Robert Bridges
If it wasn’t for Robert Bridges, the 27th of August in the year 2006 would have been a nice night for one 38-year-old woman.
She was walking her dog, a black lab, through the park, not knowing that her life would change forever in a matter of minutes.
Robert Bridges saw her walking through the park.
He followed her.
He had a knife.
When the moment was ripe, like the predator he is, he attacked the lone woman.
He forced her to perform sexually, threatening her with his knife at her throat the entire time.
When he was done, she tried to run off.
That was when Robert Bridges slashed her throat with the knife.
She collapsed to the ground and, using the knife again, he cut off all her clothes.
As she lay there, choking and gagging, he raped her again.
When he finished, the woman had the good sense to pretend that she was dead until Robert Bridges was convinced he hadn’t left a witness and left the scene. Once he was gone, she was able to run, naked, to a nearby road and flag down a passing car.
Another centimeter or so with that knife would have severed an artery and Robert Bridges might have gone free.
He was identified by the woman two weeks later in a police lineup.
Robert Bridges pled guilty to two counts of rape and one count of attempted murder along with two counts of sexual assault. He’s going to be in jail for a while. The 47-year-old won’t even be considered for parole for a nice, long, 17 years.

Robbie made the mistake of letting this one get away.
When I think that a victim of such a brutal crime lived – I expect to see petitions for some kind of victim-inflicts-justice scenario. Mr. Bridges needs to be tied and left alone in a room with his victim and she should be allowed to react to the crime how ever she feels necessary. Also with the privledge of using the same weapon he used on this woman. Anyone?

i’m glad the woman survived, but is anyone else curious about her dog? Did the dog attempt to attack Robert? Did the dog run away? Basically i want to know if this woman still has her dog.
Definitely let the woman assert her right to have this POS to dispose and dispense with. I would welcome this type of retribution scenarios for victims as the “justice” system is rigged for the cretins aka criminals.
Um, yeah, I am also wondering about the dog. I’d like to believe that the dog tried to save her and got killed or seriously wounded.
Otherwise, I’m afraid the dog would have to be given away to a shelter; if it were my dog, then it would be doggie heaven. And before anyone takes offense, understand that I have come to love my inner psychopath and I know what I would be able to forgive — a dog that failed to protect would not be something I could forgive nor forget.
That said, I can’t imagine a dog like hers not protecting her. Even little dogs seem to have the “fight for my owner” gene in them. It’s always comforting to see a little dog yapping its fool head off trying to make you quake in your boots at its “fierceness”. ;-9
