First of all, we have the right to assemble, but not to threaten, yell, throw things, etc. This will be an entirely peaceful (and quiet) demonstration. There is a common ground area across from the Drew home that I will try to get approved by the subdivision’s council for Saturday from 12 to 5pm.
I ask you all to please bring candles, flyers, etc. BUT, please do not stoop to the level of the Drew family. We are not there to bully the Drew family. We are there to bring attention to this situation to ensure that justice will be served.
Please, leave your pitchforks at home. We don’t want to see any banners calling them names, threatening the family, etc.

Drew approached the sheriff’s department last November, after “the neighborhood…found out her involvement in Megan’s suicide and her neighbors have become hostile toward her and her family.” Drew, the report noted, wanted the neighborhood tension to be documented in case any of her property was subsequently damaged. Since last December, Drew, 48, has filed three police complaints alleging harassment and property damage in retaliation for her MySpace hoax. She has reported a brick being thrown through her kitchen window and claimed that Megan’s father Ronald yelled at her, “Who are you gonna kill today?” In April, Drew told police that a paintball had been shot at her sunroom’s window, causing about $50 in damage. While Drew had previously placed a surveillance camera in the sunroom, the tape did not help identify a suspect. And, as a sheriff’s report notes, “Drews did not wish to release the tape, as she anticipated a civil law suit against her by Meier and may need the tape for legal purposes.”

The city of Dardenne Prairie passed a law on the 21st of November, 2007 which makes online harassment a crime.
The six-member Board of Aldermen made Internet harassment a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $500 fine and 90 days in jail.
Mayor Pam Fogarty said the city had proposed the measure after learning about Megan Meier’s death.
Interesting times for the Drew family.
Perhaps they should move.

How to begin…
My background. I have been online since AOL 1.5, so I believe I’ve seen just about every good and bad side of the net, including chats and social websites etc etc…
Myspace, facebook, etc etc…they are all bs. Megan’s death isnt the first instance of this, nor unfortunately, shall it be the last.
Everything from their TOS, their age verification system etc etc is bunk. And until this changes, you will only see more of instances like megan coming forth.(there have been plenty, but none till megan have receieved media attention).
Megan’s parents? I’ve seen or read every interview they have done, and many questions remain. Why did they allow an under-aged girl(according to myspace TOS) create an account to begin with if they were monitoring what she did online?
Why, if they monitored her online activity actively, didn’t they respond to a strange boy taking an interest in their daughter? I’ve heard and read some wishy washy bs on their part about this, but taking into account that they might be “new” parents to the web, i will concede this point in their favor, but it still makes me wonder. I suppose exprience in this new “media” would make you look before you leap.
Passwords? They have mentioned again and again that they had the “password” and that megan couldn’t “login” without them there. WTF does that mean? The dial-up PW? Parental Controls PW? Myspace PW?(and if this were to be proven true, just wtf does that say about them?) What exactly? Going on CNN, FOX etc etc saying you did everything you could to control megan’s access to the net, without explaining, well it leaves alot open, and hence, makes you wonder just how well they did monitor her access.
I only ask these questions, because it’s my personal exprience that the internet in general is harmless, but social networking sites, internet chat, chat clients like AOL, Yahoo, etc etc are prime hunting grounds for sick fucks like lori drew, or even worse. And until better controls are put in place, you will only see more and more stories like megan’s, if not worse…and there are already those stories out there.
Does any of what I’ve typed absolve lori drew?…hell no. I feel absolutely no sympathy for her, her daughter, her employee…whoever was involved with this tragedy. I personally think that mob justice should prevail in this case(since as always, the law is an inbred, 3 eyed redneck brother-cousin with no clue), and those responsible be run up the yardarm, so to speak.(nearest tree would suffice)

Now, step back and remind yourself that if you can’t say anything nice about a couple who has lost their daughter under the most tragic of circumstances, don’t say anything at all.
Oh sure, as you say your prayers at night, you can tell YOURSELF it will never happen to those you love because you are too damn smart, or you are the right religion or socioeconomic level, or you have been on the internet since AOL 1.5, if that allows you to sleep.

