  • Calvin Sharp

Calvin SharpOn the 12th of August, 2007 at about 9 at night, Calvin Sharp showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s house.

Calvin Sharp didn’t call 33-year-old Sandra Ruiz first, because he knew she didn’t want to see him, having broken up with the druggie six months prior.

From the moment she opened the door to talk with him, they started arguing. Sandra Ruiz tried to get Calvin Sharp to stay outside, but he forced his way in and continued the argument there.

Sometime during the verbal confrontation, something snapped in Calvin. At about 9:30, Calvin Sharp got annoyed at Sandra Ruiz’s 6-year-old son, Sev’n Molina, and grabbed a meat cleaver from the kitchen.

Calvin Sharp chased the little boy out of the apartment, swinging that meat cleaver at the kid’s head and body.

Sevn MolinaThey all ran out into the courtyard of an apartment complex in Thousand Oaks, California, the terrified boy, the drug-crazed taxi driver, followed by the boy’s horrified mother.

Calvin Sharp, yelling that he was upset with the amount of video games the boy played, caught up with Sev’n and hacked at the boy’s head with the cleaver, killing him while shrieking, “Die die die.” The boy, terrified out of his mind, tried to scramble away, but Calvin was too fast - hitting the boy in the head several times.

Sandra Ruiz tried to stop the senseless attack on her son, but couldn’t keep the frenzied Calvin Sharp from his mission of mutilation. She was also stabbed and slashed by Calvin.

Her hand was nearly severed from her wrist.

A neighbor later told authorities, “You couldn’t even tell what color her hair was it was so bloody.”

Sandra RuizOnce Calvin focused his attack towards Sandra Ruiz, an older, 53-year-old woman named Diana Cox - who also lived at the apartment complex - ran at the 5-foot 8-inch Calvin and tackled him, knocking the meat cleaver out of his hand.

Once this woman had jumped in, another man ran in to help subdue Calvin Sharp, who, when police arrived, needed several shots from a tazer before he could be arrested.

Apparently, Calvin Sharp’s reason for initiating the slaughter was that his ex-girlfriend had cheated on him and was sleeping with all his friends.

Calvin Sharp has a MySpace page. Someone with access to it is changing it around a little bit. The picture that Calvin had featured was the one with him and the joint that I’ve posted. Now there’s one of him and a boy.

This boy doesn’t have a cleaver in his skull, however.

    Update:

Calvin Sharp 2Calvin Sharp appeared in court on the 29th of May, 2008 and again had his arraignment postponed to give more time for his lawyers to gather information from defense experts. Ventura County Superior Court Judge Kevin McGee set an arraignment date for November 17, 2008.

Justice seems to be being delayed here.

Prosecutor Maeve Fox said she expects a trial date to be set after Sharp is arraigned, and that the district attorney hasn’t decided whether to seek the death penalty. According to the prosecutor, she expects that Calvin Sharp’s lawyers will share information with the district attorney so prosecutors can make a better decision on whether the death penalty is applicable in the case.

Sharp’s lawyer, when asked whether he was considering entering a not guilty plea by reason of insanity for his client, replied:

We will consider all possible pleas that benefit our client.

Very hard to deal with this tragic story…. I know everyone that was involved… I grew up with Calvin and this is the least likely thing to happen… This is not a cold blooded murder……. This is a situation where a honest guy losses his mind on hardcore drugs… Overdose on crack and see demons is the real reason…. White sububia getting distroyed by insane drugs… The progression of drug use is quick and deadly… When Calvin comes down from his whicked high,,,, and gets told the nightmare that happened, He will commit suicide…. Listen up kids,,,,, stay clean… alcohol leads to petty drugs, petty drugs lead to hardcore drugs..hardcore drugs lead you into hell…

Calvin needs to be tied to a pole in a public place where anyone can come by and pick up a pair of pliers from a bucket placed nearby and just pull pieces of flesh from his bound body until he is rotting in Hell where he belongs!

Father, Brother, Son, no matter what…I would want anyone tortured the same way for his inexcusable acts.

Act like an animal…DRUGS OR NOT!…be treated like an animal.

Don’t give me that BOO HOO he was high story… I choose NOT to do drugs…..WHY????… because they make you end up in situations like this……

I’m sorry ….but there is NO EXCUSE for what he did…NONE!!! Try your best to justify it all you want, but it just makes YOU no better then him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who are we to judge others? Period. Work on yourself. I personally know Mr. Sharp as an acquaintance since high school. I could never imagine him doing something like this, and whatever happened inside him that day we will never understand. He snapped - no excuse for it and no explanation.

