Tammy and Doug broke up. Doug had figured out that Tammy had gone through about $80,000. of cash and credit under his name. Tammy moved back in with Kent and the boys. Bryce enjoyed traveling with Kent and liked to stop and look at the sites. They came to our city a few states away and Bryce loved walking downtown looking at all the shops. While we were in one store, he decided to pick out a gift for his mother. He was trying to decide between earrings and a shot glass. He eventually decided on the shot glass. This was the last time I saw Bryce alive but not the last time I talked with him.

Bryce had Kent arrested for “Breech of Peace” He was held in Jail for quite a few days before the Sexual Assault Alligations came to light. After Kent was arrested, JR “Bubba” told me multiple times that Bryce was lying and he was going to kill him. Many people including myself told him that was a really dumb thing to do. It took us a while to figure out why we couldn’t reach Kent via phone. I spoke with his attorney and he was given permission by Kent to tell the entire family everything.

On my daughters birthday, Kent called from Jail. He told me he didn’t do it and I was leary of that but being family I decided to keep an open mind. After Kent made bail, I spoke with him again. He told me his side of the story and said that within minutes before Bryce called the cops, they had been arguing. He had told Bryce that he was moving away and he wasn’t taking Bryce with him. With his father so far away and his mother leaving him for a guy with money, Kent felt that was Bryce’s way of making him stay. Kent told me that he had been hearing since he was in jail, Tammy was investing herself into Bryce. He had gotten his hair cut and removed his piercings. Kent told me that if this ruined the rest of his life, it was worth it because, finally Tammy was being the mother Bryce deserved. Folks, that is a conversation you just don’t forget. From that point on, I was sure that Kent hadn’t done what he was accused of.

In November 2005, another family memeber overheard a telephone conversation between Bryce and Kent. Kent motioned for this person to come over to listen in. Bryce admitted he had lied and was sorry. He was going to be going to the police to drop the charges. Kent went to his brothers house feeling better about the situation. A few days later, Bryce was dead. A few weeks later, Martinez, Hicks and Sissor were arrested. Then Kent.

Kent Proffit has been convicted and could possibly spend the rest of his life in jail. It wasn’t until a few months ago that Kent changed his story. He has always maintained his innocence but seemed to omit details. It wasnt until he received some news from the family about JR (Bubba) changing his name from Proffit to Porter that Kent started spilling every detail. “I’m spending my life in here for him and he changes his name?”

Keep watching the news, I am thinking this is not the end of the story.

I don’t think it is right to put other prople down to help yourself feel better. (Your right, we should not put others down to help ourselves feel better. This is not putting others down, it is voicing our opinions on what they have done.) that just means u r selfish. (Putting others done might mean insecurity, selfish is to describe someone who is not willing to share with others.) i don’t approve of that and as for all that religious crap u spouted off, i don’t believe any of that.(There is a sin called Blasphemy, it basically consists of denying God or the Word of God as untrue. That is an unforgiveable sin. Moving on, I don’t recall anyone here seeking “your” approval on their opinions. that’s the beauty of an opin, it does not need anothers approval to be valid.) its just a load of crap that makes people feel important. (No, I feel important because I am a good father, a hard worker and contributing member of society that does not brieak the law.) it is rediculous. (ridiculous, please note correct spelling.) the only reason u go to the lake of souls is if u have regrets when u die. (That is not true, you go to hell when you die for not accepting Christ as your savior, repenting your sins and continue forth living your life in a way that glorifies him.) otherwise u go to paradise (Please refer to the previous comment to address this.)
