  • Robert Farquharson

Robert FarquharsonAn interesting trivia bit: Father’s Day in Australia isn’t in June, as it is in the United States. It’s in September.

38-year-old Robert Farquharson’s kids, 10-year-old Jai, 7-year-old Tyler and 2-year-old Bailey had been visiting with their dad over Father’s Day.

    In Australia.

Robert had divorced his wife, Cindy Gambino, in 2004 after four years of marriage and 14 years of being together.

He was still a little bitter about it. His wife got the good car, and he got the 1989 VN Commodore.

’s friend Greg King, a bus driver, mentioned that a few months before that Father’s Day, Farquharson told him that he was going to make his ex-wife pay by taking away the most important things to her.

Greg King also said that Robert had said that if he did anything to her, he would make sure that he did it on a holiday like Father’s Day, so his ex-wife would remember it the rest of her life.

    Hmmm.

Robert Farquharson sonsAs he was driving his three children home to their mother’s, at about 7 in the evening on the fourth of September, 2005, Robert Farquharson’s car swerved across the road, smashed through a fence and plunged into a dammed body of water on a rural farm.

Robert Farquharson managed to extricate himself from the car, swim to shore, flag down a passing car and get a ride to a nearby town. The driver, Shane Atkinson, tried to get Mr. Farquharson to call emergency services, but Robert repeatedly told him that he would rather get to his ex-wife’s house in Winchelsea and tell her about the kid’s demise in person.

    Nice guy.

Divers recovered the bodies of the three children at 2 in the morning. Jai’s body was hanging out the front passenger door. The other two kids were in the back seat.

Examination of the scene didn’t quite match up with what Robert Farquharson said happened, however.

Robert said that he had passed out from a coughing fit and woken up when the car was under water.

If that was true, then why were the car’s headlights, heater and ignition system all set to the off position?

Why did recreations of the accident suggest that the driver would have to turn the steering wheel 220 degrees to leave the road as it did?

The farmer who owned the dam mentioned that in the many years that he’d owned that fence, he’d seen less than ten accidents where the cars had gone through it, and none of them had come close to the water.

Arrested and charged with three counts of murder, Farquharson’s trial lasted six weeks. In the end, after three days of deliberations, Robert Farquharson was found guilty of all three counts of murder on the fifth of October, 2007.

    Does Robert Farquharson deserve Hell?

I didn’t read the date at first and my instant thought was “this sounds familiar, didn’t this happen a few years ago?”

This was a really sad story, I hope this dude rots.

Wow, that is pretty messed up. The kids had nothing to do with their problems. These were innocent, beautiful children!

Do you think that anyone will ever be able to answer the big fat question of—- WHY???? I mean, my kids drive me nuts and I can’t stand my ex. But to KILL THEM?? Nu-uh. The thought of ANYONE harming them-I would kill any mofo who hurt even a hair on my babies. To actually do something like that to someone whom you gave LIFE to, who looked up to you….who called you Daddy. This fuck needs to rot in jail. Asshole.

Seriously, being Mother’s Day and all, I just can’t begin to fathom what comes over some people. I don’t care how much my husband pisses me off–and believe me, he pisses me off plenty–NEVER, EVER would I consider hurting my children as “punishment” for him! I can’t even imagine divorcing and keeping the kids away from him out of spite the way some people do. Sick, Sick, Sick!