On Wednesday, October 21st, city officials wasted no time enacting an ordinance designed to address the public outcry for justice in the Megan Meier tragedy. The six member Board of Aldermen made Internet harassment a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $500 fine and 90 days in jail.
Does this new law provide any justice for Megan? Does this law provide equitable relief for a future victim?
The Vice rejects the premise of this new law and believes it completely misses the mark. Classifying this case as a harassment issue completely fails to address the most serious aspects of the methods Lori Drew employed to lead this youth to her demise. The Vice disagrees that harassment was even a factor in this case until just a couple of days before Megan’s death.
Considering this case a harassment issue is incorrect because during the 5 weeks Lori Drew baited and groomed her victim, the attention was NOT unwanted attention. Megan participated in the conversations willingly because she was misled, lured, manipulated and exploited without her knowledge.
This law willfully sets a precedent that future child exploiters and predators might use to reclassify their cases as harassment cases. In effect, the law enacted to give Megan justice, may make her even more vulnerable. So long as the child victim doesn’t tell the predator to stop, even a harassment charge may not stick with the right circumstances and a good defender.
Every aspect of this case follows the same procedural requirement used to convict a Child Predator. A child was manipulated by an adult. A child was engaged in sexually explicit conversation (as acknowledged by Lori Drew herself). An adult imposed her will on a child by misleading her, using a profile designed to sexually or intimately attract the 13 year old Megan.
Lori then utilized the power she had gained over this child to cause significant distress and endangerment to that child. She even stipulated to many of these activities in the police report she filed shortly after Megan’s death.
City officials who continue to ignore this viable, documented admission and continue to address this issue as harassment are intentionally burying their heads in the sand, when the solution is staring them right in the face. Why?
There are several other child exploitation laws on the books. To date, none of them have even been considered by City, State and Federal officials in this case. The Vice is outraged that a motion was never even filed, so that the case could at least be argued before a judge or jury.

The main and most important difference in what Lori Drew did to Megan and what the public is now doing to the Lori Drew is that Megan was a child and Lori Drew is a “responsible adult”. I understand the urge to protect you children from anything painful, but Lori Drew took that natural maternal instinct and used it to justify her shocking behavior. Once again, Mrs. Drew had the perfect opportunity to teach her child and Megan an important lesson in taking the high road, but she chose instead to engage in spiteful, childish, frankly disturbing behavior. I don’t know about you, but it sounds to me like someone may be damaging their daughter more than nameless, faceless people online. Mrs. Drew once again has the chance to take the high road, admit that her actions were beyond the pale, and apologize for the greif that her spite and bile had caused the Meiers and their entire community. And once again, Mrs. Drew is refusing to do the right thing. I don’t know, maybe my moral compass is askew, but it seems to me that if she truly feels that she did no wrong that she would have taken ownership of the situation rather than asking kids to keep it quiet and trying to cover her tracks.

I’m not chosing a side for the simple fact that I know how the media works. They have the story, yes. But they like to twist words and make it even more interesting than what it already is just to get the viewers attention… they have to make money somehow. Maybe all of the things you read in the paper and see in the news IS true, but until I know for sure there will be no judging from me.
I consider myself to be a good person at heart. But I would be lying if I said I’ve never done something incredibly stupid just to get back and (emotionally) hurt somebody. A just society punishes people for hurting others. If the legal system isn’t going to dole out punishment and the public at large is not supposed to dole out punishment then these evil cunts will remain unpunished and hence we can only conclude that we live in an unjust society.
Maybe if this were YOUR daughter, you’d feel differently. Wayne you are so right. Lori is a dangerous vicious child predator with no remorse whatsoever. Even after this child’s death she is still attacking her. What she did is a crime in my opinion. If I were Megan’s parents it would be all I could do to control myself. They are better people obviously, not criminals like Lori, but it must so very difficult for them. My son died when he was 14 from playing the choking game (gaspinfo.com) and he was just a child, growing up fast but a child. At that age, kids are very vulnerable and emotional and often do things they shouldn’t. It’s up to parents to do the best they can to guide them in the right direction. As a mother myself, I find it hard to believe that another mother would harass a 13 year old girl. In one of her statements, she wanted to protect her child from the bullying, yet she bullied a 13 year old girl who she knew had problems. This is EXACTLY why our society is trying to teach our children not to bully or judge because you don’t know how far a child will go, even older kids or the adults. And a mother of all people, should have known not to bully. I find it odd, that this lady would give another girl her fake josh account information. If she wanted to monitor, why give out such information?
Lori IMO is guilty of bullying, she was the ring leader. I don’t think she intended for Megan to kill herself, but as a mother she should have never started this and she would have let the kids figure this out on their own or give appropriate advice or just completely ignore the girl and inform her parents that she is no longer welcome to her house.. Instead, she took things too far by becoming one of the kids.
I frankly, do not blame the Meiers reaction by putting the smashed table on the Drews lawn. They were angry and frustrated and lost a child. However, nobody deserves to be harassed or jeaporize another persons safety. You dont have to like the drews or respect them, but they dont deserve the whole world ganging up on them or posting their address or phone number on web sites. two wrongs never make a right. If people want to remember the little girl there are ways to go about that. There is way to handle things, but harassing the Drews is not one of them. We need people to stand up and talk about the effects of bullying in person or cyberspace. because regardless if you had no intent on physically harming someone, you never know how far you have pushed someone and what their limits are to make them react the way they do. In this case it was suicide.. the Columbine, students took their frustations out on their peers. I think you are on the right track, but maybe you have it backwards. Mrs. Drew comes of to me as someone who was bullied and picked on and has never gotten over it. When she saw her child getting the same treatment, she decided to retaliate in the manner in which Mrs. Drew wished she could have when she was young.
I am, of course, not trying to excuse her behavior and obvious bad judgement, but her own experiences could have been the catalyst.

