    Graham Coutts

Graham CouttsThis is 36-year-old Graham Coutts.

Graham had an interesting little sexual fantasy.

In 1991, Coutts admitted to psychiatrists that he enjoyed thinking ‘murderous thoughts’ about women ‘every day since being a teenager.’

According to Graham Coutts, he was aroused by the idea of strangling women and told doctors that he was worried the fetish could lead to ‘criminal behavior.’

Graham spent hours roaming on the Internet, looking for images of dead women, strangled, strung-up or lying on mortuary tables. He bought snuff videos, two of which were titled ‘Psycho Sisters’ and ‘Murder x2.’

On the 14th of March, 2003, Graham Coutts turned his little fantasy into reality. That was the day that Jane Longhurst, a friend of Lisa Stephens (Graham’s pregnant girlfriend) called. Graham arranged to pick Jane up, drove her back to his house, then jumped on her.

As she was down on the ground facing her murderer, Jane Longhurst’s last sight was Graham Coutts holding a pair of his girlfriend’s tights around Jane’s neck with one of his hands – while his other hand was spanking the monkey.

Now that he had what he was looking for all his life – a dead woman’s body – Graham decided to keep it for a while. He put her body into a box, threw her clothes on top of her and stored the body in his garden shed for 11 days before finally driving Jane’s body to a rented storage facility.

She stayed there for about a month.

The smell alerted someone, however, and Graham Coutts was arrested.

Arrested, charged, tried, found guilty – and then released on appeal.

Graham Coutts probably thought that he was home free.

The 2004 murder conviction for his March 14th of 2003 strangulation killing of Jane Longhurst had been overturned on appeal.

All he had to do now was convince another jury during his retrial that he didn’t do it on purpose.

The jury would have to ignore the fact that after Jane Longhurst’s death, Graham Coutts put her body in storage and kept visiting it to masturbate, displaying a disturbing fetish for necrophilia.

They would have to ignore the fact that he regularly watched extreme pornography that was based on strangling women and having sex with their corpses.

Jane LonghurstThey would have to ignore the fact that pathologists indicated that Graham Coutts strangled Jane Longhurst long after it was apparent that she was in danger and for a while after she was actually dead.

Well, they didn’t ignore those facts.

On July 4th, 2007, Graham Coutts was again found guilty of strangling Jane Longhurst to death with a pair of tights.

Graham Coutts was given a life sentence with a recommended minimum term of 30 years.
