  • Lawrence Douglas Harris

Lawrence Douglas HarrisWiccans are very silly people.

While some people genuinely feel threatened by witch-type people, most believe that Wicca is just a bunch of unpopular kids in high school dancing about under the full moon and chanting to themselves while hoping their parents don’t find out they’re having “sex magic.”

    Whatever.

25-year-old Lawrence Douglas Harris Sr. considered himself a pagan, which is different from a wiccan because…well, in all honesty who cares? Live and let live.

Apparently his wife, 32-year-old Marla Harris wasn’t turned off by it, marrying Lawrence Douglas Harris back when they lived in Minnesota a few years ago.

The couple, Marla Harris’ two girls, 10-year-old Kendra Suing and her sister, 8-year-old Alysha Suing, the 3-year-old son of Marla and Lawrence, and a 12-year-old sibling of Kendra and Alysha who was a registered sexual offender all moved to Sioux City in April.

Lawrence Douglas Harris got a job at the local Wal-Mart and Marla Harris started work at a home for people with mental disabilities.

    Perfectly normal.

Lawrence Douglas Harris was freaking Kendra and Alysha out a bit, with the whole witch/pagan/wiccan thing - enough that they were asking a bus driver of their church group questions about why practicing witchcraft was so sinful.

The associate pastor of that church group, Cary Gordon told the press:

The kids were pelting our bus captain with questions constantly, all the way home, about that issue, why is it wrong. Our bus captain got the creepy feeling that they obviously had a lot of weird stuff going on in their house.

    Hey, you’ve seen nothing yet.

On the 6th of January, 2008, Lawrence Douglas Harris Sr. disobeyed the precepts of wicca/paganism/witchcraft/whatever of “An it harm none, do what ye will.”

That was the day that Lawrence Douglas Harris, who was alone with Kendra and Alysha, strangled and stabbed both of the girls to death in their bedroom and set fire to the house around them.

A neighbor noticed the fire and called the police, who arrived to find Lawrence Harris out front, waiting for them. As Lawrence stood there with blood on his clothes, he explained to the officers that arrived that the girls were both dead in their bedroom, killed as a result of a spell that had gone wrong.

According to court documents, Lawrence Harris:

…had been casting a spell that had gone bad, and that the spell could have had severe consequences.

    NDPYSIH125×125You bet.

Marla Harris had the joy of arriving to a somewhat charred house and being told that half of her family was dead.

I’d say those were severe consequences.

For Lawrence Douglas Harris, the consequence of being a murdering bastard was being charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Does Lawrence Douglas Harris deserve Hell?

when i lived in Dublin, i befriended a couple who i guess would also be described as wiccan. she called herself a witch, he called himself a shaman. both perfectly sane people (well, as sane as i am). their idea of the whole thing was pretty much that if they didn’t hurt anyone else with it, it’s perfectly fine and i agree with that wholeheartedly. this guy is NOT like them at all, this is a psycho who needs to spend the rest of his misserable life in jail and suffer hell after death.

      DualDenz, I agree with you.

I am a First Degree Wiccan Priestess. Most of the people that practice Wicca/Shamanism/Paganism are perfectly sane. This person was not a Pagan. This person is a wackjob! There’s a huge difference. :-)

Once again, stupid mom marries dangerous guy and brings him home to the kids. She is at least responsible somewhat for the deaths of these kids. This guy was a known freak and had a record. That’s about as smart as marrying that tub of shit David Spears and then using him for a babysitter. Am I saying Colleen Spears was partialy responsiple for the death of Rowan Ford? Hell yes I am! Is it unreasonable to ask a Mom to think of their kids first instead of their own needs? Speaking of needs, what women needs a worthless tub of lard/shit around the house anyway?

I know plenty of Wiccans and Pagans, and I love most of them to death. They are just as swell as some of the Catholics, Baptists, Atheists, Muslims, and Jewish folks that I know. :)
The dude here is just a fucking sick bastard. I’ll bet he didn’t really have too many Wiccan buddies in real life. They would have felt the evil coming off of him. He deserves a good ass whooping for the rest of his life.