Writing about people burning in hell or torturing people like Calvin certainly does not help bring about a world with LESS evil, does it?

This is who I am, Sev’n and Sandra are my family, we will come for Calvin in our time. Whether he is released in 25 years we will wait. All you who defend Calvin your are him in our eyes. The La Familia will see that he finds his way to hell and he never get’s a chance to chase a another child. We will give him the same fate that he gave Lil Chino, we will let him run from us through the Everglades. Lil Chino suffering will be his. UR HOOD thank you for your comments other family members want us to stand down, but no one in our family has committed crimes such as this and if I was I too deserve a slow painful death. There are no excuses Calvin or friends of CALVIN.

I know Calvin very well. He’s been slippin off for months now, and I couldn’t do a thing to talk him out of his addicitons or anything else negitive. It’s beyond any of our discriptions, what he became that night, what he did, and now what he awaits… I can asure you he’s torrmented at this very moment. And anyone that knows him well or just knew him casualy is going through the same suffering with him, right now. We all can’t comprehend this nightmare, and I personally never will be able to. Even though Calvin was one of my tightest friends, I have to realize that he permenently stepped into another dimention when he did this. And yes, For Sure, a demon most deffinantly aided him in his actions. And there was probebly not much anyone couldve done to change his addicted mind. Demons are very real in fact, and the world is only getting worse the more people shuv God out of their life. He’s created this situation for everone to live with. And unfourtinantly, the people who didn’t know him the way we did don’t need to comprehend what someone used to be like or how we feel. Two lives are irriversible in this bleak situation, it’s agonizing to think and say, but he knows just as we do, there is nothing more to it. At this point we can only pray for the people he has devistated.
As for God , situations like this are why people should consider learning about truth. The real truth of why and what we are really here for. If we lived our lives in the exact manner of the example which lived and died for us, if we truely believed with all our heart and soul and mind in the truth which is God, if we put nothing else first but God, and ignored this f-ed up filthy world of illusions, than nightmares like this would not happen.
Everyone should intuitivley know that this little boy who’s been taken away from this earth and his mother is with God in pure love right now.
Remember what the word say’s Pray for sinners, God say’s ” vengence is mine”,

in God’s eyes, all sins are the same. to avert your eyes from him for one second is allowing the Devil to tempt you and mess up your mind. so yes a sin is a sin. God doesn’t have degrees of sin as we do, we do it to justify our own unbelievable actions, as an excuse to get us out of the trouble we have caused ourselves. Calvin dug himself into a grave which he cannot and probably does not want to escape, don’t get me wrong i do not condone or excuse his actions but he is a child of God as we all are if you are of the christian belief and he will have the opportunity to ask God’s forgiveness for his actions. It’s not up to us whether he goes to heaven or hell, it is between him and God! I pray for his soul as well as well as those who lost this beautiful boy!!

Mandy, there’s no need for sarcasm. Everyone has a reason for why they snap and do unpredictable and unconscionable things. Just because i don’t condemn him to hell doesn’t mean i’m ok with what he did. Don’t get angry with me for his actions. But it is not our for us to send him to hell or heaven. Which is a good thing because if humans were responsible for that, many innocent people would be in hell burning as we speak. Humans tend to act out in the heat of passion, we instantly want to inflict pain on those we feel have inflicted pain on us. We do not distance ourselves from the situation long enough to think things through. Yes, i believe he is guilty, but not everybody we judge are. There are inmates in prison that are truly innocent of the crimes they are being punished for and until recently due to DNA technology they’ve died in those prisons. Look also at the other countries where they put women in jail for crimes they didn’t commit all because the men feel they are superior to women, is that fair. I think not. We dig ourselves into our own anguish because we act out too quickly, and let our emotions control us. Instead of stepping back and allowing God to help us think things through. Even if you do not believe in God, you should still sit back and think about what happened, and realize, punishment will be served, whether by our own hands or by God’s. I prefer to keep it in God’s hands because it would make me no better than that horrid person.

YES. im not judging him these are the hard core facts. so everyone who thinks this is judging Go back to school. because of ignorance my lil cousin is dead. because a man couldnt take no for an answere. and because of this sev’n is dead and two kids probably wont see their father in a long time. DONT YOU HATE IGNORANCE. so many people talk about politics and religion but never live what they beleive. i mean you still have the black and white issue wherever you go, and some people were not even alive when it happend. Dr. King didnt die for this i mean commom people understand that this world is full of people that do wrong . IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION ,YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

In response to the earlier comment that a sin is a sin:
In Matthew 5:21-28, Jesus equates committing adultery with having lust in your heart, and committing murder with having hatred in your heart. However, this does not mean the sins are equal. What Jesus was trying to get across to the Pharisees was that it is still sin even if you only think about or want to do the act. The religious leaders of Jesus’ day taught people that it was okay to think about anything you wanted to, as long as you did not act on those desires. Jesus is forcing them to realize that God judges a person’s thoughts as well as their actions. Jesus proclaimed that our actions are the results of what is in our hearts (Matthew 12:34).

