How many times can a man be executed?

A jury insisted Robert Rhoades be given a second death sentence.

Already on death row for the 1996 torture-killing of 8-year-old Michael Lyons, he now has been found guilty for the 1984 rape and murder of 18-year-old Julie Connell.

DNA evidence taken from Rhoades in the Lyons case gave investigators a perfect match to DNA that had been collected from Julie Connell’s body.

Connell disappeared on the 20th of April in 1984 after she went to a a local park to study and read a book – five days after he 18th birthday.

Her bruised body was found in an animal corral in Palomares Canyon near Castro Valley five days later.

“Parents aren’t supposed to do something like this,” a detective with the Muskegon Heights police said.

Now come on, what did they do?

Well, Shawn Dailey was a little upset with her body.

Ms. Dailey had just had a tummy tuck and the mean ol’ doctors said that she wouldn’t be able to satisfy her boyfriend, Michael Fitzgibbon, sexually for a while.

Now, any normal person would sigh and possibly look into alternative ways of pleasing her boyfriend, maybe bake him a nice ham.

Instead, Shawn Dailey suggested that Mr. Fitzgibbon should have sex with her 14-year-old daughter.

She went so far as to persuade her daughter to sign a contract that obligated the then-14-year-old girl to have sex with Fitzgibbon in exchange for clothing, body piercings and the ability to stay with her teenage boyfriend on some nights.

Kelly Lumadue had sex with a five-year-old boy back in 1996 while her husband, Leonard “Bud” Lumadue, ran videotape.

Thankfully, “Bud” Lumadue is dead now – cancer got him in 2003.

After he died, Ms. Lumadue threw the videos with their “special moments” out onto the curb for trash collection.

A garbage collector saw the tapes and took them home.

Once he saw what was on them, he turned all that nice video evidence in to the police.

Kelly Lumadue will very likely die in prison, as she may be sentenced to life without parole – in fact that’s the only sentence allowed by Florida law for capital sexual battery.

The boy, now a teenager, doesn’t remember what happened.

Really, who would you consider as the guiltiest party here? The serial pedophile rapist or his gay lover of a Catholic priest that gave him money to help him groom pre-teens for sex?

The mind boggles sometimes.

Jeremiah McGrath, a 63-year-old Catholic priest who wore his priest collar during his trial, met 38-year-old William Adams 19 years ago in a hostel for the homeless.

For those of you that aren’t so good at math, Adams would have been 19 back then – a little old for a priest, but beggars can’t be choosers can they?

The priest and the pedo hit it off well, maintaining a lasting sexual relationship.

This was aided, of course, by the fact that McGrath regularly gave his sexual partner money for all sorts of things.

For some reason as yet untold, 16-year-old Alec Devon Kreider, a sophomore in high school, decided to enter the residence of his friend, Kevin Haines, and kill everyone that he could find.

Alec Kreider entered the Haines residence shortly after 1 in the morning on the 12th of May, 2007.

Moving quietly through the house, 50-year-old Thomas Alan Haines, 47-year-old Lisa Ann Haines, and their 16-year-old son Kevin Haines were all stabbed by Alec Kreider as he swept through like an angel of death.

Then he left.

Margaret Haines, the only Haines to survive the night of death, woke up at about 2 in the morning when she heard a noise that sounded like her brother screaming.

Mr. Jay Bernard Gillilland was sentenced to 6,242 years in prison — 174 consecutive sentences of 35 years to life for maintaining a two-year sexual relationship with a six-year-old girl.

The ex-U.S. customs agent was found guilty of 174 counts of sexual conduct with a minor, 100 counts of child molestation, 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of child abuse.

I think he might be getting out too soon.

Mr. Gillilland was arrested after federal agents (who were investigating him on drug charges) discovered child pornography on his computer.

A search of his home turned up videotapes of Gillilland abusing the child.

People with four names never turn out quite right.

Timothy David Martyn Cox was the ringleader of a group of pedophiles who pursued the objects of their affections online, where they never figured they’d be caught.

The chat room used by these degenerates was called “Kids – the Light of Our Lives,” and featured images and live videos of children being subjected to horrific sexual abuse.

Some of these children were only months old.

If you were a member of this online club, you could arrange a time and a place to view one of several captive children being raped and brutalized in real time.

After a United States-based pedophile ring had been broken up, Mr. Timothy Cox opened and operated his own chat room out of his bedroom while working for the family’s microbrewery.

According to police statements after the incident, Herbert Rodgers believed that his wife, Carmen Tarleton, who he had split up with, was sleeping with another man.

He talked to God for a while, which is fine.

He asked God if he should kill the man who was sleeping with his wife, which is kind of borderline.

Mr. Rodgers gave God until his birthday to respond to his query.

You can imagine how this one played out.

The day after his birthday, Mr. Rodgers broke into his estranged wife’s house through a window with a baseball bat.

Herbert then beat the mother of his children, tied her up and dumped lye all over her body in an attack that left her with a broken arm, a broken eye socket and burns over 80 percent of her body.
