Numerous studies support this claim, and indeed, many anti-pedophile organizations state this as well.
Lindsay Ashford belongs to a rather large group of pedophiles who feel that pedophilia is not a sexual disorder, but is instead a sexual orientation that some people are born with and really, shouldn’t deny.

Contrary to much speculation, the closing of this site has nothing to do with any police investigation. The site has not been closed down by outside forces; I have chosen to close it down myself.
Over recent years, it has become evident to me that it is impossible to remain employed whilst operating this site and being an activist. Sooner or later, every employer discovers this site and who I am and the results of this discovery are quite predictable. Potential employers who discover who I am are also disinclined to offer me employment, even when I am otherwise qualified for the positions I apply for. Furthermore, the site has grown to such a size that properly maintaining it has become nearly a full-time endeavour, making it increasingly difficult to maintain it, hold down a job and have some semblance of a social life.
As I do not have independent financial means, I must regretfully choose between activism and survival. I have chosen survival and have therefore discontinued this site and will no longer be involved in activism. Instead, I will direct my efforts towards other creative projects I have long wanted to pursue. If my circumstances change at some point in the future, the status of this site may change as well.
Lindsay Ashford really came onto the public’s radar in March of 2007, when it was discovered that he had posted a blog entry on his website that claimed the winning candidate of the 2008 United States presidential election would be the candidate with the most charming daughter, or daughters.
Ashford’s post contained pictures of various candidates’ children, including Barack Obama’s two prepubescent daughters – Malia and Natasha, born in 1999 and 2001, respectively.
Barack Obama, despite numerous mental deficiencies relating to his liberal mindset, probably decided that associating himself with a pro-pedophilia activist would be detrimental to his campaign and had his lawyers contact Lindsay Ashford to demand the removal of the offending images, which eventually happen.
Despite that little tiff, Lindsay Ashford continues to support Obama for president, claiming that he likes Obama’s policies on the war in Iraq, his environmental policies and a variety of other political issues.
Somehow, I think that makes Obama a little mad.

this may sound weird, but i do feel sorry for the pedophiles that stay away from children. as with any mental illness/deficiency, you can hardly blame them for being just that. there’s not a lot of study being done to what causes this and to “cure” it seems to be just as impossible as curing someone from being gay.
i will never support a sexual act with a child obviously, but i’m also not supporting a statement that says all pedophiles are child molesters (thank god they’re not, the world would be even worse if that was true).
So the big question for me here is the following, has this guy ever had any form of sexual contact with a child? if the answer to that is yes, i say he needs to be hung from the tallest tree possible. if that’s not the case, his only fault is pure stupidity, how can a person even think that one day it’ll be ok to perform a sexual act with a child? I’m not really averse to the chemical castration to be honest, preventing being better then curing and all. Electric shock seems to be a bit over the top though, we’re still talking about human beings, be it sick human beings. Again, if they touch a child inapropriatly or anything else in that sense, death would be too light a punishment, but as long as that’s not the case i consider them people that need help, they didn’t ask to be like that afterall.
We try and provide help for people with all sorts of disorders, this ranks right up there if you ask me.

I agree, Dual. While it is sad that these folks are clearly disturbed, we as a society can’t afford to tolerate it. The mere fact that an adult can claim to have an romantic bond with a child unable even to speak coherently demonstrates that he who makes this claim is out to lunch. Unfortunately as we’ve seen time and time again if one acts on their impulses once, they will most likely continue to do so until they are caught or die. I’m not sure whether this guys is abhorent or simply pathetic for feeling persecuted by society to the point of considering himself an activist. For the record, I have no issue with any sexual orientation involving two consenting adults. I do know that it is truly offensive for this person to claim that his unquestionably inappropriate desires are not deviancy, rather a legitimate sexual orientation. Still, although I find his desires repugnant, as long as he doesn’t act on his impulses and keeps his hands and everything else to himself, we have no choice but to leave him to his own devices. However, if I personally knew this guy, I would keep an eye on him.

