Robert Farquharson
An interesting trivia bit: Father’s Day in Australia isn’t in June, as it is in the United States. It’s in September.
38-year-old Robert Farquharson’s kids, 10-year-old Jai, 7-year-old Tyler and 2-year-old Bailey had been visiting with their dad over Father’s Day.
In Australia.
Robert had divorced his wife, Cindy Gambino, in 2004 after four years of marriage and 14 years of being together.
He was still a little bitter about it. His wife got the good car, and he got the 1989 VN Commodore.
‘s friend Greg King, a bus driver, mentioned that a few months before that Father’s Day, Farquharson told him that he was going to make his ex-wife pay by taking away the most important things to her.
Greg King also said that Robert had said that if he did anything to her, he would make sure that he did it on a holiday like Father’s Day, so his ex-wife would remember it the rest of her life.
Hmmm.
As he was driving his three children home to their mother’s, at about 7 in the evening on the fourth of September, 2005, Robert Farquharson’s car swerved across the road, smashed through a fence and plunged into a dammed body of water on a rural farm.
Robert Farquharson managed to extricate himself from the car, swim to shore, flag down a passing car and get a ride to a nearby town. The driver, Shane Atkinson, tried to get Mr. Farquharson to call emergency services, but Robert repeatedly told him that he would rather get to his ex-wife’s house in Winchelsea and tell her about the kid’s demise in person.
Nice guy.
Divers recovered the bodies of the three children at 2 in the morning. Jai’s body was hanging out the front passenger door. The other two kids were in the back seat.
Examination of the scene didn’t quite match up with what Robert Farquharson said happened, however.
Robert said that he had passed out from a coughing fit and woken up when the car was under water.
If that was true, then why were the car’s headlights, heater and ignition system all set to the off position?
Why did recreations of the accident suggest that the driver would have to turn the steering wheel 220 degrees to leave the road as it did?
The farmer who owned the dam mentioned that in the many years that he’d owned that fence, he’d seen less than ten accidents where the cars had gone through it, and none of them had come close to the water.
Arrested and charged with three counts of murder, Farquharson’s trial lasted six weeks. In the end, after three days of deliberations, Robert Farquharson was found guilty of all three counts of murder on the fifth of October, 2007.

Son-of-a-bitch Susan Smith in drag.
I didn’t read the date at first and my instant thought was “this sounds familiar, didn’t this happen a few years ago?”
This was a really sad story, I hope this dude rots.
Yeah it happened a few years ago, but he was just recently found guilty.
Now for the endless appeals…
Wow, that is pretty messed up. The kids had nothing to do with their problems. These were innocent, beautiful children!
Do you think that anyone will ever be able to answer the big fat question of—- WHY???? I mean, my kids drive me nuts and I can’t stand my ex. But to KILL THEM?? Nu-uh. The thought of ANYONE harming them-I would kill any mofo who hurt even a hair on my babies. To actually do something like that to someone whom you gave LIFE to, who looked up to you….who called you Daddy. This fuck needs to rot in jail. Asshole.
Seriously, being Mother’s Day and all, I just can’t begin to fathom what comes over some people. I don’t care how much my husband pisses me off–and believe me, he pisses me off plenty–NEVER, EVER would I consider hurting my children as “punishment” for him! I can’t even imagine divorcing and keeping the kids away from him out of spite the way some people do. Sick, Sick, Sick!
I hope they come to there senses and kill the fucker. Three children are murdered and one man goes to JAIL? they outta drown him, the same way he killed his own children! he’s disgusting
Sometimes we have to revisit certain individuals, especially those who did not seem to catch our attention the first time around. This is definitely one of them.
As we move through this post 9/11 time and look into the events of our military in Cuba, we can not say all things that come from it our bad. Such as their new forms of interrogation. They could easily be used for other things. Such as helping Mr. Fart hard on self relive his actions.
In this instance I am reminded of waterboarding. It’s always been a popular sport for obtaining information. In this instance I figure our POS could instead endure say 20 years for each boy. No, I don’t mean to do it to him for a few hours every day. That would be cruel and unusual punishment for him to have to wake up each morning knowing it will happen.
Instead let’s make it a little more humane. We will do it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 60 years. Strap him to a board, grab turtles electric bitch collar and allow Amy to hold the remote as we proceed to dunk him. No shocking while he’s in the water, just while he’s out trying to breathe.
Im all for holding the remote. Id consider it a privlege.
We have had many stories here in Australia just like this one in the past ten years.
Having been through two failed relationships, one of them violent, this was always one of my biggest fears. That if he could not have them with him, he would make sure i could not either.
I could not even begin to imagine life without even one of my children, let alone to have to wake up every day knowing that all of them were gone.
How absolutely horrific…!!!!I’m not too fond of my ex…but never in a lifetime would i even contemplate drowning my own flesh and blood….the dumb ass is obviously a selfish git, who needs to be tied up and sunk with weights into a freakin deep ocean, somewhere in the pacific.. i just can’t stand these types of individuals that think they must do everything theie own way..his surname says it all..
I try to take a very spiritual view of life. It’s so short, and yet people do things to ruin it all.
Why not be content with visitation, or watching your children grow from afar?
Our emotions are very powerful. Hard for many people to tame them, I guess.
It’s stories like this one that just make my stomach turn and I find myself absolutely horrified by what some people will do to children. How could he do that to his own children!? The man has NO CONSCIENCE or SOUL or WHATEVER most of us have that makes us go “HOLY SHIT THAT’S A HORRIBLE THING TO DO!!”
What a fucking asshole. Just so sad.
