25-year-old Christopher Lee McCuin here, who worked as a sheetrock hauler for a while, might look completely normal in his preppy little sweater there, actually isn’t.
Normal.
Not at all.
According to one of his neighbors, Christopher Lee McCuin would:
…stand in the roadway and wouldn’t let people pass and he would talk to himself – he was always acting crazy.
Well, maybe Christopher McCuin wasn’t acting.
Christopher McCuin was certainly known to the authorities, if not for his eccentric behavior. He had a history of violence – which most recently involved being charged with evading arrest and retaliation on the 9th of November, 2007. Looking at his criminal background history, he also had charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as well as driving while intoxicated. In 2003, Christopher McCuin was sentenced to three years in prison for the aggravated assault charge.
This nice-looking girl is 21-year-old Jana Shearer.

Jana Shearer seems like a genuinely nice girl, who certainly did not deserve to be cooked and eaten – which she was – on the first weekend of the year 2008.
Christopher McCuin drove his truck over to Jana Shearer’s mother’s apartment to pick Jana up on Friday night. For some reason, Jana’s mother, despite noticing that Jana wasn’t wearing shoes, had no purse and didn’t have her cell phone with her, decided everything was ok. From what Jana Shearer’s mother has been saying, it didn’t look like there was any struggle to get her in Christopher McCuin’s truck.
Some time after getting into Christopher McCuin’s truck, Jana Shearer was repeatedly hit on the head with a blunt object until she was dead.
After shoving his now ex-girlfriend’s body in the back of his extended-cab truck, Christopher McCuin drove over to his estranged wife’s house, showing up at about 3 in the morning and breaking in.
Once inside, Christopher McCuin encountered his wife’s new boyfriend, 42-year-old William Veasley. After getting punched in the jaw by William Veasley, Christopher McCuin stabbed his wife’s boyfriend in the shoulder.
What surprises me the most about this whole thing is that Christopher Lee McCuin had actually gotten married at one point.
When police arrived at Christopher McCuin’s ex-girlfriend’s home, they were thinking that they were just dealing with a simple domestic violence issue. Christopher McCuin, who was still in the house when police arrived, jumped into his truck and, after a short car chase, escaped from the cops – with Jana Shearer, dead and still in the back of the extended cab.
After that, we’re not sure where Christopher McCuin went, although he did call several people who knew him and Jana Shearer, telling them what he did and taunting them a bit. Nobody deemed these phone calls worthy of police attention, of course, because hey – he’s just claimed to kill your friend, it’s not like he’s done anything bad.
Christopher McCuin wasn’t seen until the next morning, on the 5th of January, 2008, at his mother’s house, which is actually a pretty nice-looking ranch-style home, as you can see.
What you can’t see (yet) is the condition of the garage, which is supposed to resemble that of an abattoir. Considering that this happened in Texas, a state with a lot of beef, you’d think they’d recognize a slaughterhouse if they saw one.
Christopher McCuin spent his night carving up Jana Shearer’s body, boiling a few pieces here and there and generally making a mess.
Proud of what he’d done, he walked in on his mother and her boyfriend and told them to come into the garage:
Come see what I’ve done.
Those are words that you’d expect more from a 4-year-old with a new finger painting. Not a 25-year-old cannibal who has just carved up his girlfriend’s body in your garage. Christopher seemed geniunely excited about something, so Christopher McCuin’s mother and her boyfriend were lured into the garage with Christophers’ sweetened words and witnessed the carnage for themselves.
Gagging, the pair ran outside and called for help.
Right after he had showed his work to his mother, Christopher McCuin called 911 and told the operator who answered that he had killed his girlfriend, Jana Shearer, that he was cooking a few of her body parts, and that he was going to eat her.
Sane guy.
This statement alerted the authorities that something strange was afoot, and police were dispatched to the McCuin residence. They arrived to find Christopher McCuin’s mother and her boyfriend outside and hysterical.
As for Christopher McCuin – he had barricaded himself in his mother’s home, a situation which only lasted for a little while before he came out to say “Hi” to everyone. carrying a kitchen knife.
When police entered the McCuin home, they found Jana Shearer’s body in the back of the cab of Christopher McCuin’s truck. It had been cut into several times. One of her biceps was missing, along with some skin on her temple. Her ear was also missing.
The ear was found boiling in a pot of water on the kitchen stove, and a place was set for dinner on the kitchen table – complete with a fork, which was stuck into a chunk of human flesh as it lay on a plate.
The chunk of flesh was Jana Shearer’s bicep.
As he was in the back of a patrol car, in handcuffs, Christopher McCuin kicked out the police cruiser window.
Officers showed great restraint in not beating him down at that point.
Christopher Lee McCuin has been charged with capital murder. We’re going to guess that he’s going to be quite famous for some time, and that he will never, ever, ever be allowed into regular society again.

