Sleepwalking can be a scary thing, both for the people who suffer from the condition and for the people who encounter those who sleepwalk.
For other people, such as 52-year-old Dexter Ford, sleepwalkers present an opportunity.
Dexter Ford, a homeless piece of trash with a record that stretches over 15 years and includes such charges as breaking and entering, aggravated arson, theft, possession of illegal drug paraphernalia, and trespassing has just collected another charge - rape.
Dexter, who has admitted that he has HIV as well as any number of other social diseases, must have sent a quick prayer of thanks to the Homeless Gods and promised them a burned offering at his shopping-cart altar when he came across a 23-year-old University of Cincinnati student out walking at three in the morning without much in the way of clothes on.
At the side of the road, just off a freeway off-ramp, Dexter Ford took advantage of this woman’s state, raping her within eye shot of passing motorists.
Several people who were driving by noticed Dexter’s activity, which was out of the ordinary even for Ohio, and called for the police on their cellphones.
One good Samaritan went so far as to pull his car over onto the side of the road before running over to the pair on the ground and pulling Dexter off the still-sleeping girl.
Realizing the gig was up, Dexter Ford ran off into the bushes.
Police arrived, took statements from several witnesses and called paramedics for the still-sleeping girl, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment that included a battery of exams for sexually transmitted diseases.
Dexter Ford is HIV-positive, after all.
After three hours of searching around the now-closed-off exit ramp, Dexter was found and arrested.
Dexter Ford has been charged with one count of rape and was given a $500,000 bond which, for him, might as well be a $500,000,000 bond.
Pat Clifford, director of a homeless shelter where Ford sometimes stayed, had this to say to the press about the plight of the “housing challenged”:
One of the frustrations that we have is, people are often released from mental health facilities with no plan, no place to stay and that’s a dangerous situation. I think this is a wake-up call to our community that we need to do something more aggressive, more assertive regarding mental health care to those individuals on the streets.
Fair enough.
Ford’s attorney, a Mr. Jeff Adams, has claimed to the press that the victim’s accusation of rape could be extremely hard for the state to prove. Because she was sleepwalking at the time she was in a highly suggestible state - and could possibly have said, “Yes” when asked if she wanted to have sex.
It goes to consent. How is he to know she is sleepwalking, if it’s a dream ‘yes’ or a real ‘yes?’
The courts will decide his legal guilt.
You tell us if he deserves Hell or not.

How the f*ck did she not wake up? I mean I know what sleep walking is and all that, but if you sleep hard enough that you don’t wake up even while being raped somethings not right!
Anyways yeah, that was pretty desperate. I mean I guess a homeless guy doesn’t get much action but uh… yeah. Not cool.

even if she said “yes” in her sleep, the guy was sure to know this girl wasn’t in a proper state of mind and took advantage of the situation.
on top of that he’s HIV positive, having sex without protection when you’re HIV possitive is a crime in itself if you ask me.
