New Investigation Relating To Lori Drew – Updated

Jack Banas, the St. Charles County prosecutor, has instructed the department’s internet crimes investigators to look into who is behind the meganhaditcoming blogspot site.

Of course, I’m not sure that the Internet crimes division of that particular law enforcement agency consists of anything more than a 16-year-old with a MySpace account on a Vic-20, but anything’s better than nothing, isn’t it?

Lori Drew’s dad has insisted that his daughter had nothing to do with the creation of that site.

Megan Meier’s mother says that the investigation is a good thing:

That would be great. I think hopefully it would make a stand – we can post that we are anybody in this world. We can say we are anybody. We can act as anybody, and it’s ok. It’s just absolutely ok. You can absolutely ruin somebody’s lives.

I think everyone is quite interested to see just who is behind meganhaditcoming.

Update – The meganhaditcoming site was (in all likelihood) not done by Lori Drew, as the author of the two articles on that site (both of which have since been deleted) has come forward and announced that he is someone who was sick of the way the Drews have been treated.

Thanks to elle for the tip.

Attorney Jim Briscoe showed up on the Today Show and told the world that Lori Drew did not create the MySpace account used to mentally torture Megan Meier. Mr. Briscoe also stated that Lori Drew did not ask anyone to create the MySpace account and that she did not communicate with Megan Meier through the MySpace account.

Jim Briscoe explained to the world that Lori Drew had to close her advertising business:

People have been attacking her advertisers and they want nothing to do with her. They don’t want the bad publicity. Her friends and neighbors are afraid to talk to her. Her daughter has had to drop out of school because of the harassment.

While admitting that his client knew about what was going on, Mr. Briscoe said that Lori Drew did not think mean messages were being sent by anyone, and therefore couldn’t stop it from happening.

She wished she did. If she could turn back the clock, that’s the part she would do differently.

Now, the Meiers have also commented a little bit.

They say Lori Drew has changed her story a number of times since Megan’s death. They think that Lori was home while messages were sent and that she knew exactly what was going on.

The Meiers plan on going ahead with a civil suit.

    According to the Associated Press:

…the bottom line for her was that the other mother knew about the fake profile, knew Megan was on medication, and let the hoax continue. She said the fake profile was deleted right after the death. Then, she said, the woman didn’t tell the Meiers about what happened.

“Our daughter died, committed suicide, and she still didn’t say a word,” Meier said. “I still feel what she did is absolutely criminal.”

I’m really REALLY sick of Lori Drew.

    2. Anon. says:

It’s just disappointing more than anything else. Disappointing for humanity in general, and that’s all there is to say.

    3. Lori Drew is a Souless Monster says:

Looks like Attorney Jim Briscoe hasn’t read the police reports. Lori admitted to all that stuff. Or was she lying to the police? That’s a crime, isn’t it?

    4. Geannie says:

I’m confused too about Lori Drew not creating the myspace account. She admitted to it in the police report and also in the most recent blog from Meganhaditcoming.

It is very obvious that this woman has serious mental health issues. She is looking for someone else to blame but herself.

I hope the Meiers take her to civil court and rake her through the coals. It will be interesting to hear what she says on the stand.

I feel very sorry for her daughter and hope that she will have the strength to be better than her mother.

    5. Lori Drew is a Souless Monster says:

I am pleased to hear that Lori has lost her business. I hear her husband lost his job with Coldwell Banker and was working at Burlington Coat Factory, but that after significant harassment there, he lost that job, too (I hope that’s true). I’d like to see the Drews lose their nice house and their happy, materially-rich lives and have to live in some dive apartment where they can’t even afford internet access.

I do feel badly for Sarah at this point (though I didn’t when it seemed she had set up that “meganhaditcoming” blog). It’s not nice to grow up with a crazy mother who leads a mob that mentally tortures your ex-best friend to death. Let’s just hope that Sarah understands that this stuff that’s happening to her is because of her mother’s actions.

And one day, I hope that Sarah Drew actually figures out what a psychopath her mother is and puts a long, long distance between them. I’d like to see Lori lose the daughter she claims she was “protecting” by preying on another child.

There are almost certainly a number of “guilty parties” here, but Lori is obviously the ringleader, and her continued lack of remorse is sickening, and her playing “victim” is revolting.

I hope Lori remembers that what goes around comes around.

