  • Maghen Duvala and Robert Ellingson

    Maghen DuvalaHere’s 25-year-old Maghen Duvala.

She looks really tired, doesn’t she?

She certainly looks more tired in her mugshot than she does on her MySpace page.

Why do you think she’s so tired?

Could it be because she had a 2-month-old baby girl?

Infants are tiring. They keep you from doing things that you want to do. Like meth.

Robert EllingsonHere’s 23-year-old Robert Ellingson, Maghen’s boyfriend and her baby’s daddy.

Robert Ellingson had a warrant out for his arrest because of charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving and accidents involving death or personal injury.

He’s obviously a winner in the game of life.

Well, on the 21st of December, 2006, Robert Ellingson came up with the brilliant plan to get more meth by selling Maghen Duvala’s 2-month old baby.

Fair enough. People like babies. In today’s capitalistic marketplace, there has to be a demand for babies.

So, how much did Maghen and Robert decide to ask interested buyers of their baby? $20,000? $10,000?

    Try $30.

After trying to sell the baby to passers-by in a bank parking lot (which makes perfect sense, because that’s where people keep their money) for a while and not getting any interested buyers, Maghen Duvala and Robert Ellingson moved their base of operations to a nearby PetSmart.

They also changed their sales approach, offering a free beer if you bought their baby.

Robert Ellingson’s dreams of setting up a chain of baby-selling franchises came to an abrupt halt when he approached the wrong customer - Josh Elder.

Josh Elder, who had just gotten out of a Teen Challenge counseling session, thought that Robert was joking until Maghen assured him that, yes, indeed, the baby is for sale.

Josh had recently lost a child of his own, and didn’t think it was a good idea for people to go around selling babies.

    So he called the cops.

Cops came, arrested Maghen and Robert, and put them in jail, where they were charged with child neglect.

The Department of Children & Families took custody of the baby.

The DCF, at least, probably won’t sell it.

If you ever consider hiring a nanny, please make sure you do a nanny background check - otherwise you might end up with someone like Maghen Duvala.

Do Maghen Duvala and Robert Ellingson deserve Hell?

they still have Teen Challenge? i used to read about that program in these books by this guy named John Benton. actually i still have several of those books. they’re hilarious! all of them are titled after a girl’s name (Debbie, Candi, etc.) and in every single one, the title girl (some prostitute or drug addict) gets into a sh**load of trouble, then meets the author himself and winds up at the Walter Hoving Home (a sort of girls’ Teen Challenge). in EVERY SINGLE BOOK!

anyway how weird to read about it here. and those two people are morons.

Didn’t Charles Manson’s mom try to sell him for a pitcher of beer? Lovely. At least DCS stepped in before the child was killed or sold to the highest bidder.

      Kudos to Josh.
Not only did he stop some crackhead babysellers, but he rose above the whole ‘teen challenge’ thing.

Biased, yes, I am. I had very BAC adoptive parents, and spent my time from 6-16 going to church 2-3 times per week, being forced to attend ‘youth for christ’ meetings one day a week after school, attending youth bible studies at least one evening a week, and spending a couple of weeks every summer at church camp.

Meaning, that between 6-16, I spent a lot of time avoiding being molested, from everyone from the pastor’s son, to my camp counselors. Since my a-parents never discussed molestation, I really was lucky that I somehow intrinsically knew to refuse the various offers/pressures I was presented with. Probably only because of the abuse I received from my b-mother until I was adopted.
And, only until age 17, when my a-brother assaulted me and attempted to molest me, at which point I moved out. That didn’t go over so well, since he was, and 25 years later, still is a stellar example of a BAC.

So, yes, I am surprised when anyone from a conservative or religious background does the right thing. Because it’s not usual. So bravo to Josh. I am curious about the whole ‘because he lost a child’ thing, though…..fits in with everything I saw my religious peers doing- getting knocked up and all.

      As far as DCF-
No, hopefully they won’t sell the baby…
But I am not going to bet that they won’t give the baby back to the POS. I have personal experience with this, in that CDF repeatedly gave me back to my POS b-parents from birth to age 6. So, yeah, I’m a little biased, and don’t have much faith in the wisdom of returning neglected/abused children to their b-families. Mostly because it only hurts the children, and the POS don’t deserve it.

I’ll check back on this to see how soon they return the baby ‘for their best interests’.
      Right.