One thing “Lindsay” has right is that us pedophiles are not child molesters, or predators.. although there are those who are it does not apply to everyone. Just like when a black man rapes a woman, it is not all black men who are rapists. One thing “Lindsay” has wrong is that Pedophilia, in the sense of love, is a sexual preference. In some cases this is true, adults become sexually attracted to children. In some cases though, a pedophile is actually in true love with a child and may not even be sexually interested, they understand the child, communicate mutually and are loyal to one another. This is not a sexual preference, it is called being in love. Even Elvis Presley was a pedophile, not in the sexual nature exactly but in the psychological / love nature. I believe society should stay out of pedophile’s business if they choose to have a relationship with a child, so long as the child agrees mutually and is at least pubescent. 8 month year old children cannot determine such things yet, but I believe pubescent people can just as well as anyone in their 30s. Mother Mary was 14 when God got her pregnant, does that make God a bad God? In some cultures 14 is age of consent.. it is point of view/opinion. 2. You state that Pedophilia is a type of love. Okay, this means that you are falling in love with one who is of an innocent nature and not yet corrupted by adulthood, just to view one part of it. As A Handicapped man when I was in my 20s I Was approached Quite a few times for Intimacy By girls 10 to 14. I never touched them. There was no mistake what they wanted. Yes, because people in their early teens have such great judgement skills. Some cultures think women who were raped asked for it and are in responsible for the crime committed against them. Some countries look the other way while five year old girls are sold into sexual slavery. What other countries allow, especially concerning women’s rights, is not a convincing argument. Loving someone is not always sexual. But for pedophiles the intention of a sexual relationship is ever present. I did things in my early teens that I wouldn’t dream of doing in my thirties. Maybe that is the problem with those who think young girls and boys are so dreamy–they haven’t grown emotionally. What you suggest, you’ve tried to shroud in jargon about pubescents being able to make ‘rational’ decisions, to cover the fact that you obviously are not personally attracted to pre-pubescents. Why in the world would it be wrong to have sexual relationships with pre-pubescents, but not pubescents?
My boys are 7 and 9, and I am pretty sure when I ask them if they want chocolate or vanilla ice cream, or want to skateboard vs go to the park, that they are telling me their true desires. The problem is that often what they desire is not good for them. They’d love to eat candy bars for breakfast- but I don’t let them. It is disingenious to imply that your angle is all about what children (which is what pubescent people are) want, instead of what you want from them.
If pubescent children should be ‘allowed’ to do whatever they want, as you suggest, then they should be allowed to vote, drive, smoke and drink. Maybe there’s other countries that think it’s great to allow their children to do that, but luckily in the US, we don’t. We don’t let them serve in the military, either.
The biggest two problems with arguments that pedos make for why they should be given free access to other people’s children (or their own) are these-
First, it is very transparent that for all the talk about how the child should be free to choose to do whatever to whoever… there is still a power imbalance, no matter how you want to try to downplay it. From my childhood through my age now, I never met one child who ever felt the need to fight for their right to have sex with adults. However, I have seen many, many adults grooming children for this behaviour. Your thinking is skewed if you do not think grooming is any different from spur-of-the-moment assaulting. Pedos claim to be misunderstood, but really they are not. We see exactly what they are about. They want access to children because that is what they are attracted to, and not because it is in the child’s best interest.
Secondly, because almost all the pedo arguments want to talk about love. Yet they don’t seem to have learned the basics of real love, meaning that you try NOT to do things that will hurt the people that you love. And it’s a little sneaky that after all that talk about ‘love’, the sexual basis behind it is blatant.
When people have weak arguments, they try to muddy up the waters to confuse people. Pedophilia is not about real, mature, conscentual love… it’s about trying to rationalize sexual urges by placing the ‘onus’ of being allowed to ‘choose’ on children. I hate to break it to you or any other pedo, but normal, healthily-loved children would have no interest in having a sexual relationship with you. They’d be happy having a normal childhood, playing doctor with children their own ages, and generally growing up without someone older than them inculcating a particular sexual mindset for their own selfish needs.
I am kind of glad that a lot of pedos are ‘coming out’. It makes it easier for me to identify them, and to identify the situations they will try to manipulate into preying on my children.
I am sure that there are plenty of pedophiles who do not act out. I’m sure they are the ones that feel that it is wrong, and would feel it was wrong even if the laws were different- because with or without laws, it is just wrong, same as how even if we had no laws against murder, the majority of people would still think it was wrong. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to look at the types of pornography, and the availability of it, without seeing how it has changed not just sexual mores, but sexual expectations and practices among adult heterosexuals, and to then extrapolate that the availability of child porn is contributing to the victimisation of children, especially among the people who want more access to abuse them.

