People You’ll See In Hell loves police stings, because they usually bring in perverts from all walks of life.
Take the sting done by Daytona Beach police on the first of November, 2007, for example.
Employees of the Sears store in a local mall had noticed that men were going into the second-floor restroom, staying in there for a little too long and leaving with way-too-satisfied smiles on their faces. Authorities were notified, authorities who are familiar with the underground culture of anonymous gay bathroom sex.
It’s like gay highway rest stop sex, only in a bathroom instead of at a highway rest stop.
If you go page through Craigslist sexual ads for a while, I’m sure you’ll find a “cruisy” bathroom in your neck of the woods.
So, without anything else to do on a Thursday, police set up a sting to catch the men who were sexually propositioning other men in the Sears bathroom.
Did they catch anyone? Of course they did!
They caught:
57-year-old Mike Shallow, a former Daytona Beach city commissioner and mayoral candidate
David Behringer, an athletic trainer and teacher at a local high school
48-year-old registered sex offender Douglas Benson, who has been caught while masturbating in the restroom of a children’s day care center
73-year-old Edgar Millard, who was charged in 2006 with sexual misconduct in a public bathroom
So we have a wide range of people interested in anonymous sex in Sears bathrooms. Odd fetish, really, although Sears is typically known as a “guy” store.
Officers stayed in the Sears bathroom for about 10 hours, from 10 in the morning until 8 at night. They observed 9 men who indicated they were looking for sex by coughing, sneezing, tapping their feet under the stall next to them, or making loud noises with their zippers over and over.
Others arrested in the sting include 37-year-old Sebastian Bach; 42-year-old Larry Brown DeBary; 46-year-old William Volage; 44-year-old Kenneth Halpin; and 73-year-old Ransom Peterson.
Everyone the police caught have been charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and exposure of a sexual organ. Both charges are misdemeanors.

For heaven’s sake, why waste time arresting people for consensual sex? (No, I don’t buy the arguments that it creates enough of a public nuisance to justify the statutes involved.) What a HUGE waste of resources. What claptrap.