Couldn’t they just have sold sex for money? I mean that’s the common thing around junkies. At least the people I got high with. that’s what they’d do. most of the time just have sex with the connect for like anywhere from a 20 sack to an 8-ball.

Actually I wish more meth heads would try to sell their babies. Handing over your kid to a completely random stranger is going to land them in better care than being raised by a bunch of junkies.

Maybe I should start a non-profit: give up your kids and get sterilized and we’ll give you $1000 to fill your body with poison and at the same time make sure your kids wind up with someone who will actually give a crap about them.

      Dark Marksun-

Um, yeah, but make it $1000 in DRUGS, not cash.
Wait- that’s not enough. Make it $5000 in drugs.

We don’t want to just be carrying them over til their next drug scam… give them enough to take themselves out all at once. For some reason I don’t think druggies would be very good at rationing their junk out for very long.

I think there should be a one-strike parenting rule- if you abuse, molest or abandon your child even once, your parenting ends, and both cell donors get snippy-snipped, as well as having all other children, even if not abused, taken away. Forever.

Then, disallow people to adopt any children from outside the US if there are any adoptable children available here. Save foster parenting for short-term housing while in the process of adoption, instead of long-term warehousing or major financial gain. I’m kind of sick of people who have soooooo much love for children that they want to adopt. What they mean is that they have love for only certain ages, colours and sexes of children. I laugh at people who think that adopting asian children from overseas, (when they have no clue who the bioparents were, or how mentally healthy they were) guarantees them a child free from misbehaviour. Or the people who adopt children from the orphanages in Romania, because they look so caucasian. Guess they never heard of attachment disorder?

I love my children more than anything, which is good. But I know myself well enough to know that I do not like children in general enough to be eager to adopt just any old kid. I’d adopt some of my children’s friends that I like, maybe, but that’s it. I wish adoptive people would be more honest about their preferences.

Obviously, the US needs to seriously revamp our adoption processes, fostering programs, and child protection services. They should start by not giving children back to abusive/neglectful homes. I was in 2 different foster homes, an orphanage, and had been returned to my biomother 3 times before I was finally adopted at age 6. I should have been adopted out the day I was born, which was the first time I was taken away from her.

Parents who are incapable of parenting should have no rights to their children, and should not have the luxury of creating further children. They should also stop paying for longterm foster care, and instead offer a permanent tax credit for families who adopt their fostered children. This eliminates ‘collectors’ who just want to collect a foster check, and encourages adoption by people who are employed and could care for more children if they received more tax credits.

Punish the evildoers, reward the good people. So simple.

I’d also like to suggest that people who’ve had their children removed be forced to pay child support into the system, but that’s probably more than most people’d like. Also, force inmates who have children to work in prisons, then garnish their wages for child support, too. Let them fund the children’s protection services for a change, since they’re the ones who used them.

so then what is a b-mother or a-mother

      [Reply]

    20. comment number 20 by: GloryBug

Eek. Sorry. I guess I shouldn’t assume that all forums use the same abreviations….

b-mother = birth mother or biological mother, father
      a-parent, a-mom, a-dad = adoptive parent, mom, dad

I don’t personally have any, but I always assume when other people say ’s-mom or s-dad’ that they mean a step-parent.

Don’t ask me what it means when people say Dh, dd, dsd…. etc. I think someone told me once that the ‘d’ stood for ‘dear’, as in ‘dear husband’, etc. That’s making things more complicated than I need.

I can’t believe so many people voted ‘no’ for these POS. Especially the mother.
and I love the post where ‘her friend’ says it was all just a big misunderstanding. Sure it was.

I’ve tried my share of drugs but never meth. ive been reading a lot of stories lately where people are tweeked out on this shit and abuse their kids. Sorry, but I dont think thats an excuse. i think these people were fucked up in the head BEFORE they got high, and the drugs just made it worse.

You know.. when my daughter was born, a nurse came up to me quietly and told me to take “extra care” with her, because she was a blonde haired, blue eyed one. This nurse told me that “desirable” babies like that are worth $50,000!!! I don’t think she was being discriminatory, I think she was stating a fact, and it made sense.

So these two retards couldn’t sell the baby for a hit of meth?

Seems to me that if I wanted to sell a baby, I would look in the classified ads of the local paper, for “adoption” ads. I guarantee that anyone desperate enough to advertise like that would be willing to buy the baby for a hell of a lot more than $30.

Truth be told, the baby would have stood a hell of a better chance in life if the dumb fucks had done that. No matter what, that child is probably doomed now.
