David Spears and Chris Collings Both Confess
Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland has told the press that both David Spears and Chris Collings have confessed to the rape and murder of David Spears’s stepdaughter, Rowan Ford.
Ken Copeland told the press:
David said he came in, checked Rowan’s room and found she was gone. He said he knew Chris had gotten her and taken her to his house. He got there, and Chris was raping her. He raped her too. Then they thought they would be in trouble, so they killed her and threw her in a hole.
According to Mark Bridges, the Newton County Coroner, David Spears actually walked him to the place where Rowan Ford’s body was hidden – the day before the body was found.
Mark Bridges has told the press that on the eighth of November, he and David went around looking for places where “someone” could have hidden Rowan Ford’s body.
The very first place that David Spears wanted to check was the cave known as “Fox’s hole.” As David led, Mark followed as they both wandered down to where the sinkhole was and looked inside.
According to Mark Bridges:
I saw some items that brought some suspicions to me. I wasn’t sure what they were. David and I had a conversation about it at that time. It could have been a blanket, it could have been a piece of paper. I haven’t seen the list of items that were brought out of that hole. I’ve been through so much this past week that until I see the recorded transcript – all of our conversations were recorded – but until I see the transcript, I’m not certain. I definitely wanted to search the cave and I think, subconsciously, that David did, too. He took me to the cave for some reason.
Rowan Ford’s body was found the next day at about eight in the morning by two sheriff’s deputies. It had been placed on a shelf of rock located about 20 feet underground.

Burn in hell, sickos
they both confess to killing her. Each said they did it, wonder if they are trying to plant reasonable doubt for the future trial, or if they were so messed up from booze and ?drugs? to know themselves who killed her. I hope they both burn in hell.
I wrote part of this text about another case, but much of it applies here.
It is odd the things you can see in photographs.
My eldest son-
In all his school pics he looks guarded. In pics with/by his dad, he looks contrived or like he’s making an effort. In the pics I’ve taken, he looks open and happy. Glowing, almost.
My younger son looks glowy in almost every pic, no matter who took it.
My guess about the difference is that my ex, even after we married, did not live with me and our oldest son, and commuted instead, and he was not a big part of our lives until he moved here right before the birth of our second son. Their father has since left us, and we are now in a fairly nasty divorce/custody suit. It has become obvious to me that our eldest bonded more with me, whereas his brother, who was around both of us, has bonded to both of us. I’m guessing that’s why their pics are so different.
The pic in this ’story’ (the Lamar Platt case)has the same kind of obvious visual cues. Looking at the pic it is very easy to see that what was described by the ed as ‘wanting to eat your face’ is accurate. It’s too bad that pics aren’t more ‘readable’, in order to give the back story. Nevertheless, it is easy to see that only one of the people in the pic is unhappy/disturbed.
I have also felt that about the pics in the Spears case (the one where the stepdad and his ‘friend’ raped and killed a little girl). The pics of the perps are fairly blank and unreadable, but in every one of the pics of the little girl, there is an unhappy feeling emanating from them. She is pretty, yes. But happy? No.
From those pics, she looks miserable, but trying.
I dont want to piss anyone off, but in some of the earlier pics it appears she has very bad teeth (not surprisingly), and in what I assume is her last pic, she is not smiling with an open mouth as before. She looks more withdrawn or self-conscious.
My eldest boy has chosen to have long hair like me (we are Pottowattomie Indian/Ukrainian, and their dad is Welsh/English), and he has gotten headlice once, as I did once as a child. His short-haired brother never has. I can tell you from memory, that it is not pleasant. You have to use pesticide shampoo, and pretty much hot-water burn all your clothes/sheets. To this day, I wont allow my boys to share clothing with other children, and I am very aware of any situation (such as movie theaters) that put either me or my long-haired boy in threat of getting lice again.
I’m glad me and my boy have only had to experience that once. I cannot imagine having a child that’s had lice 5 times in 5 months, as these news reports say. If your skin is crawling, and your scalp is itching just reading this, imagine actually having it. It’s not pleasant, and IMO it is abusive to allow your children to suffer that.
From what I have gathered (some news reports have supposedly gone into great detail about the condition of the girls body, to the dismay of others), that while they have not publicly gone into detail about many things, they have implied that not only did this girl have head lice, she also had pubic lice.
I, luckily have never experienced that. But I would guess that if you had a shitty home life, where your mom’s new husband and friends were raping you, hygeine would not be your first thought. I do wonder (even though so much positive stuff has been said about the girl after the fact) whether she suffered insults at school because of the lice. Like I said, both me (as a long-haired girl) and my eldest son (as a long-haired boy) had to deal with how/where we got it from. and in both cases it was from families we were friends with that had too many people living in too few rooms… and they, like this girl, had a constant problem with head lice. Once it was determined where I got it from, I was never allowed to play or sleep over with that girl again. I was just a kid, so I couldn’t have imagined what kind of trauma that girl got for giving all of us head lice. But, I know she was teased/bullied because of it.
Pubic lice? I don’t even want to go there.
Is it any wonder that the little girl looks so sad in all her pics? In every one of them her hair looks moth-bitten. I assume is from the lice?, which really breaks my heart.
Over and over, on this site and others, there are pics of beautiful children… but I cannot believe I am the only one who can see in their pictures that they are not happy, and are suffering. And inevitably, the mugshots of their abusers show that they have no comprehension of what they’ve done to their children.

Does it matter who actually killed her…not to me…they both raped her and both knew that one or the other killed her…they hid her body and then they both confess. So therefore they both need to rot in hell for what they have done.

To what Glorybug said: I absolutely agree with you about her not looking happy. Head lice is awful. I always seemed to get it as a kid. I have extremely thick hair and once they got into my head it was very difficult to remove them. I still have nightmares about the shampoo and the comb that is involved but again I have been lucky enough to have never had pubic lice. To just imagine a little girl just itcing all over her body and none of her parents caring enough to do something about it. Her mother belongs in the category with theses two because she definitely knew something was going on. There were signs that she either didn’t pick up on and just ignored.
Rape them both with a rusty sharp metal pole and pour battery acid in the hole’s.
I read in my local paper in a short exerpt that he’s fighting the death penalty now.
Go figure…he doesn’t think deserves to die for what he did.

I just read the original story, and I have one thing to say.
JIMNEY CRICKETS! That Spears dude weighs 380 lbs. How in the hell did he rape that little girl without smooshing her? I know that’s a moot point, but damn, he should be charged with torture on top of everything else. That poor baby getting the breath pressed out of her just so some fat heffalump could get his rocks off.
Probably his wife cut him off cuz he squashed her, and instead of paying a whore to help him he did the unthinkable.
I think he should go to hell, and until he gets his one way ticket there, condemn him to hell on earth and take away his food & make him suffer. *oink oink*
You should have seen the interview with David Spears before they found little Rowan. He’s talking to the camera and saying “That’s my little girl” ~try to squeeze out a tear~ “I love her.” ~trying to squeeze out subsequent tears~. From the second I saw that footage I knew that this fat fuck had something to do with her death. I really hate when I’m right about shit like that. I’m hoping that when the trial comes next summer that I’ll be able to attend. If I can, I’ll try to keep everyone updated.
Here’s hoping that they end up having an unpleasant time in Potosi before they visit Bonne Terre for the last time.
The Cassville Advertiser should be covering these upcoming court dates as much as they can and keep us all informed. I want them to fry. They both need to die slowly painfully. Someone I know said it best..”just let them walk down main street Cassville, let us the ppl. take care of it”.
