Mark Dixie
This is 37-year-old homeless chef, Mark Dixie, whose picture was a little hard to find.
Aside from his culinary skills at creating a truly tasty canape, Mark Dixie enjoys using drugs and sexually assaulting women in his spare time.
Mark Dixie has long record of sexual assault.
In 1988, when Mark Dixie was 17, a married mother of three kids knocked on his door on the 21st of June. This woman was friends with Mark’s girlfriend, and was just coming over to have a chat.
She didn’t expect to encounter Mark Dixie, alone, and in that mood. She really didn’t expect to have Mark Dixie punch her full-on in the face. She really, really didn’t expect Mark to walk towards her as she was struggling to her feet and say something like, “You’re going to have to help me. I need it. I need it!”
After a brief struggle the woman, who Mark Dixie had threatened to kill while grabbing her neck and lifting her skirt with his knee, managed to escape Mark’s clutches and call the police.
Mark was, understandably, arrested. The then-17-year-old pled guilty to a count of indecent assault and a count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on the 9th of August, 1988.
On the 21st of June, 1998, ten years after his first assault, Mark Dixie jumped through the window of a Thai student who was living in Perth, Australia at the time. Armed with a knife and with his identity disguised by a stocking over his face, Mark Dixie demanded that the woman take her top off before knocking her to the ground and stabbing her over and over and over again.
Due to the shock of being stabbed eight times and the resulting blood loss, the woman lost consciousness and couldn’t remember what happened after that…but her underwear had semen in it, and the DNA from the semen was collected and stored.
Flash forward to the 25th of September, 2005, when Mark Dixie was working as a chef in the Ye Old Six Bells in Surrey.
Through that Saturday afternoon and into that night, Mark Dixie and several of his friends were celebrating his 35th birthday by drinking and snorting cocaine. If there was a Korova Milkbar nearby, I’m sure they would have gone there too.
The night came to an end and all the friends crashed at about 2:30 in the morning, with Mark Dixie laying down on the couch to go to sleep.
At about 4 in the morning, model Sally Anne Bowman was dropped off in her neighborhood by her boyfriend. As you can see from the picture to the right, Sally Anne Bowman was really quite cute.
This neighborhood that Sally Anne Bowman lived in was just two streets over from the apartment that Mark Dixie was sleeping in.
Except he wasn’t sleeping. He went out. More on that later.
20 minutes after she was dropped off, neighbors heard screaming coming from the street. Nobody went out to see what was going on, of course, but they were sure that there was screaming.
Well, the screaming stopped and the neighbors went back to sleep.
At 6:30 in the morning, a neighbor found Sally Anne Bowman’s corpse, lying on the pavement.
She had been savagely attacked by someone with a knife, someone who was striking hard enough to ram the knife so far into her belly that the tip of it came out her back.
Forensic investigation found that someone had sex with Sally Anne Bowman as she was dying. Forensics also found DNA on several parts of Sally Anne’s body and a bloody fingerprint on her shoe.
Whoever had killed her had also bitten her, as there were savage bite marks on her cheek, neck and her right nipple.
Nine months later, while he was working at Ye Old Six Bells, Mark Dixie was arrested and brought in for questioning. Mark Dixie kind of flubbed things up when, after being told of the charge and asked if he had any medical conditions, he said: “I must be mental to do something like that, eh?”
Yeah.
Maybe a little bit, Mr. Dixie.
After a few delays, the trial of Mark Dixie started in February of 2008. Mr. Dixie had a lot of evidence to overcome, as it was his DNA that was found on Sally Anne Bowman’s body, it was his bloody fingerprint on her shoe, and it was his bite marks on her cheek, neck and right nipple.
Faced with all that evidence, Mark Dixie chose to go with this novel legal strategy, this well-thought out defense:
Yes, he admitted, I did have sex with that woman, as she was lying there, dead, on the street.
But he did not kill her!
Hopefully there aren’t enough people in Britain that are dumb enough to fall for that one.
Time will tell, however, as Mark Dixie’s trial rolls on.
Update:
Mark Dixie was found guilty of Sally Anne’s murder on the 22nd of February, 2008, and was sentenced to life in prison. The trial judge recommended that Mark Dixie should not be released for a minimum of 34 years, by which time he will 70 years old. This is among the longest minimum terms ever imposed upon a murderer with a single victim.
Following Mark Dixie’s conviction, Detective Superintendent Stuart Cundy, who had led the Bowman investigation, said:
It is my opinion that a national DNA register – with all its appropriate safeguards – could have identified Sally Anne’s murderer within 24 hours. Instead it took nearly nine months before Mark Dixie was identified, and almost two-and-a-half years for justice to be done.
The calls for a such a register were, however, turned down by ministers and other politicians who claimed that it would raise practical as well as civil liberties issues.
Everyone has a good point.