I’ve know Chris for quite somtime. While he has had his problems, nothing would have lead me to believe that he would do something as horiffic as what he is being accused of here. He obviously has had some kind of a mental breakdown and needs help.

I’m with john on this. If this ?individual? had actually *eaten* some, I’d buy his ‘guys I’m soooo crazy’ stuff. However, IIRC all he did was boiling an ear, and sticking a fork in a piece of flesh. Sounds like staging and preparing an insanity defense to me. I’d bet the farm on it, he killed her in an argument, because she wanted out of the relationship, and then, after lots of hard thinking, he had an ingenious moment.

Jana was an awsome person, once you meet her you would never forget her! I know that both of them had been battling drugs for awhile. Jana had been trying to break up with Chris and I guess he just did not want to accept it. It is such a tragic loss to everyone involved and just a brutal crime. RIP JanaBananna

I come to this site all the time and am appalled by the actions of people these days. I live in Oklahoma, and this happened in Texas. The location is only a little over an hour away from my hometown. When I was watching this on the news the other night, I was thinking … “This is something like you’d read on PYSIH” … and here it is. You don’t expect things like this to happen in your own back yard. But they do. There are sick individuals EVERYWHERE. Revelations. This is the beginning of the end. Cannibalism seems to be the norm these days, along with killing your loved ones and raping your children. My heart goes out to all the survivors and victim’s families. Subject to further information, it sounds like the guy may well be insane, and I mean ‘insane’ in the legal sense, in that he was suffering from off a mental illness at the time and that he a) wasn’t in control of his actions, b) didn’t have the capacity to know right from wrong or c) did not know what he was doing. Granted, his crime was truly horrific, but I think what people here need to appreciate is that he may not have been fully in control of his actions. If this is the case, he needs treatment, not punishment. Perhaps he should also be confined somewhere, because he presents too great a danger to public safety to be released back into the community, but this is a separate issue from punishment.
I think that people are reacting to the nature of the crime, without stopping to consider what may have caused somebody to act in such a way.
I’m surprised that this website even has a section called ‘insanity’ at all. The site’s name implies the passing of a moral judgement, and most of the other categories refer the the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’. Is mental illness a sin now?

Your brand of racism isn’t even ignorant, it’s just plain stupid. I will choose to believe that you are simply trolling around wanting to stir something up or you’re some deluded individual that probably had the mental capacity of our Mr.McCuin or some other marginally intellegent toddler.
I am symathetic to those suffering from mental illness. I, myself, have been through depression (who hasn’t?) and having come out the other side I can honestly say that my perception was most definitely skewed. However, if you are insane to the point that you are willing to carve your grilfriend up and eat or even pretend to eat her, you should be locked away, never to be heard from again. There is no way to fix this kind of crazy folks. We can’t rehabilitate someone who has moseyed on ’round the bend. There is nothing within the collective wisdom as it is at this time that will help this guy snap back into being a normal, reasonable, non-violent person. He is broken and can’t be put back together. So, while I feel for his family and I have a infintesimal amount of pity for him, I’m on the side of the victim and her family and as such, I want this guy removed from society, permanantly.

