But Peter was away from family and friends and was too trustworthy and chose to give her the benefit of the doubt. But when his best mate from high school joined the Army just months before Peter entrusted him to look after Nicola while he was away ungoing serious military training in Melbourne before being deployed to Iraq. His “mate” then betrayed him with his cheating girlfriend! How do you think this made Peter feel. Here was a nineteen year old young man, he was training for Iraq for He was betrayed by both his girlfriend and his highschool and army “mate”. Yeah, that’s Army mateship for ya! The worst thing you could do to your mate!. OK Peter got rid of Nicola and had a big punch fight with his ex-mate.Would you blame the man! Then Nicola found out that she had possibly contracted Hep C from Peter’s ex-mate, the guy she cheated with. I was at the trial also. Nicola was convicted of depriving the “cheater” of his liberty, attempted sexual penetration and common assault. Two of the convictions were down graded from the initial charges and the jury did their job well.
The above article is pretty accurate. Essentially a girl who was pissed off at this army trooper for cheating on her and at the time believing that she may have contracted hep C. So she wants to have payback and rings her ex boyfriend and convinces him that both of them should get back at him even though Peter had settled his dispute previously in a fight with the “cheater” and was “over it”. That Sat night is the only day they can do it as Peter arrives from Darwin that morning and the “cheater” leaves for Darwin on Sunday. The point was to “teach him a lesson”.
IMO it is highly possible that the “penetration” part did not occur and was spiced up by the “cheater”. But nevertheless it was premeditated and there was overwhelming evidence that both were involved voluntarily.
No one has though that the “cheater” should go to hell because really he did the dirty on Peter then he did the dirty on Nicola. He is the whole reason this happened
I dont have a huge problem with what Nicola had done to this point, but I do have issue with what she said in court. There was so much overwhelming evidence that there was no way she was going to get away with blaming Peter. Her evidence was full of lies trying to blame it on Peter and portaying him as Violent and Domineering WHICH HE IS DEFINATELY NOT. Her defence lawyer was mad thinking that he could win the case blaming Peter for it also. Nicola should have been honest, pleaded guilty to the charges or slighly lesser charges and explained what truely happened. I am sure the judge would have made a large concession for the circumstances of what the “cheater” did.
It is very sad and tragic that we lost Peter as he was a wonderful boy. We miss him.
Yeah, Peter made a wrong judgement call. Though Nicola had her defence have Peter painted as violent and disturbed and that he threatened her to do what she did to the guy. What alot of billshit.She was with him for 5 long years and Peter tried to get away from her by joining the Army and moving to Darwin, but she followed him up there despite having a job and studying in Perth. She was the principal instigator of all that followed, Peter was the dumb sheep, she incited Peter into being involved the day he came down to Perth for his last 2 weeks R&R before his deployment to Iraq. Peter was NOT violent. He was a sensitive soul that got involved with a betraying seductrice, and his best mate betrayed him on top of it all. He was surrounded by betrayal and was seriously hurt by it. He didn’t suicide because he was ashamed of the events, he did it because he was afraid of what it was going to do to his family. He did it in a misguided sense of selflessness, but how wrong he was.
Peter was a handsome, beautiful, artistic, sensitive young soul, who was ultimately betrayed by so many in life and now in death.
Nicola blatantly lied and tried to pin everything on a dead man. Good defence…Dead men can’t defend themselves She may have the face of an angel but she is a manipulating seductress…but can’t blame her because of her upbringing. The trooper who was assaulted was not blameless either…he cheated on both his long standing school AND Army mate! And that’s the worst kind of betrayal. I feel sorry for Nicola now that she has been convicted. But she lied in court and tried to blame Gurdulic for everything, and falsely described him as violent and that he threatened her into doing what she did. None of the three are blameless but to base your defence on blaming a dead man, who you once showed you compassion and who looked after you in your time of desparation and need and supported you finacially and emotionally, is so cold and ruthless. Nothing excuses the assault, but disloyalty, betrayal and revenge proved fatal.
