Jeremy Allan Steinke appeared in court today with his mother, aunt and grandma in his cheering section. He was told that his trial would be moved to another, larger location and pushed back into February of 2008.
He said one word when asked if he understood that his case was being adjourned.
“Yes.”
14-year-old Jasmine Richardson, who, on the 9th of July, 2007 was found guilty of killing her family in April of 2006, was also in court as she was sentenced today, on the 8th of November, 2007.
Only 12 years old at the time of the murder, she has refused to accept any responsibility as to what she did with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Jeremy Allan Steinke.
According to prosecutor Stephanie Cleary, Jasmine Richardson is seriously disturbed:
The young person does not recognize that she has committed a crime, nor does she have any insight into her condition.
What’s her sentence? Well, they gave her credit for the 18 months that she’s already served, and she’s going to be in custody for at least 4 more years, most of that served in a mental institution. Then she’ll be in community supervision for another 4 and a half years.
Ten years seems fair for killing three people, including her 8-year-old brother.
Don’t you think?

Wait… what? He was dating a 12 year old girl? Can you say Pedo? That’s wrong on so many levels, and not to mention the whole you know… murder thing.
I guess she might not understand the full impact of what she apparently did due to her age but think about it. Say she serves the ten years, then gets out. What social skills will she learn in that time? She’ll probably not really see a problem with killing people, and she’ll be let back out on the streets. Hooray!

if she doesn’t understand the impact of what she did, she needs to be kept locked in the looney bin for the rest of her life. she’s clearly devoid of a conscience and will probably be a threat to society if set free.

You’re all idiots.

oh come on, realistically yes, she didn’t stop him; however all she did was stab her brother, and by doing only that she would’ve: recieved assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, not stopping him, and maybe a few other charges. Realistically it was her boyfriend who slit the boys throat. And if it is true, he left her there. Yes she should’ve said something or called the police, but this “life that her boyfriend was probably promising her” was most likely blocking her views of logical sense.

Jasmine was my best friend and I knew a side of her that no one desires to aknowledge ever existed. Underneath that “murderer”, there was a kind, beautiful human being. She was greatly influenced, but she is still capable of change. At least now she can get the help she needs. I miss her family greatly, but I also miss her. Every single one of them brought so much light into my life and I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

It’s probably too early to call this one. Put her on some heavy medication and some shock therapy and lets take it from there.
