Ronald Mallay, a 61-year-old Guyanese immigrant, had an idea.
He could buy life insurance policies from his friend Richard James, a Metlife insurance agent, for other Guyanese immigrants, who were, of course, unaware that their deaths were worth a lot of money to Ronald Mallay.
Some of these immigrants were related to Mallay.
Once the policies were bought, all Mallay had to do was wait for them to die and he could collect rich rewards.
The only problem with his idea?
People weren’t dying fast enough.
His solution?
Kill them all.
In one instance, Mallay took out a $400,000 insurance policy on his own brother-in-law before hiring a hit man to gun him down.
Ronald Mallay’s nephew testified that after the shooting, Mallay expressed his joy that his brother-in-law was left, “dying in the street like a dog.”
MetLife discovered the scheme when some bright young accountant noticed that 21 claims had been filed on life insurance policies written by Richard James with just a few years. This was an unusual amount of claims, about 300 percent higher than could reasonably be expected.
Richard James was fired by Metlife, but the company let police know about their suspicions. Police kept Richard under surveillance for a while and finally pieced it all together.
They were both arrested in 2002.
After three days of deliberations, a jury found them both guilty of murder, conspiracy and so on.
They face the death penalty when the sentencing phase of their trial begins in September.

I was wondering what happened to B Motilall and how low is he going to be in Jail. Because he need to know that his wife is threathing other women and taking their husband away. She is fooling these men with all the housed Motilall owns. He has a three famaly and a one family and his wife Lilowitie Motilall is tricking the Welfare collecting Welfare Under the name of Lilowitie Persaud and is also tricking the IRS claiming she is taking care of Motilall in Jail. The wife is out carrying out her fraud scheme and no one catch up with her. She works at Trade Fair Supermarket at 75 th Street and 37 Ave, Jackson Height, six days a week from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm with only Sundays off. Her parents is also on welfare. The more money she has the more she wants. She recently boughts a two family house at 120-11-107th Ave South Richmond Hill, 11419. This house is bought under a family member name Christina Perter.She is supporting her family at the Kali Temple, Lewis Pancham located at 107-34-Inwood Street, Jamaica Queens and her buddy friend Davendranath Suckhu and his lover Sanita Persaud at another Kali Temple located at150-20 corner Suptin and Linden Blvd in Jamaica Queens. She has a business marriage to Motilall cousin to come into the United States and today she is an American Citizen and the father of her childern in Jail without a Green Card. According to the news he is giving information in return for U.S residency. How come he does not have a green card? His eldest daughter with Lilowities is 18 years and immigaration was not wise enought to catch up with Lilowities. This is Motilall real wife.She is getting away with too much and no one does anything. ICE love to take away other people green card and citizenship but it is ok for Lilowities to marry B.