    6. GloryBug says:

There are all kinds of ‘special days’.
      Births, weddings, graduations.

      And then there’s suicide.
This POS mother has no clue that she has permanently created a ‘special day’ for another family by cruelly and adolescently pushing someone else’s child to commit suicide.

I haven’t heard a word about how sorry she is about anything. Meaning that she isn’t.

But, as a person who has a ‘special day’ (my brother killed himself 5 years ago on Thanksgiving), that special day never goes by without thinking about how angry I am at the people that pushed him, and the people that made him feel worthless. Every Effen year.

I would tell Lori Drew that, but it’s clear she would not get it. And, to be honest, as much as she’s blah-blahed about wanting to know what was being said about her daughter (her reasoning for being a c**t was to protect her daughter?)… I doubt she would ever miss her daughter the way that other people that actually love their children and are devastated by what cruel, nasty people would be going through.

It would be all about what’s in it for Lori Drew. Wake up, Lori Drew’s daughter, and see what kind of slug you have for a mother.

    7. Chelsey says:

I really don’t care about Megan Meier or Lori Drew anymore. In the beginning I was all for Drew’s punishment, but the whole mob mentality of the thing puts me off wanting revenge.

    8. Sydney Gal says:

Lori Drew does NOT deserve this banshee-like harassement.

She did the wrong thing – sure.

But she did not make that person physically jump off that cliff.

Many people get depressed. BUT….. no one is responsible for that crime except the person who does it to themselves.

Megan’s parents also have to take some responsibility for the unhappiness inside that household.

      • cthulhu rabbit says:

Yes. yes she does deserve this kind of harassment. She deserves to be anally raped by satan and force-fed her own children.

        • Kat says:

I salute you, sir or ma’am, for not only your excellent comment, but your excellent name!

I however disagree with an above commentator who hopes she becomes so poor she can’t afford interwebs. I hope she can afford internet access… So she can see how hated and ridiculed she is.

    9. Lori Drew is a Souless Monster says:

Oh, I dunno. I think that Lori probably deserves it. Being harassed and socially outcast seems to fit the situation pretty well.

    10. Lori Drew is a sick, twisted person. No grown woman would be so immature as to do something like that. If she thought she was “protecting her daughter”, she is pretty stupid for she’s doing the opposite. Now her daughter is being harassed and tormented just like Lori Drew did to Megan. If my mother was such scum, I wouldn’t even be able to look at her.

    11. Moneyball says:

That’s really sad, Megan just wanted to be loved instead she was tormented. Thirteen think about how young that is. There’s a golden rule do onto others, as you would have done onto you. For Lori Drew to be so deceitful shows her lack of moral judgment. People like Lori Drew are put on this earth for the sole purpose of being cruel to others. Not to serve God, not to be kind to others, not find purpose in love, but to be cruel. Megan’s parents learned a lesson don’t be friends with soulless people.

    12. encryption says:

If I understand the story correctly, our society is doing to Lori drew, exactly what Lori Drew did to Megan. What if all of the people that are harrassing and bashing this woman, end up pushing her over the edge and she kills herself? Wouldn’t that make all of you mockers just as guilty as Lori?

See, its very simple. We are all guilty of doing wrong things in our lives. We’ve all gossiped, mocked others and much worse. Maybe what this world needs is a little bit of introspective reflection. News flash people, you’re not perfect, and you’re not better than anyone else. Quit being so narcissistic.

The only difference between Lori Drew and MOST (not all people), is that shes dumb and immature.

The victims in this whole thing are in this order.

Megan, Megan’s family, Sarah, Lori Drew’s husband, and Lori Drew.

The guilty partys are in this order.

Megan, Lori Drew, and all of the people who are harrasing the Drew family.

Leave that family alone. You are not judge or jury. You may be angry, but its none of your business. The problem is that crap like this is what caused the death of a young girl. That and a society that makes young girls feel that if you’re not popular that you are worthless.

Its the world we live in people. Forgive.

      • JoeyC says:

Forgiveness generally comes through penance, and Mrs.Scum-of-the-Earth Drew needs to be pariah for her crimes. Then drawn and quartered.

