I have lived abroad in several countries where Islam is a prevalent religion and on more than one occasion muslim families hosted me to help support my work. These people were gracious, devout individuals who were tolerant of my own beliefs as a practicing Catholic. One family in particular went way above what was called for in making me comfortable and keeping me safe at serious inconvenience to themselves. None of the Christian families that I met with due to my work even came close to showing me the same level of hospitality.

I have an english copy of the Quran and have tried to learn about the religion and the culture of Islamic countries. I don't think that Islam is a radical religion and those people who fall into category of terrorists aren't true muslims at all. For the record I do not think that Terry Jones of Gainesville, FL or the Reverend Phelps (and Westboro Baptists) of Topeka, FL are true Christians. You find people in every religion who will use it to justify their hate and violent actions. That is not a flaw in the religion, it is a flaw of people in general.

Before you paint all muslims with the same brush I think you should take the time to actually learn about what the religion teaches. Maybe even meet some actual muslims and talk to them rather than listen to only what the media tells you about the religion.

The Sudan, although it is a muslim country, is a completely different culture and country from Indonesia, India, Lebanon and the rest of the middle east. I don't think you are taking into account the role that regional politics, economics and foreign relations with the West might be the motivating factor in this situation rather than religion, which is being used as a convenient excuse.

Tiffany,

If there was any religion I would encourage people to educate themselves on it would be Islam.

Read the Koran...front to back, and then read it again. There are several websites as well.

The more you know, y'know ?

It's difficult to have respect for an old man who consummated his marriage to his NINE YEAR OLD BRIDE- that's not prophecy, it's paedophilia. And Sudan is one of the most backward countries on this God- forsaken continent anyway, if it were any good, South Africa wouldn't be suffering the influx of your bloody illegal immigrants.
