Shawn Downey
On the 19th of October, 2007, 43-year-old Shawn Downey, a former Douglas County public defender, was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
What did he do, you ask?
Well, Shawn Downey gave the 14-year-old daughter of his girlfriend two drinks, then fondled and kissed her.
Hey, at least he didn’t rape her, kill her and dump her corpse in the Missouri river.
After charges were filed against him, Shawn Downey left Omaha and headed to Missouri, where he was arrested on drug possession charges and served a little jail time.
Once he was done with his time down there, Missouri authorities sent him back home to Nebraska.
Shawn Downey took a plea bargain and pled guilty to the reduced charges against him, which were third-degree assault and procuring alcohol for a minor.
Another public servant gone bad? Who would have thought?
Does Shawn Downey deserve Hell?

the guy could be described a pervert perhaps, but i don’t think perverts should go to hell. if i look at 14 year old girls nowadays, it’s only my common sense that stops me from making a pass at them (i’m 32 btw). for your record btw, here in Holland i would be allowed to do a 16 year old girl as long as she consented.
That’s why I put in the last voting option. If it wasn’t a local story, I wouldn’t have mentioned it.
Still, that certainly would make the girlfriend feel like he should go to Hell….

At the age of 14, girls usually have all the bits and bobs on them, which look pretty grown up to me. i’m not saying i’d actually want a relationship with a 14 year old girl, that *would* be weird. me looking at girls that age is not weird at all. any man that says he wont look at a big breasted 14 year old girl is a liar. there’s a 16 year old girl at the gym i go to who looks great, i was shocked (and maybe a little disapointed) to find out she was only 16, i thought she was at least 20.
See, I have a 13 year old daughter, and because of that, I have forced my self to rethink some things. As a daddy, I don’t want someone my age staring at her. And I am remise to admit that yes, a lot of 14 year olds and older are pretty nice looking. Not that I would touch them, but that is the difference. I would not give them a drink and fondle them, the worste I would ever do is look.

Granted…some girls at 14 are extremely developed. That being said, it’s the parents responsiblity to make sure that they are dressed appropriately. If they are going to flaunt what they got, and look 18, then yeah, old dirty men and regular men, and probably us lesbians are going to look twice. Look twice all you want, but if you know that she is still a child, then fuck, LOOK THE OTHER WAY, not a 3rd glance. DUH

i really am th girl that it happened to and im not lying im 20 now and his girlfried which is my mom ran away with him to missouri they ran away together and still had plans to get married…and to those who say it was the way i dressed should go to hell he did it on his own cause he was drunk… i was sitting here tonight and for some reason i looked it up and found this and i do want to thank the people who stood up and said it was the wrong thing to do it really does make me feel better .. but u know ut never effected me what he did i can always block thata out but u know my mom let it happen and left with him.. in my mind thats the most messed up thing anyone could ever do to me… but i still got my dad and thats all i need he was always there and thank u again to the people that stood up for me and the ones that make excuses i wish u could feel that terror i felt that night for 2 seconds u wouldnt be.. but wont kill us makes us stronger tess