      • USS Yorktown says:

Don’t be so ignorant and self-righteous. Forgiveness is earned and she has failed to repent. I have NO SYMPATHY for Lori Drew and company and deserves what befalls them. Hell, this woman in the same league with Fred Phelps and his vile toadies at WBC and Osama bin Laden and September 11th Terrorists. And no, I am not equating her action with murdering 3,000 people on that fateful Tuesday or picketing funerals and abusing children and wife.

      • Kat says:

Ah, yes! I see the problem here!

The problem is that you think we give a shit.

If Lori Drew kills herself because of us being pissed off at what a cunt she is, I will buy a bottle of champagne and have a toast to PYSIH, while listening to “Whiskey for my Men – and Beer for my Horses”.

    13. The Rest of the World says:

This very public story, its complete and nasty over-reaction and this petty, pathetic and frankly vindictive website is so typical of what the rest of the world sees as being Atypical American pop culture… blame everyone else but yourself. This attitude that you nurse, perpetuate and export with your media is why the majority of the rest of the world hates you America. Grow up.

      • Kat says:

Blame everyone else but yourself. Hmmm.

Are you aware that the woman you are protecting is doing just that?

    14. angrier citizen says:

Ok, whoa: Megan is guilty of what? Being a teenage girl? Being sucked in by a cute boy? Wow, I have been both–I must be guilty too. That is the biggest crock of crap I have heard in awhile. I do think some of the postings about this have been a little over-the-top; but, Lori Drew still perpetrated a reprehensible act.
As for this site: it isn’t vindictive. Don’t some of these fools in these stories deserve to be berated? So often these stories get swept under the rug and the criminal goes to jail with the population none the wiser. We need to remember why justice is so important: it can be the only voice a victim has.
None of us are perfect. Do I speed on occasion, fail to wear my seat belt all the time, and sometimes don’t park in the lines in a parking lot? Yes I do. As for being better than a baby killer, rapist, murderer and child molester: I am. I think most who post here are as well. Lori Drew just happens to be particularly interesting because she acted so maliciously. Megan was blind-sided and humiliated. Some acts may not be illegal, but may be less than moral or intelligent.
As for forgiveness, it is something to be earned and not just given.
As for the world: when your nation is free from crime, hunger, greed, and all other societal ills–let us know. As for now, I am fine being a stupid American.

    15. Lori Drew is a Souless Monster says:

“society is doing to Lori drew, exactly what Lori Drew did to Megan”

Yeah, that’s true. It’s called What Goes Around Comes Around. It’s perfect.

    16. Kassie says:

I was glad to have the opportunity to read Megan Had It Coming by Lori Drew. As a mom of four grown children, I am no stranger to the meanness young girls like to show each other and my own daughters have been victims of this rejection before. However, the level of unkindness perpetrated by Lori Drew amounts to life devastation for a 13 year old and after reading Lori’s response, I still don’t think she “gets” the enormity of what she did. Can you even imagine that after orchestrating this whole thing on a child she KNEW had emotional problems, she actually had the horrific insensitivity to tell the dead girl’s parents to “get over it??” And then she relates how the aftermath of this scheme which resulted in a child’s death has helped her and her own daughter become closer? What a selfish and emotionally vacant woman! My pity and tears remain for the family of Megan.

    17. Michelle says:

“The Rest Of The World” seems a bit bitter about Americans. However, I sincerely doubt this one person with the big title actually speaks for the rest of the world. Unless, of course, this person’s world only revolves around him/herself, which I imagine to probably be true.

    18. GloryBug says:

Oh, so Lori Drew is now on the ‘victim’ list?

The only thing LD has been victimized is by her own lack of morals, inability to exhibit adult behaviour, and not being able to set a good example for her own daughter.

I find it odd that some people seem to feel that the girl somehow victimized LD by commiting suicide.

So, ignore the suicide. Pretend it did not happen. Pretend the girl and her parents reported what was happening to LE.

Then, how does LD look? Just as bad, because the girl’s suicide does not change what LD was doing that was so offensive. The sad thing is that if the girl was alive, no doubt LD WOULD have been prosecuted and convicted of one of the many bad things she did and recruited others to do.

If you aren’t capable of accepting that LD is responsible for the girl’s suicide, then at least be reasonable and admit that what she allegedly did was not only illegal, but repulsive and disgusting. And a horrible example for her children.

With LDs ‘poor me’ attitude, I can only imagine the circus she’d be causing if it had been HER daughter that some other loser parent had been bullying.