Imagine the terror that little boy felt at that moment. I cannot imagine that Sharp has ever or will ever have to face such horror in his life–drugs or not. In addition, the poor mother has to witness all of this. Men like this don’t just snap–it is inevitable that some tragedy will befall those in their path. For those acquainted with Sharp, he has, unfortunately, become his destructive lifestyle. It is sad. But, you cannot blame people for being horrified. The death of anyone, especially a child, should be met with disdain. People have all sorts of problems, but we cannot let drugs, insanity, jealousy or any of the charged emotions we feel as humans be an excuse to lay our hands on anyone. It was not Sharps right to hurt this boy, and he has to face the consequences, be it here on earth or what lays beyond. All the foul language and finger pointing won’t change that boys last few moments on earth, nor will it change that Sharp is now a murderer.

Just one note for the bitchy side of me: there is a tool called spell check–use it.

Seriously folks, think with reason here. The whole ‘God will judge’ stance is alarming. This murder happened here, on Earth with the rest of us, and Mr. Sharp will be punished here as he should be. I can’t even imagine witnessing something like this, but I refuse to sit back and say that God played a role. If heaven and hell exists, I’m sure he’ll go where he belongs. As for the rest of us, we need to tighten legistlation against drugs, domestic violence, and do whatever we can to keep these things from happening in the future. Enough of the God talk, either in defense or accusation. We all agree whatever happened was sick, and unpredictable. Now that we got him, we need to work together to get the rest. He’s a murderer, and there are more out there like him.

I honestly can’t believe that a cop came across the scene of a mutilated, butchered child and his distraught, screaming, dismembered mother, with the murderer fighting two other people, and chose just to use the taser. He should have been shot and saved a jury of his peers from having to look at the gruesome photos of this slaughter.

If you come across a dog attacking someone, you kill it. Calvin Sharp is little better than a dog and should be put down like one. Anyone who defends this sick, inhuman monster probably doesn’t have kids.

If your family member or friend murdered someone, would you want them murdered as well? (ie: do you have any relatives/friends murdering children in the Middle East right now?)

Sorry, I won’t accept “that would never happen”, because that is what Calvin’s family & aquaintances are telling us. Sandra probably believed the same thing, which is why she invited him inside of her home.

Lets find out the truth about why Sandra and Calvin had a domestic dispute, so we can prevent this from happening again in the future, instead of continuing the religious hate and kill spree so many of you want to continue.

Nationwide statistics, such as the U.C.R. (what the police and FBI use), prove that the death penalty is proven to be NO DETERRANT TO CRIME. And the social, racial, financial, dating promiscuity, and other statistics all played against all of the poor people involved.

It is important for the families of the victims to get some mental help, to heal their own hate with God’s forgiveness. There is a common link between the hate of victims and how it creates further crime, hate and murder by the victims. And from the sound of the victim’s family, there is much dangerous hate that needs to be dealt with.

I am not sure that a “deterrent to crime” is what capital punishment was set up to provide. The bigger question is: what do we, as a society, do with someone who has committed such a grievous crime against another? Is a cell for the rest of their life punishment enough? I am not a proponent of capital punishment, necessarily. I wonder if more would be gained by stripping these people of citizenship and rights, in essence “killing” their right to live among the rest of the world. Jail can be somewhat cushy in the sense that their needs are attended to in regards to food and healthcare. There are a lot of good people who don’t have access to the things inmates are given. How long would anyone survive without the right of belonging somewhere?

There is no hell or heaven. Sev’n is not in heaven smiling to us from above. Don’t tell these fairytales to adult people. It’s not comforting because it is so irreal and simply untrue. A boy was hacked into pieces, and God left him alone. Why do you pray to a God who let this happen? You christians have for the God’s fail 1000 of excuses - but there is NO excuse for the horribly painful death of an innocent child.
      You can tell this sheeps.

Life is not a fairytale, death is not a fairytale. There is no evil that is from devil - all humans are responsable for their actions. Some people are mad, some are mental ill and some are simply cruel. The death penalty is not the answer. To stay in prison for your whole life, thinking every day about your crime and the victims is much more cruel than the death penalty. After death all is over, in prison the pain excists every second, minute, hour, day and year after year.