GloryBug, you stated your opinions well. But that is all they are, your opinions. I need therapy just as much as you do. You think of your children as pets? they aren’t pets they are human beings. You pushed the typical brainwashed society view of what you consider right and wrong but you used no form of reason at all. Then you question why I don’t think pre-pubescent should be allowed to make the choices? It sounds more like you’re for the pre-pubescent ways than against it. True love is easy to identify, you were right in how you describe it, that it would be a concern of what’s in the partner’s best interest. But define exactly how a loving relationship with a pubescent child is going to harm them if they consent to it.. you can’t, because there is no harm in a loving relationship. love and harm cannot co-exist in that way. If you do bring sex into the matter though, I can understand where this would be harmful and that’s why I do not argue for sexual relations with children, they may not fully be ready to face the consequences, may not be ready to get pregnant and they still have a lot to accomplish in life before they make that decision. If you were 18 years old and you met someone 16 and you didn’t know their age and they didn’t know yours.. you started talking and after weeks and months you started understanding the person more and more and caring for them mutually more and more until you found yourself in love with them, then you discovered they’re 16 while you’re 18 how would this be wrong? You’ve not had sex, you don’t intend to have sex.. you’re 18 and just want to love this 16 year old and they want to love you but that’s considered being a pedophile? I Googled ‘pubescent’, and came up with a page full of links to porn featuring ‘Lolitas’ and what I would assume would be faked underaged boy and girl porn. So I Googled ‘pubescent’ and ‘dictionary’, and out of the 9 dictionaries it brought up, every single definition was either approaching or reaching physical puberty, one who has functioning sex glands but are not yet physically mature, or ‘to be covered in a fine, downy hair.
I would guess that then, puberty for girls would mean they were approaching developing breasts and growing pubic hair…. which we all know can start happening in girls as young as 8. The average has gone down, to about 10-12. So you think these pubescent children should be allowed to vote and gamble? And choose to be in love with adults, and choose to have sexual partners? (I’m curious how they could gamble when they aren’t legally even old enough to work?)

I like your attempt to bring up the ‘two year’s difference’ rule, that most pedos seem to think is their magic grail. But, it failed miserably, too. I remember when I first fell in love, at age 14. And then, how a few weeks later I realized I wasn’t. And then at age 16, when I fell in love again. And how, now, years later… since I am now an ‘actual adult’, that I knew nothing about what real love was. An adolescent imitation of it, but not even close. The difference between most of my classmates from grade school through college is that they continue to date people close to their age, although because we are now all adults, that age margin is bigger. They are not still having crushes on 6th graders or 13-18 year olds, like pedos do.
You, it seems, and many other pedos, seem not to understand that you have not grown up, and you are still confusing physical attraction of the giggly schoolgirl variety with true, mature, adult love. You also failed to address a pretty major point- which is that I have not heard about any 8-14 year old children clammoring to have the right to date and have sex with adults. I was sexually abused four times by my first degree cousin when I was 8 years old and it ended when i was 9 years old. I am now 24 years old and am having troubles with the law. I didn’t let anyone know about what happened until a year ago (when i was 23 years old) when i got trouble with the law. I was afraid, angry, ashamed, faulted myself because i didn’t have the guts to say “NO” or to fight for “Me, Myself, and I.” When people encounter pedophiles, they want them beaten to death without asking at the back of their minds, where they a victim, too? When people try to put blame on my parents, please don’t — I loved my parents so much that I didn’t want to inform them (for 17 years) of what happened because that would separate my mom’s side and my father’s side and i don’t want to be that “reason” of separation. I’m getting old and am getting tired of this kind of lifestyle. I want to change but every time my past dictates me, my sexual urges takes full control of my mind. I’m drowning obviously and needs help.
This is called learning self control. It’s a pretty simple concept to master. You see a child walking down the street, you look the other way, do not approach them and do not attempt to build a relationship with them.
If your finding your environment to be an issue, then move to an environment that does not have children around, get a job that does not put you in contact with children.