Whit, what is a pagan? I know about wiccans but not about pagans. What’s wrong with just having your own personal spirtually without having to associate with stuff someone else thought up. I haven’t found a religion yet that has not been bastardized by the people who made it up in the first place. I personally like the American Indian religions. Common sense without the shit.

But this guy is going to use the general public’s fear and ignorance and blame whoever he can for their influence on his life.
I have a friend who is a Satanist - I am a Christain and while there is a big difference between the two religions, we are both human beings with other interests such tha our differences don’t become issues.

Anyway he’s hoping to get a jury of his peers - while he won’t get wack jobs like him, ignorant people are a dime a dozen!

Emergency Nurse, Paganism is actually an umbrella term. It means polythesis (many Deity). Whereas a Christian or Jewish religion is monothesis (one God). Wiccans are Pagans, Shamans are Pagans, etc. etc. etc.

      Thank you for asking. :)

Sorry, but most of the Pagans (mostly Wiccans) I know use that religion to behave badly, Quoting the “Harm None” ethos, while their actions really do end up hurting someone.

Yes, yes, there are bad seeds with every religion, I know that. But the percentage of bad seeds that call themselves pagan are far higher then most others.

I’d like to point out that ‘Satanism’ is in the same mono-theist group as Christian, Muslim, Judaism. Anyone who tries to group Satanism with Paganism doesn’t know WTF they’re talking about. Not that anyone has done that here yet, but, it happens a lot.

I spent some time considering myself a pagan, and concluded that the only people as dogmatic as pagans are RCs.

I was not trying to lump Paganism and Satanism into the same bin - I was just highlighting that Satanism and Christianity while radically different in some of its underlying foundations, does not mean that a Christain and a Satanist must try to kill each other on sight, and may even agree on certain things like the fact that this guy is a POS while each coming from a different moral foundation.
As a Satanic site put it - the main difference between Christianity and Satanism is that Satanism promote the self first and others second; it’s a “selfish” religion while Christianity promotes the welfare of others before that of yourself, it’s a “sacrificial” religion. By using these as definitions, there are plenty of Christains who make better Satanists and there are Satanists, like my friend Cyndy, who are more Christ like than many of His professed followers.

But my point was simply that this guy - no matter how crazy we’d like to label him - might be more like Corporal Klinger from M*A*S*H than the wack job we want to write him off as.

    20. comment number 20 by: GloryBug

Those children would have been murdered anyway, regardless of the religion of the POS. He could have just converted to xianity- and then he no doubt would have claimed that ‘god’ told him to do it.

I am so sick of the lame excuses POSs give for their purposeful crimes.

Praying, meditating, doing spells…. they are all the same. Psychologically they accomplish the same things. Studies show that anything you do that helps you focus on a problem you want a solution for helps make it happen. If for no other reason than that focussing on it allows you to discover more solutions than if you don’t.

Emergencynurse- I agree with many of your comments. Although I was brought up BAC, it never rang true for me. I would guess that what I believe would classify me as an ‘Animist’. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animism) which is similar to the beliefs most Native American Indians had before their mass forced conversion to BAC/Catholicism. Being Potowatomi Indian may have pushed me in that direction, but it makes more sense to me than BAC. Sometimes it seems to me that a lot of the major religions aren’t really religions anymore…. they are political stances hiding behind the concept of religion.

Xian kills someone- ‘God’ told them to. God tells them to go to war, also.
Muslim kills someone- their book says they should..to protect their honour. Also tells them to go to war.
Wiccan/satanist/pagan (it is politically correct- if not logically correct to think they’re all the same) kills someone- they are just evil.

I tend to not like any religion that justifies war on behalf of their religion. Just my personal choice.

This POS no doubt will claim the ‘voices’ made him do it. Everyone will be shocked/scared about his involvement in an alternative religion. Even though he does not represent any of those religons. If I am not mistaken, neither Satanism, Paganism or Wiccan advocate violence, even to the extent that they do not promote or endorse war, which all of the popular religions do.

