Meet 32-year-old convenience store clerk Kevin Wayne Anders.
Kevin Anders is a hot property down in Navarro Mills Lake, Texas. Although he’s married, he still manages to keep a girlfriend, whose name is Dana Mack.
Dana Mack works as a dishwasher at the Navarro Mills Café. Just a few months ago, she had recently moved to Navarro Mills with her 6-year-old daughter, Hanna Mack, and two older daughters.
Dana Mack knew that Kevin Anders was married, but still chose to bring him into her home.
Hanna Mack had just started the first grade this year at Blooming Grove Elementary School. She enjoyed jumping rope, playing hopscotch and riding her little pink and purple bicycle. According to her grandmother, Hanna was especially excited about starting school, because she loved books and could see her new friends every day.
Dana Mack last saw her little girl sleeping on the living-room couch at about 1 in the morning, right before she went to bed.
Less than 7 hours later, Dana Mack would find her daughter dead, hanging from the rafters in the family garage which was housing an above-ground swimming pool.
Hanna Mack was dead, when she should have been getting ready for school.
That Monday morning, the 10th of September, 2007, police descended upon the murder scene, scouring the house for clues.
There was a rumor that a 13-year-old special needs boy had done it. Nobody knows where the rumor was started.
While investigating the murder, authorities asked state caseworkers not to reveal whether or not Hanna Mack’s family had been investigated by child protective services. A spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has stated that this type of request is rather unusual.
Early on Wednesday, September 12th, authorities revealed that medical examiners had determined that Hanna Mack had, indeed, been sexually traumatized before she had been killed.
Her death? Caused by “homicidal violence.”
Hanna had been beaten, raped, and then hung.
While going through a computer taken from the Mack home on Tuesday, criminal investigators found the presence of child pornography. That was enough to get a warrant for Kevin Wayne Anders’ arrest. He’s sitting in the county jail right now, waiting.
Everyone’s waiting, in fact. Waiting for DNA tests that will either possibly clear Kevin Anders or make potential murder charges against him that much stronger.
Authorities have stated that Hanna Mack’s murder does potentially qualify for Texas’s capital murder statute.
Kevin Wayne Anders, if found guilty, could be given the death penalty.
Right now, his charge of possession of child pornography is only a third-degree felony.

(1) Anders was married and having an affair with a woman who had 3 children. Guess he liked being around children.
(2) The woman knew he was cheating on his wife but she welcomed the creep into her home and exposed her children to this piece of trash. Nice example for a mom to give her children.
(3) The child was sexually assaulted, beaten and hung inside her own home. How could this happen with no one else hearing it ? The child had to have put up a frightening protest. Why didn’t her mom hear her cries of terror and pain ? A 6 year old getting raped and beaten would be in absolute agony. Where was her family? How could they sleep through this lamb’s slaughter?

(5) Anders had kiddie porn on the computer. He fantasized about this.

But I still don’t get what goes wrong with people’s brains to do things like this. It happens all the time but every single time I hear another story and see another picture of a darling little girl, I just don’t get it. How can people do this?
Sexual abuse on a child this small will never cease to blow my mind. How does a grown man fit into something so small? She had to have been ripped apart. Poor baby. Terror, pain, then death. This bastard needs to have the same done to him. And kiddie porn … where do these images come from? How can we stop this? So many questions with so little answers …

wow, that woman is unbelievable. She doesn’t even conisder her so-called “boyfriend” had anything to do with it. she sounds like she’s commenting on the death of someone else’s child. If i had found my daughter hanged i’d be in the looney bin, not out doing interviews. Maybe she was given sedatives to calm her down. if so that might be why she sounds like that. Yeah, that mom did seem pretty calm for just having her daughter raped and murdered. She’s got to be on something. As for Anders’s involvement in a prior hanging, it DOES sound weird. In describing the differences in the two cases, one that I found funny was that he was inside during the first hanging when the body was found. Wasn’t he inside when the mother found this body? I don’t know. I don’t think they should rule out the possibility of him being involved in the “suicide” just yet.

Well, that was the first thing that crossed my mind, too. Just seems like a weird situation. How often do you find a molested child in a pedo’s house, and the pedo there wasn’t the pedo that attacked her? That was a hell of a sentence. Anyway, I found it strange too.
Check out this thread on the Arender case Max…im wonderng why CPS was involved? Was there some previous report that the girl was being molested? And just because there was kiddie porn on the family computer, does not mean it was Anders. Women an be pedophiles too. Was the mum somehow involved? This case has way too many unanswered questions for me.
Thats a good point Amy. I mean – of all the people that a SO could target and kill, why would he choose one who’s mama has a thing for pedos? Or is a pedo herself?
On the other hand – child porn can be “stretched” to some degree. I think that they can call stuff like “16 year old swedish hot tub bunnies” child porn, even if the “actors are really over aged. That is nowhere near the same as photo’s of baby raping, but it may be enough to cast suspicion on a person, like it did to Anders.
Apparently Arender, the man charged with Hanna’s murder has a long rap sheet and has spent time in a state facility for young people with serious mental problems. And as the update informed us, he is on suicide watch and clearly not mentally stable. And i dont doubt he was involved. But i still think theres more to the story.

I am not one to get overly emotional about most anything, being a tough he-man, ya know. But this freaking story almost brought tears to my eyes. Not only from what this sick POS did to this little girl. But, the photo of Hanna really drove the nature of this horrendous crime, home.