Mark Dixie is just strolling down the street one day, minding his own business, not a care in the world, when all of a sudden he looks down and sees this hot, dead chick!!! Oh, lucky day!!! And she’s still warm!!! Oh, lucky,lucky day!!! He decides to have sex with her. Heck, she won’t mind. She’s dead!!!!
I gotta be honest. I’m having a little trouble with this scenario.
Does he truly believe a defense like that is going to get him off the hook? Even if it is true, do we as a society want someone like that in our midst? At what point do we say enough is enough? Is he worthy of being considered human and being afforded the unalienable rights of being human?
I wish there were a way for the victims to speak, to share their thoughts.
I’ve not read of any random victims who deserved to die the way they, they certainly didn’t choose their fate.
The killers, however, have chosen their own fate and it should be reflected in their punishment. And it should be punishment – we’re not discussing rehabilitation here.
I feel so sad for the victims and their families. I hope they can find some peace.
As for the Mark Dixies of this world, I want nothing but pain and torment.

A lot of females these days that are models have to be SKINNY. Personally, I think it is disgusting. I use to be really really skinny and I didn’t really like it because everyone thought I was sick. So I gained a little bit of weight and I feel great!

I pity that poor man’s defense lawyer. Either the attorney is a complete moron or he’s got no defense and his client is refusing to take a plea and he’s doing the best he can with what he have — the end result is laughable, in a sick way.
Let’s just hope he gets put into prison and when others learn about his doings, he gets raped, beaten, or something.
It kind of scares me knowing some of this stuff. Sometimes I wonder if I should even walk outside or not. I don’t really have to worry about it though because I am in South Dakota. Usually it is pretty calm here and not much for murder or anything like that. But it also still scares me because I think about it while I am out walking my dog at night.

Yes, rapists will probably always want the rush of another rape.
And pedos will want to fuck another little kid.
And gay people might try straight sex, but always go back to same-sex.
What you forgot was that straight people will usually keep getting off on straight sex.
And in-between’s will probably keep going back and forth between straight and gay, or bi, or whatever they want to call it.
It is true that people generally keep doing the same things. But that’s true whether they’re rapists or gay people. Or straight people. Or people who like B/D or S/M, or bond with porn. Having one of the myriad of sexual preferences all people do is probably hardwired, but most people are able to keep it consentual and legal.
That’s the problem with abusive people, rapists and pedos. They can’t keep it consentual AND legal. And that’s a very different distinction.

As far as this poor victim, I think she was kind of a cute little thing. Maybe not superstar quality, but I think most people would consider her attractive. She does not look too ’skinny’ to me, ala an ‘Olsen twin skeletor’. She just looks small.
I know there are people who don’t feel well if they are slim. Good for them. There are also people like me, who do not feel well at all ‘with some extra meat on their bones’. The good thing is, regardless of what the media likes to tell everyone, there are so many people with so many different preferences, that almost anyone, no matter what their body type, can usually find someone who finds it attractive. I think it’s more about confidence than body specifics. The Olsen twins do not strike me as being confident at all.
I did kind of wonder what the heck the victim’s ‘body type’ had to do with this crime, though. It seems to me that often it appears that the majority of the ‘assault and murdered’ female victims are rather short, and slightly built. At the same time, info from rape victim survivors who do publicly identify themselves usually do not fit that profile.
I’m guessing that skinny, petite chicks do not have any more sex than more curvy chicks, and that skinny, petite chicks do not get raped any more often than curvy chicks. Or young chicks, or old women. Some of them physically are just more likely to be physically overpowered and killed during the process.
Just saying. Probably the healthiest thing you could do for your body and self-image is to stop paying attention to what the media tells you to think, believe, and spend your money on.
I personally do not like hard cut, buff, muscular bodies. I prefer solid, sturdy bodies. That look like they know how to enjoy some food, even though that is not my build. The great thing is that there’s a preference for everyone, if you’d stop listening to what you’re told you should like.

Brittany, I was not in any way trying to offend you or any one else, I know gays are not at all sex offenders(i know because my uncle is gay)… I was just using it as an example. I know from gay friends of mine (esp. guys) that they TRIED to like girls, they dated them, had sex with then, etc, but they could never shake the fact that they wanted a man… I was jus trying to point out that if someone has paticular things they like that they will always like it, no matter who tells them to think/feel differently..

There are a lot of things like this. Look at drug addicts who can’t get sober. Same thing with alcoholics. Gamblers, women who are constantly in abusive relationships and refuse to acknowledge red flags that they know will turn into patterns they had with their exes, yet still pursue that relationship. Maybe those are addictions but even when people tell them not to do it they still seem to do it.