Peter had been hurt and betrayed by people throughout his life. He was the sought of guy that valued loyalty and trust upmost. He would take a bullet for his mate’s because that’s the kind of person he was. His self-esteem had been shattered from events throughout his life. But the way he was depicted by the defence as violent is an untruth. He was compassionate and was the first to extend a hand of support to someone in need. He is not blameless but the plan was not initiated by him but by his scheming ex who convinced him to take part. And the stupid boy went along. I don’t feel anger towards Nicola though because she is not responsible for her upbringing either, which made her the way she is. God will judge us all in the end. I never had anything in depth to do with Nicola except on one occasion when there was clear deceit by her to me. The story she concocted for the court case was ridiculous considering all the evidence that was there. Her police interview video tape completely contradicted nearly all her “oath evidence” to the point that she claimed under oath that she lied in most of the police interview.
To be able to lie to this degree and to EXPECT people to believe it in the face of all the evidence against her amazes me. I guess her lawyer just played with it knowing instead of pleading guilty with mitigating circumstances and getting paid for 1 day in court, going along with her story he will get paid alot more days in court. To be a defence lawyer you really gotta have a bit of an imagination and the ability to put the spin on like he did (i,e crap on).
Why is Nicola such a liar. Why did Nicola think its OK to sleep with her mates ex boyfriend. I think part of the explanation on the second point may lie with her mothers reputation with men. The daughter sees what her mother is like with male relationships and then it impacts on the way she thinks where the boundaries are.
I hope Nicola reads this and thinks hey, I haven’t been fooling anyone and now I have created myself a bad reputation. I think the “cheater” (not sure why his real name is not being used by I will refrain for his sake)seems to have acknowledged some of his errors in this matter and hopes he fully understands where he erred.
Poor Peter. His suicide is complicated to understand but here are a few issues that didn’t help. When someone is taken to a top QC and told that its going to cost $100000 to defend his case it scared him and didn’t want to put this burden on his family. Together with a particular unsuportive hysterical lunatic calling him evil and bad did not help. And there was someone else who was advised by Peter some days beforehand that he had attempted suicide but this person decided himself not to tell anyone even though he was briefed a few days prior by Defence Personel that if Peter displayed any suicidal signs notify us immediately and we will offer our services. This may give you a little insight. This was not a case of depression or mental illness. It was a very selfless act.
All 3 were to blame. It was betrayal from all angles. Not one of them is guilt-free. They all acted stupidly and one paid the ultimate price. 2 were still in their teens and the 3rd was barely out of his teens. They had all been good friends at some stage. Then there was the betrayal. The female betraying her longstanding BF . The trooper betraying his Army mate having an affair with his GF while he was away on military training for Iraq, the trooper betraying the GF with an old GF and then the GF (accused) wanting pay-back cos the trooper cheated on her and possibly gave her Hep C and involving her old BF to seek her revenge. It all back-fired
The suicide note that is referred to in the newspaper article in the West Australian 26 jan 2008 is no “confession” by the deceased as suggested by NCR and her defence. The deceased wanted to clean the slate for everyone and take the blow for everyone before he killed himself. He felt betrayed but he didn’t hate anyone in the end. He took the bullet for everyone. NCR was never under duress and PJG was never violent as suggested by the defence. He may have waved a knife, but it was just for dramatic show, never any intent as suggested to hurt anyone. He had been bashed by a gang of dark-skinned men a few years back so do you blame him for carrying self protection. Who doesn’t these days. There are a lot of lunatics out there. NCR was the initator of what happened and was never under any duress or threat of harm or death at any stage. That is a blatant lie. She was a voluntary participant and the mastermind behind the whole ordeal. She betrayed and then was betrayed by the man she eventually assaulted.

I’d like to see a guy get close enough to me to ass rape me. It’s not going to happen. I don’t put myself in those situations. I make sure of my surroundings at all times and if I’m around guys in a drunken environment (usually the only time I’m around guys in a none work environment) I’m not alone. In this situation, people appear to be trying to make a lot of the ‘kink’ factor.