Throw his religion out the door and just try him on the murders he committed. No ‘abused as a child’ excuse, either. Or ‘woo-hoo, I’m a crazy guy’ defense.

I would be very interested to find out exactly what ’spell’ he was trying to do. Other than the “I’m going to kill my little girls and blame it on my religion” spell.
Maybe he should have worked a little harder on his ‘kill my wife’s kids, blame it on a religion many people have a psychologically negative reaction to and therefore escape any punishment’ spell.

      No- Absoeffinlutely.
Pansy people blame their effed up actions on their religion.
Loser people attribute effed up actions that are clearly the result of crackawackas on their religion.

He can blame it on whatever he wants cuz he knows the system. If I would have ever thought he was going to hurt my kids I never would have left my kids home with him. Yes I feel partially responsible for the deaths of my girls cuz i keep telling myself that IF i wouldnt have worked a double that day I would have been home but if he was planning on doing this then he would have done it some other day anyway. So you all can think what you want, but until something like this happens to you which I would hope that it wouldnt, you have know room to talk.

and that pole…does he deserve hell?

admin - poles rarely if ever deserve hell. They’re just poles.

well what exactly r u trying him on?

admin - nothing, People You’ll See In Hell isn’t a court of law, it’s a court of public opinion.

doing a spell or killing the girls?

admin - since spells are make-believe, I think the killing the girls part would be good enough.

cuz it seems that yourall on a spur of hes bad for doing a spell!

      admin - huh?

PLUS you all know what you hear from the news and crap…

admin - we agree, the state of modern news reporting is in a sorry state.

I like to look @ the police reports…evidence!

admin - we’re sure you’re very bright and have read all the police reports.

      I myself blame myself everyday!

admin - it’s good to accept your guilt.

I was the last one to leave the house that day…

admin - did you turn the lights out?

      4 hrs before the fire…

admin - perhaps if you cast a spell, it would have prevented the fire.

      if i didnt go to work…who knows…

admin - you’d be on government aid like many other people who communicate as well as you do are.

that family took me in…cared for me like their own…

admin - did they set you on fire?

each day…the girls would give me hugs and kisses and say “i love you putty tat”

admin - that’s an odd nickname, but cute. Are you sure you’re not a stripper?

you all need to really sit back and think of what your writting…

admin - believe me, we do.

      is it really neccessary?

      admin - not at all.

Umm, hate to break it to you, Marla, but I don’t think anyone will be lining up to ‘go through this’ just so they have your permission to comment about it.

When I weigh all the understanding I might be able to gain if I allowed my ex to pretend to cast spells that included tossing around flammable liquids on my children, while he was doing some mumbo-jumbo incantations that actually involve him then striking a match and lighting our children on fire, I’m at an impasse.

I mean, do I want to ‘understand the situation better’? Or, considering that I and my children are vegetarians, should I choose the door that has less meat of the human kind sizzling on the barbie?

      Decisions, decisions.

Ok, I’m a wimp. I choose the no-burning children door. I think I can live with not understanding whatever Mr. pyro was thinking.

I would like to thank Marla for her warning that I should keep my children away from ‘normal’ people who have a tendency for setting children on fire. If you have a match, I will ninja the crap out of you and your match!. SO, take that!

      _____________________

On a serious note, this kind of crap is very insulting to people who have non-cult alternative religions/beliefs. I’d like more proof of the ‘magic/spells’ this pyro was supposedly doing. Getting the flames to actually get on your children doesn’t really count, in my book.

No we can only blame the person who did this crime and that is not ME. I worked my ass off for my family and for you people to sit here and tell me that I am to blame for my daughters death because my husband was a different religion then I am is rediculous. I do not believe that it was his religion or anything to do with religion that made him do this I dont even know why or what brought this on. I dont know that I will ever know. And for your comment about the police reports No we have not gotten to see them or anything else that has to do with the case. Not autopsy reports or anything. My daughters and my family will eventually move on from this tragedy as will you people who think you have to make nasty comments about situations you know nothing about unless you have gone through it.
