Derris Smith
17-year-old Derris Smith had it made.
He was young – his 18th birthday was just coming up.
He had a 20-year-old source of nookie, his girlfriend Sasha Glenn.
She even let Derris Smith live with her in her apartment.
The only problem Derris Smith had was Sasha Glenn’s 18-month-old son, Malakai Glenn.
The little guy was having a rough time figuring out the potty.
Now, this isn’t entirely unusual, because boys can have an especially hard time getting potty trained before 2 1/2 years – but Derris Smith was getting frustrated.
On the morning of June 27, Derris took Malakai, who was wearing pull-up diapers, out of the bed that all three were sleeping in, and put the little guy onto the toddler potty that was in the same room.
Sasha Glenn put a pillow and stool in front of him, so he could rest his head, and they all went back to sleep.
Derris woke up and saw Malakai asleep on the pillow. This pissed Derris off for some reason. He took the pillow and stool away and went back to sleep.
Malakai went all ninja and got the pillow and stool back while Derris was sleeping.
When Derris woke up and saw Malakai sleeping on the pillow again, he was even more upset.
How dare this 18-month-old boy disobey Derris Smith, the almighty master of the household?
Derris made Malakai stand on the stool as punishment, and Sasha Glenn left the room to go do some laundry.
While she was folding, Sasha heard the thump of something hitting the wall. She came back into the bedroom to see what was going on and saw Derris Smith holding her son Malakai by the pajama top.
Derris Smith had slammed the toddler against the wall and the door so hard that drywall was sticking to the back of the boy’s head.
Glenn took the boy and washed the back of his head off in the bathroom. She told Derris that Malakai had had enough.
Derris Smith insisted that the boy needed to learn, that he wasn’t listening. He took the boy from Sasha Glenn’s arms and smashed him against the wall again, telling her, “Don’t tell me what to do.” Malakai was then thrown onto the bed by Derris.
Sasha Glenn picked the boy up as he tried to move, this little 18-month-old baby who was just learning how everything worked and who depended on mommy to protect him. She picked Malakai up and held him while he put his arms around her and looked at her with big, wide eyes.
Then Malakai Glenn went limp.
The two tried to revive the toddler. They tried getting him to drink water. They put him in the shower. Nothing worked.
Finally, they called 911 and told the police Malakai had fallen down the stairs.
Malakai never woke up. He died after a brief hospitalization at a Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.
After the boy died, Sasha Glenn fessed up and told the truth.
Derris Smith has been charged with murder, which has made him cry a few times.
Update:
On the 12th of February, 2008, after a jury found Derris Smith guilty on charges of murder, felonious assault and child endangering, Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Beth Myers has sentenced him to life in prison. Judge Myers also announced that 18-year-old Derris Smith is not eligible for parole for at least 31 years.

I think I want to vomit. I cant imagine putting a little boy on a stool and expecting him to sit there. Much less having him sit there and sleep at the same time. The mother needs to go to jail as well. Trash all of them.
i do believe the mother allowed it to happen,i would have went crazy on any one touching my baby,she fail him as a parent
Who voted that this man doesn’t belong in hell. He killed a BABY because he was too lazy to actually care for the child and thought his own comfort was more important. The mom needs a little purgatory herself, no man would dare lay a hand on my child. She had to have seen a streak of this violence in Smith before. I sincerely hope that someone slams his head into the wall while he rots in prison. I think I will go give a big hug to my 2 year old (who is still learning to potty train), my heart goes out to that baby.
I was shocked at the 4% that didn’t think this guy should go to hell…I was even more shocked that we couldn’t vote on the mother going to hell too…Imagining them both being dipped in a hot vat of oil puts a smile on my face…but then i think of this poor baby and want to just cry….Send them to my house….I would love to give them a preview of hell…
Im cj and im 16. Well first off i want to say that this guy doas deserve hell. I personally know him myself because i just happened to do six months in hillcrest (a hamilton county juvinile detention center) with him. At the time i spent with him he showed no remourse for his crime and had the type of attitude that he was better than every other human. I guess he’s a real gangster..
Judge thomas Lipps is the one who sent this murderer to only do six months in boys school while i was there for theft, so i guess he deserves hell too.

1 question please: Are you saying that this guy is FREE of all charges after nly 6 months?
If so, there just is no justice in this world. I hope and pray that no other woman ever lets him near her child.
They both need to burn in hell wearing gasoline drawers. The mother is just as much to blame for allowing someone to abuse her child and then lie about it. And what kind of parent gives their child a pillow and stool while they potty train. This lazy bitch should have gotten her triflin ass out of bed!!! I hope they both burn in hell!!!
I think the mother should be punished as well why in the sam hell did she let him do that to her child why didnt she fight back or pick up the child and leave….did she get charged with anything….cause she should if it came down to my son and someone hurting him I’d fight to my last breath

This sounds very similiar to a case in my town. There was an idiot named Craig Johnson or Jackson. I can’t really remember now but he got mad at his girlfriend’s 2 year because he pooped his pants and hit him so hard that he lacerated his liver. What I don’t understand about this is teh mother. Why would you allow a man to not just once smash your son’s head into the wall but then take that child from you and do it again. I would kill my husband before he got another shot at our son. They were both so lazy that they couldn’t teach this child how to potty train this child. Potty training was foreign to this baby. What a bunch of ignorant people.
big man tries to be tough by slamming a baby against a wall? Let’s see him try that with a fellow prisoner. I’ve never been in prison, but I’m aware of the prisoner’s code about harming a child. Them folks is none too popular in the slammer!
