A neighbor of Hanna Mack’s family has been charged with the first-grader’s murder.
Shaun Earl Arender, a 19-year-old unemployed construction worker, has been arrested and is being held on a 2.5 million dollar bond in the local jail.
Shaun Earl Arender’s DNA has been matched with biological samples collected from the shirt that 6-year-old Hanna Mack was wearing at the crime scene where her body was found hanging in her family’s garage on the 10th of September.
Shaun Arender’s DNA was also matched with blood that authorities found on a kitchen knife found inside the girl’s house.
While Kevin Wayne Anders, Hanna Mack’s mom’s live-in boyfriend, was originally the prime suspect, he was only arrested and charged with the possession of child pornography. He currently remains in jail on that charge.
It seems that Shaun Earl Arender, who was in jail since his arrest on the 12th of September for burglary and marijuana possession, will be the one on trial for Hanna Mack’s murder.
When he was questioned on Wednesday, the 26th of September about how his DNA was found on the scene, Shaun Arender refused to talk, choosing instead to put his head down on the table in front of him and cry.
Shaun Arender cut himself with a piece of glass two days before the DNA match was made and was taken to the hospital.
When asked why he did it, Mr. Arender said he cut himself because he was depressed.
Shaun Arender’s family has apologized for his behavior.

yeah I personally no this person he I was his caseworker when he was in the Texas Youth Commission. Needless to say from my personal experience with him he did it. He is a real sick bastard that couldnt handle dropping the soap so he takes it out on a little girl. If you are looking for some type of long trial or media circus you will not find it here. He is worthless bastard who will punch his own ticket to hell rather than stand trial and be accountable for his actions. Who does this? Who can be so rotten through and through, so evil, so souless as to torture and murder an innocent child? It’s bad enough that animals roam our streets and prey on adults but at least you can hope that they were able to fight for themselves or comfort yourself with the fact that an adult had at least some chance to lead a life before they were murdered. But with a child, you have none of these comforts. And therefore, I think that no one who harms a child in this manner should receive anything but the worst penalties we can devise for them. This guy should be raped and murdered and hung from a garage rafter. And I agree with the above about the boyfriend, Kevin Anders, not being off the hook. Whatever is the stiffest penalty for possession of child porn, he should get. On top of that, I really hope they check into whether Kevin Anders had anything to do with Shawn Arender getting access to this child. Two pedophiles in such close proximity to one little girl? What are the odds it’s nothing but mere coincidence?

Why is it that the ones who are the most worthless and stupid morons have access to those that are bright, happy, and innocent? The justice system lets so many of them out to commit more heinous crimes on people who have a life, until they are forced to put them away for good, and then they still get out eventually and kill again. Why is it multiple innocent victims have to die horribly before the justice system does what it should have done the first time; execute them? Our system is run by cowards who don’t want any personal responsibility for the execution of justice; so the rest of us - and our children - suffer. It takes the rape and murder of an innocent child to put a piece of scum like this away. The man who commited the Rochester murders had abducted, raped and murdered two 5 year-old girls - and then was eventually paroled, because of his age. He went on to kill several protitutes before he was killed again. That’s how bad it is in our country’s “justice” system.

The mother of the little girl, or the mother of the POS who killed her?
From what I’ve read, the girl’s mother had taken up with a POS who got found with child porn on his computer, and was initially the main suspect.
Where was the mother of the perp? No idea. I haven’t read any news that gives details of that.
But, beyond that, I’d like to ask, where were these children’s fathers? Both the girl who was murdered’s father, and the perp’s father. Where were they? Yes, the mothers should be scrutinized, but in many of these sad stories, nobody even asks where the fathers were, as if they aren’t of any importance.
I think it’s a disservice to men to not ask where their fathers were. Fathers, at least the cool, loving kind, seem to be nowhere, yet I know they exist, because I had one. Fathers are very important to children… for boys, as an example of what a responsible man is, and for girls, as an example of the kind of man she should want as a mate. These examples are very hetero, I know… I’m sure they’re important to every child, no matter what their sexual orientation.
Unless the victim or the perp was made in a test tube, the first TWO questions I think should be asked are… where was the mother? Where was the father? They’re both pretty important, y’know?
I think this would be a good time to point out that when you are not with your children’s father (or even if you are), and you are not a loser abuser/molestor yourself, you should know exactly what is on your home computers. People who tend to save and download child pornography, especially knowing the consequences, probably shouldn’t be someone you are doing laundry for and letting around your children. Among other things. Blech.
In this case, who’s to say the perp teen down the road didn’t just beat the perv stepdaddy to the punch. And honestly, at this point, nobody really does. Just because one person killed her doesn’t mean someone else didn’t molest her.
I absolutely agree with admin in that you should spring for the few bucks it takes to investigate people you are going to date or allow around your children. Unless you think your kids aren’t worth it.