In major cities like Boston and New York, there are people who are legitimately “sick” or insane walking the streets because the states closed te asylums. These people need help, but they won’t get it until either they jump infront of a bus or subway train or they push someone else infront of a bus or subway train.
Feeding and sheltering Chris and other POS like him, is a terrible waste of resources esp in times where we have war veterans (weather you agree with the war or not) that are coming back to face bankruptcy, homelessness, joblessness and / or have become disabled as a result of war related injuries. Firstly, try reading my post in its entirety. I never said that I thought that McCuin should be released back into the community. Simply that I thought that punishment and public safety were two separate issues.
Secondly, I do not care more about McCuin than I do about war veterans. Why is it so many people assume because a person speaks out against something, that it must be the *only* thing they care about? Your criticism is either extremely stupid or just plain deceptive.

Jennifer- I have have been there, Not due to somebody murdering someone I love but several other deaths. Couseling does help, getting overwhelmed with anger does not. Your anger will just snowball into deep depression which will not harm you but those who love you. Jana would not want any harm to come to you, so do it for her. Focus and keep your eye on ball. Do things in her memory such as plant her favorite flowers in her favorite place, get a tattooo (at an approved place) in her honor, start a college memorial fund in her name in a field of interest that she had, go to a victim of domestic violence rally and represent her, these are just a few things that you can do to help you and to memorialize her as somebody the YOU loved as well as to help others cope with their loses. Right now you Jennifer have choices to make, and not easy ones, so please think real hard about where you want your path to lead and how you’re going to carry Jana’s memory down that path with you. I listening even if you don’t think so, and I’m here for ya.

The police are hinting that McCuin’s death was a suicide. They said that they do not suspect any foul play and that he was in a cell all by himself when he died.
Doesn’t make what he did any better, but hopefully the family in this case can find some solace in knowing that he is gone from this earth.

My babies were napping and I just knew they would get up at any moment: ) My apologies, anyway, I looked at what you said, then went back to the original conversation again to try to see what had bothered you so much. I can see what you are saying. However, in Jennifer’s first post she addressed everyone as “dummies” and “idiots” who were mocking Jana’s death. She probably just meant to address the asshole trolls who come here to just try to get a rise out of people. More than likely because of that( and her grammer) she got mocked. Maybe she offended the regulars who attacked her, I don’t know I can’t speak for them. I haven’t ever seen any of the people who come here show anything but compassion to victims of these kinds of crimes and their families (with the exception of an asshole troll or two). But like I said before I did see what you were saying and, Yes it could have been handled differently. I do hope that you choose to stick around and explore more of the site. I think you maybe got the wrong impression of the people here. “Pysih” could use more people like you.

I don’t understand this holiday crap. If you’re offended because someone says Happy Kwanzaa or Happy Hanukkah you’re a douche. Being offended because someone says Merry Christmas means you deserve to be hung upside-down from a rafter like mistletoe until you pass out. If someone said “God Bless you” after I sneezed and I got offended about it, I would hope someone would put me out of my misery because my life would be a very sad one.
May I be first in line to “straighten” you out should said affliction come up? I promise to do the best job anyone could do.

Aww what’s wrong with “Happy Holidays”? :-( I just start saying it around Thanksgiving so that it goes for all three. (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years)
Hahaha. I guess I see it as… When you’re with your family do you say “happy holidays?” It just seems tacky and insincere. I miss the raw sincerity that once touched everyday interaction. If some old lady said “You have a Merry Christmas!” I would feel so touched by the fact that she greeted me and meant it. “Happy Holidays” you’re just trying to get through the day! :-p
I went to Red Robin’s last night like the fat ass I am and our waiter told another table “Happy Holidays” and it just seemed so forced. I say, do what feels natural as long as you mean it. I hate the idea of selling out just to make other people happy. Just like the little cunts that get all upset if you hold the door open for them! i say happy holidays unless i know what holiday the person im talking to celebrates, then i say “merry christmas/happy hannukah/happy kwanzaa” outright.
but when i’m talking to a whole group of people (like when i said goodbye tonight as i left the office) i just say happy holidays so i don’t have to take the time to give individual greetings.

As far as Christopher, he was just damn insane. I get peeved whenever someone tries to claim insanity or mental anguish as some kind of defense against a crime. I believe that if you did the crime, you should do the time no matter what. If there are extenuating circumstances like mental disability, maybe a little leniency, but ONLY a little….like a teeny teeny teeny tiny bit. Tiny.
