If you’d just ask Laura Ashley Hall, love makes you do weird things.
Weird things like, oh…maybe buying your lover a hacksaw, some latex gloves, Febreze, ammonia and some other cleaning products at the local Ace Hardware.
Weird things like helping your lover cut the head and hands off the body of a girl he shot, killed and left in a bathtub.
Then of course you have to help him escape with a romantic drive to Mexico in your Cadillac and spend a fun-filled six days and nights soaking up the sights until Mexican police expel you from their country.
You may remember Colton Pitonyak, a student at the University of Texas who was the guy who shot Jennifer Rae Cave, a recent graduate of that school.
Laura Ashley Hall was his lover at the time.
She really, really loved him.
When the lovebirds were caught, Laura Hall told police that they had gone to Mexico just as a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing, that she didn’t know anything about the dead girl in the bathtub with her head and hands severed and placed neatly on her chest.
After questioning, her story changed. Now she had been held at knifepoint by Colton for the whole drive, and had been threatened by him with a gun while they were in Mexico.
Of course later a friend of Ashley Hall told police that Hall had called and told her about having been involved in the whole business two hours after it started. Evidently Ashley Hall thought about defending Colton Pitonyak when the police showed up, but then changed her mind.
A co-worker claimed Hall had bragged to him about coming up with the idea of cutting up and disposing of the body and escaping to Mexico.
Another friend claimed Ashley Hall had said she gave Pitonyak a shopping list of exactly what they would need to use to cover up the murder.
This makes sense to me, because what guy would think of buying Febreze?
During the trial, Pitonyak testified that Hall couldn’t stand the idea of losing him and suggested they dismember Jennifer Cave’s body and run to Mexico.
Lots of interesting stories there.
Ms. Hall served four months before she was released on bail.
Colton Pitonyak is serving a 55-year sentence.
Let’s see what Laura Ashley Hall gets when it’s all said and done.

Love is a wierd thing isnt it? suprising what measures people will go to when they really love someone? i think he deserves hell and she needs a long time in prison to reflect on exactly what she has done
I just found out about this ordeal now, just when i read this page. I dont watch the news. All I ahve to say is that Jennifer Cave was a beautiful girl, and did not deserve what happened to her. Both guilty parties should live out the rest of thier natural lives in jail.

I could understand if they did it to make it harder for the police to get an ID on the body…but then they left her hands and head sitting on top of her body.

i feel really sorry for the cave family. i’m reading the book right now. i can’t believe they would not get L.H. for a longer sentence. she’ll get her judgement day in eternity. God bless.

The article above states “Jennifer Rae Cave, a recent graduate of that school (meaning Univ. of Texas).” That is far from the truth, and is an insult to those who did work hard to stay on track and graduate. She was as far from graduating as Colin was. Just trying to keep a truthful perspective here! While you’re all demonizing here, there also isn’t anyone involved who deserves to be lionized. They’re all just people – warts and all.
To be honest, I don’t consider someone who would cut off a woman’s head and hands and place them on her chest to be “just people”. And it really doesn’t matter about her attending school. What matters is that she was murdered and mutilated.

My son came face-to-face with Hall and for ssome reason or other she threatened to kill him. I’ve heard that she stated in reference to her grisly, sickening acts that “that was how she rolled”. Well, little wannabe wangsta mama, you have not only made yourself repulsive to the world, but you are now paying (I think way too small a cost)for your heinous acts. I would like to start off by saying that I am in no way defending Colton or Laura. The second thing is about how poorly this entire story is written. If you’re going to write a blog about something in the news, especially a murder, you should really get the facts right. Laura absolutely did NOT buy the hacksaw or cleaning products for Colton, as you state in the opening of your article. (Yes, I see later you say she made this list. Completely contradicting your first statement that she bought the items.) Colton was seen on video purchasing these items himself, and when asked what the hacksaw was for he said he wanted to cut up turkey. My next point, Jennifer Cave was NOT a recent graduate from University of Texas, she dropped out after attending one semester. Anyway, I can’t believe how many stories throughout this site have completely wrong information. People, if you’re looking for the truth.. don’t read it from bullshit websites like this. Pitonyak should have been executed within a year after his conviction. Life in prison for murder is not justice.

That Judgment day issue is so laughable. Trying to claim the date of the rapture is silly. My sibling actually sold a bunch of her property because she thought it was going to happen and she wasn’t going to need them. This entire event just makes Christians look unfit since people are going to associate this kookie with Christianity.
I saw this woman’s case on the Investigation discovery channel. She’s clearly lying and was involved even though she claimed she was not. ANY person with any sort of morals or values would have called the police when they found out that someone they were dating had killed someone.
Also on the ID documentary about her they even theorized that this woman Laura Ashley Hall killed the Cave woman. :(