    20. The Rest of the World says:

To “Michelle”- not bitter about Americans at all, just jaded by years of being battered by a constant American attitude that the world only revolves around America. To be “bitter” would insinuate a failed desire to be an American which I can assure you, based on the judge mental and acrimonious attitude expressed by the majority of those idiots posting here, is certainly not the case. Did you ever stop to consider why some, so marginalised by your countries attitudes, greed and interfering, reach the inconceivable conclusion that the only way to express their frustration and anger at your nation is by flying passenger aircraft into your skyscrapers? Even then, did the majority of you bother consider the driving reason behind such an act of desperation or, like this website demonstrates, did you simply resort to blame and a mob mentality for vengeance? Unfortunately, history and the graves of thousands of innocents now show which choice America made.

      • Dissapointed says:

Please. Shut the f*ck up. You lost awhile ago. Your basically saying that America deserved 9-11 and Megan deserved to be bullied to the point of suicide by Lori Drew. It’s people like you that make this world dangerous for the kids and teenagers. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were Lori drew herself, except for the fact that you do actually have a small amount of logical thinking somewhere in your deserted skull. Here in America we have a word for people like you. Trash. Moldy, rotted disgusting trash.

    21. Disgusted by "The Rest of the World" says:

To The Rest of the World

Your attitude and words seem to indicate that you believe what happened on 9-11 was deserved. Who is the “you” to which you refer? Who was it that resorted to “blame and mob mentality”? Who did “they” blame and what acts of mob mentality are you referring to?

So somebody was angry and frustrated and that gave them the right to fly aircraft into skyscrapers and murder thousands of innocent people? Just how sick are you? You need help!

    22. lori drew says:

it was fun while it lasted

    23. stunned says:

I truly believe that this woman committed one of the most evil, cruel acts in the HISTORY of this earth. People in the community are well within their rights to ostracize her. Not beat her, burn their house down or anything like that, but they certainly should separate that family from the rest of decent society. They have lost the right to be socially accepted. Severely anomalous behaviour should not be ignored. It is morally wrong to ignore it. There is nothing wrong with shunning and speaking against disgusting behaviour. I hope she gets it together before the start of the next life.

    24. GloryBug says:

Um, ‘The rest of the world’?

Maybe you’d be less bitter and jaded towards America if you stereotyped just a little bit less.

Do you really think that there are not an awful lot of Americans who are aware that agendas are being promoted under manipulated circumstances to benefit only certain segments or families in America? Give us a little credit.

And maybe get off whatever your regular forums are and search or google the internet a little about ‘America’. In particular, the difference between what our politicians/government do vs what many ‘average’ citizens wish they were doing.

I don’t have a problem with people from other countries pointing out that America as a country/government is more than a little arrogant. And we have our share of individual overly-patriotic at any cost whackos, which every other country has also.

“did the majority of you bother consider the driving reason behind such an act of desperation or, like this website demonstrates, did you simply resort to blame and a mob mentality for vengeance?”

This statement shows me that you have no understanding of how American government or military works at all. I remember 9-11, and I don’t recall any person I know shaking their fist and screaming for vengeance. I do remember how our government reacted to it, and how, in my opinion, it justified actions that were already in the works but just couldn’t be carried out without the excuse of provocation by 9-11. And how, it appeared to me that that focus was very quickly re-directed towards a country that our government had an interest in getting involved with, no matter that they were not directly involved with 9-11.

What you also might be forgetting, or perhaps just don’t know…. everyone who lives in America does not think the same. There are many people who think like me, and many people who can’t stand my viewpoints and how I think.

Imagining that average people like myself have anything to do with what our government chooses to do is to not really understand how America works. We are not all as ‘free’ here as our ‘publicity machines’ may imply, and average people don’t really have much to do with the ‘American attitude’ you have a beef with.

I think the thing that people from other countries overlook about America is that no matter what image our Government presents, and even though the average citizen has little control over what our government does…. the fact is that we are blessed as Americans to be able to have an opinion about it. I can disagree with US policies. I can not only state my opinions to my friends and family, I can share them with people from all over the US, as well as sharing them over the internet with people from all over the world. I can criticize my government without fear of losing my job, being imprisoned, or having my family disappear. Not every country can boast about that.

