Paul Hinkley
Paul Hinkley, a 69-year-old ex-Coast Guard sailor with three adult children, was the well-to-do founder of the JMJ Cross Enterprises engineering consulting business. He freely admitted to FBI agents that he intended to have sex with the mother and daughter, that he believed the girl was 11 and that he planned to tie her up with rope.
Paul Hinkley was hit with charges of crossing state lines intending to engage in sexual activities with an underage girl, using the Internet to attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activities and with traveling in interstate commerce for sex with a minor.
If Paul Hinkley is convicted of all charges, he faces a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of life in prison.
If you really think about it though, how long is a life sentence, really, for a 69-year-old white-haired pedophile in prison with sado-masochistic tendencies?

MICHAEL J. GARCIA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that PAUL HINKLEY was sentenced yesterday to ten years in prison on charges of attempting to entice a person he believed to be an eleven-year-old girl to engage in sexual activities. HINKLEY pleaded guilty on March 20, 2008, in Manhattan federal court to one count of using the Internet to attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activities and one count of traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual activities with an individual under eighteen. HINKLEY, 71, was sentenced yesterday by United States District Judge LEWIS A. KAPLAN. According to the documents filed in the case and statements made during the guilty plea and sentencing proceedings:
From January through July 2007, HINKLEY engaged in Internet conversations with “Cassie,” an individual HINKLEY believed to be an eleven-year-old girl, and “Sheryl,” whom HINKLEY believed to be “Cassie’s” mother. In fact, both “Cassie” and “Sheryl” were an undercover officer with the Cañon City Police Department in Cañon City, Colorado. During these conversations, HINKLEY explicitly and graphically described to both “Cassie” and “Sheryl” the sexual activities he planned to engage in with them when the three met in person.
In the Internet conversations and in several telephone calls with the undercover officer, HINKLEY invited “Sheryl” and “Cassie” to travel to New York and agreed to pay for hotel and meal expenses during their visit. HINKLEY also used his credit card to reserve a hotel room for the nights that he believed “Sheryl” and “Cassie” would be in New York. He also agreed to pick them up at the airport when they landed. In a conversation that took place on June 26, 2007, HINKLEY told “Sheryl” that “this is a glorious threesome i am looking forward too.”
On July 16, 2007, HINKLEY drove to Newark Liberty International Airport from New York, intending to meet “Sheryl” and “Cassie” on the flight the undercover told him they had boarded. Agents located HINKLEY standing outside the arrivals area of the terminal where the flight was scheduled to land. Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) called the cellphone number that he had provided “Sheryl” in an Internet conversation, and when HINKLEY reached into a pouch to answer the phone, agents placed him under arrest.
In the car HINKLEY drove to the airport, agents found rope, an enema bottle, condoms, and Viagra. HINKLEY admitted to FBI agents after the arrest that he intended to have sex with both “Sheryl” and “Cassie,” that he believed “Cassie” was eleven years old, and that he intended to use the rope to “tie her up.”

Even if he doesn’t, he’ll be 80 years old when he’s released, and, God willing, incapable of attaining/maintaining an erection, so we’ve got that going for us too. Of course it doesn’t change the fact that Paul Hinkley actually IS an living, breathing erection, but I don’t think that can hurt anyone any longer. Not for the next ten years, anyways.

Ain’t this loser something else eternal? I posted the DOJ press release about his sentencing last night, but for some reason it need to be moderated by admin before it’ll show up. To summarize it, he plead guilty on March 20th of this year, and was sentenced to 10 years in a Federal Prison on July 22nd. Doesn’t seem like enough, until you remember that he’s 70 years old and there’s no parole in the Fed Prison System, so he’ll have to serve every day of that 10 years. At his age, that’s a long, long time.

well while he did a horrible victimless crime he appearently lived 69 years never having been convicted of anything. also he served his country honorably in the coast guard. he created an engineering business that gave jobs to many. he fathered some children and never got divorced. until the crime a wonderful man.
now the engineering business has folded as he is in jail for the rest of his life. the workers are old and cannot get jobs other firms. they have been forced to retire,sell their homes and live on the poverty line. grandchildren have been born to mr. hinkley and they have been denied the right to see their grandfather.
it seems to me that all these facts should have been considered and mr. hinkley given only one year in jail subject to taking the medicine precscribed by his psychiatrist to keep his chemical balance. ( men approaching 70 often get a chemical imbalance leading to silly sexual fantasy and other mental health issues).
Judge Weinstein is advocating that federal judges have the power to issue sentences below the guidlines for people like mr. hinkley.
understand the federal judge for mr. hinkley’s case gave mr. hinkley the minimum sentence allowed under the guidellines. VERY SAD.