It isn’t so much what the troll Drew woman did (though that’s pretty whack), it’s the fact that she has shown no remorse whatsoever that is demented.

I’m not even fond of many children besides my own, and I would never have done the bizarre things she has done.
My oldest boy (then, 6) used to have a nasty friend/classmate who constantly told him that he was better at everything… just a mean, nasty little kid. He said many things that hurt my boy, and wasn’t true. I understand that he said them because my boy is very attractive, very well liked, and very smart…. and that he was envious.
But- the things he said were hurtful, and my boy was upset about how to please him.
I wrote to the boy online and told him that I read everything my kids write and who writes to them. The harrassment there stopped. I then called their parents and told them what my rules were (without being mean). We’ve had no problems since. Anytime my kids feel they are being treated rudely online or otherwise, they know I will jump in. I will call them on their own shit, and I will ‘fix’ anything else.
I don’t understand this new surge in teen massacre.
I also don’t get the current trend for anal sex, which I am sure participants of this tragedy were aware of.
On this site, other than being sent to hell, the second best punishment for abusers/molestors/childkillers, is to be anally fucked in as many horrible ways as possible.
The anal rape thing applies to anyone going to jail who has abused/raped/killed children.
So why is it that almost every single porn movie produced today HAS to have at least one anal scene? Or DP scene?
If anal rape is the first choice of most jail-recommending people, as a form of an insult and degradation… then why is it used as a punishment in one case, yet in other cases, it’s what people now normally should be doing sexually if they base their experiences on porn?

I wqas harassed and tormented as a 13-year-old because I had Asperger’s Syndrome. This was one of the most tragic things I have ever heard of–rest in peace, Megan. As for Lori Drew, she reminds me of the

I disagree with some who say “we all make mistakes” - this is not at the level of the “mistakes” that most of us make in life.
That said, mob justice–even online mob justice–is not something we should want in our society. The justice system is far from perfect, some innocents spend 20 years in prison, many guilty people never seem to pay, BUT mob justice would have an even much worse track record. Some other countries use mob justice and it’s nothing to wish for.
And the justice system is not yet through with her anyway: for example, has she been sued in civil court yet?? Even the girl she hired might perhaps have a case against her, especially if the perp knew that girl too was quite brittle to begin with.

Being an adult of semi-advanced years and having witnessed numerous times when those words were spoken and upon hearing, the recipient eagerly agrees. More often than not it is more akin to an invocation, pleading or wish. An attempt, though passive,to align the collective and to alleviate the frustration and fear that evil can thrive unchecked among us. The underlying message that evil doers will be dealt with by a cosmic force acting in the capacity of spiritual accountant who insists on keeping balanced books is the cornerstone of many religions.

I’m 18, I, like Megan was bullied both at school and online when I was at Megan’s age, so this case pushes all my buttons. A 40-something woman should know better! I can understand that a 13 years old girl could do this, but her mum getting involved is just plain old stupid. If Lori Drew had an ounce respect for the Maiers or herself she would have dragged her daughter to the Maiers house and made her apologize instead of joining in!
Teen girls can (and usually are a bit) cruel, but they generally are because they don’t know better.
My mum is a lawyer and according to her if this had taken place in Norway (where I live), Lori Drew and Ashley would both have had to serve time in jail, my guess would be between 3-6 years for Lori where about half would be preventative time, and 1-2 years preventative for Ashley. But even more if it was before a jury. The laws in Norway does not interfere with our freedom of speech, it is merely an extension of our anti-harassment laws, anti-racism ect. The consequences for me walking up to a person and calling them a, b and c would be exactly the same as posting it on line.