Not only do I have the freedom to do that, but, even though it’s verrrry difficult, if I don’t like some policy or law, I have the option of trying to do whatever I can legally to change it. That is usually only successful locally, but once you get enough people doing that locally, you have a chance of affecting the bigger picture. Which I have not read so much about other countries.

I don’t consider myself patriotic meaning that I support and back every thing our country does… but in this context, I guess I am. I rather enjoy not being persecuted or killed for disgreeing with our governmental policies and military decisions.

I am very aware that the US is not any different than other countries as far as having governmental/business/military policies that mostly only benefit certain people or companies and don’t meet the long-term best interests of their people. Greed is not a singularly American government trait. The difference is that I am able to express my disagreement of those policies/actions, and I would not be able to in many other countries.

What this has to do with a troll who adolescently lives through her daughter, and is a selfish, cruel harpy, who has no regret for pushing a teen to the brink of suicide, I do not know.

What I do know is that I don’t mind people bashing America…. but I do mind when they don’t know enough about America to not know that the people who live here are individual people who do not all support the stereotypes and generalizations that are so easily made about us.

    25. The Rest Of The World says:

Well put GloryBug- you make a convincing arguement. Of course during a general discussion, generalistaions will and must be made, not withstanding that and accepting the obvious in that not all Americans think the same and that there is a movement away from Rebuplicanism within general US society, I still stand by my comments.

Of course I do not know America personally, my statements obviously reflect the opinion of an outsider formed over many years of being subjected to American pop culture and media. While I understand these outlets of Americanism are obviously slanted, at the same time I do not see mass demonstrations outside the whitehouse and capital buildings as was the case during the Vietnam era.

Has the general public in America forgotton that they control their government? Have they forgotton that alone they have no voice but together, they roar like 10 thousand lions?

    26. GloryBug says:

We are obviously not connecting on any mental level.

I thought you were upset at America because of what you perceive to be an arrogant attitude by our administration, and the policies they implement here and abroad.

If your opinion about America has been formed by being ‘subjected’ to American pop culture and media, then I don’t know how to help you.

I enjoy watching the BBC and other channels that are not American on TV, but it’s because I choose to. I’m not really ‘subjected’ to their news or culture unless someone in forcing me to watch it or read about it. And, I’m not sure I would make huge generalizations about their government or country as a whole, based on having been subjected to their news channels or entertainment channels.

You started to lose me there, and then you completely lost me when you started asking why we Americans aren’t mass demonstrating outside the whitehouse or Capitol buildings ‘ala Vietnam’.

I’m sure you can’t have meant that we should be protesting the subjegation of other countries via our Pop culture and media?

Perhaps what you meant to say was, why aren’t Americans protesting a war we are involved in that you don’t like? Not sure where you’re getting our ‘media’ from, because the media I’m subjected to here has widely reported the dissent and protests of Americans who are against this war/occupation as well as the ones like me who hate any war. And I am pretty sure it’s involved several mass demonstrations at other governmental buildings than the ones that have occured at the sites you mention.

I’m sure you have access to Google there. A simple google search of keywords ‘America, Iraq, demonstrations’ brings up almost 2 million hits. The third website on the list had this to say-

“Hundreds of thousands of people turned out for demonstrations in Washington DC, San Francisco and other cities across the US and Canada on Saturday to protest the Bush administration’s impending war against Iraq.

The protests, which drew substantially more people than those held last October, ***were the largest anti-war demonstrations in North America since the Vietnam War era***, with an estimated half-million protesters participating. More than 200,000 protested in the nation’s capital, traveling by bus and car from as far away as Florida and Iowa.

Simultaneous demonstrations took place in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Honolulu, Albuquerque, Des Moines, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Tampa, and many other US cities.”

There were even demonstrations in my dinky hometown, and there’s been many here since.

There is information on the internet about the things you’ve questioned, you just have to put out the effort to look it up, instead of forming opinions without knowing the facts.

The fact that many people in the US are against this war, or any other, isn’t really the point. The fact that it makes people from other countries feel better about us, as if better somehow means that even people in the US don’t like the US is not the point either. Because even people like myself who are against this war and any war anywhere are not against America as a country because of it…. in fact, it’s one of the things I like BEST about living here- that I can disagree, protest and generally complain just about anywhere I want, because I live in the US, and not in some other country that does not allow people to find fault with their own government.

If you are really intent on not liking America, you might want to find some less disputable reasons for it.
