David Hwang, Sheila Sikat and Nora Contreras
This is 36-year-old David Shoutyh Hwang.
David Hwang used to work in the field of information technology. He also had a hobby.
With relatives in Laredo Texas, and after attending Texas A&M International University, where he reportedly studied business administration and marketing, David Hwang worked for a few companies before settling down in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Most recently David Hwang worked as a computer analyst for Pacific Life – an insurance company in Newport Beach.
Back in Laredo, David Hwang had a girlfriend, Nora Contreras, who is now 29. She lived with David Hwang and helped him with his hobby.
This is 28-year-old Sheila Sikat. She met David Hwang at Pacific Life, where she worked as an insurance representative, and married him in July of 2003.
Sheila Sikat feels really, really bad about David Hwang’s hobby.
You can tell she feels really bad, because in a statement she made in court on the 22nd of February, 2008, Sheila Sikat said:
I’m sorry for all the things that you saw on those videos and I’m not going to make excuses. I’m at complete fault … and I do deserve to go to prison. It was my fault and my fault only. Love is about protection. I failed to protect my niece.
Yes. Yes you did.
Back on the 3rd of September, 2003, while David Hwang and Sheila Sikat were living in their nice house in Rancho Santa Margarita, their maid came across some rather…disturbing videotapes. These videotapes disturbed the maid so much that she made an anonymous phone call to the police.
The police, who love nothing more than coming across disturbing videotaped evidence, served a search warrant later that day.
The search of the home of David Hwang and Sheila Sikat resulted in the discovery of 212 videotapes that featured both David Hwang and Sheila Sikat having sex with children as young as 8 months old.
Many of the children in the videos appeared to be unconscious or drugged, although one tape featured one little girl who woke up during the middle of David Hwang’s hobby, started to cry, then began to scream in pain while trying to crawl off the bed.
The video camera caught the little girl falling off the bed, her clumsiness probably caused by the intense pain she was feeling due to David Hwang’s having sex with her.
David Hwang and Nora Contreras were both seen on other videotapes doing the same sort of thing.
David Hwand and Sheila Sikat were, of course, arrested, with charge after charge coming one after another as police and prosecutors watched the contents of what they called “The Chest of Horror.”
Other evidence collected by the Orange County Sheriffs included 9 computers and over 1.1 million sexual images – much of which was child pornography.
Interestingly enough, police may never have caught up with Nora Contreras if it wasn’t for Sheila Sikat.
Sheila called Nora after Sheila bonded out, telling Nora that the videotapes she had made with David Hwang had been taken by the Orange County Sheriffs and that it might be a good idea if Nora left Laredo and crossed the border into Mexico for a while.
David Hwang and Sheila Sikat never had children of their own. From January of 2001 until February of 2003, Sheila Sikat went to her own sister to “borrow” her 4-year-old niece for David to rape. That 4-year-old girl provided hours of entertainment for David Hwang, over 4 hours of which was recorded on videotape.
Apparently there was a regular method Sheila and David used to get access to children for a lengthy period of time. The pair would invite friends and family to leave their children with David and Sheila overnight, often telling the parents that babysitting helped David and Sheila learn parenting skills.
Parenting skills from Hell, maybe.
The children who were raped, being drugged and given video games and candy, never mentioned what happened to anyone who could do anything about it.
Until the maid cleaned something she shouldn’t have and the whole mess fell apart. If that hadn’t happened, it’s entirely likely that you wouldn’t be reading about David Hwang, Sheila Sikat and Nora Contreras right now. They’d be off making some more child porn.
But they were caught, thank god.
Originally David Hwang pled not guilty, but when faced with the insurmountable video evidence in the prosecutors’ possession, changed his mind and cut a deal. In October of 2006, David Hwang was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
Sheila Sikat refused to cut a deal, went to trial and was found guilty in December of 2007 of 55 charges. Those charges included six counts of penetration with a foreign object of a minor under 14 years old, 13 counts of lewd acts upon a child, 10 counts of oral copulation, five counts of using a minor for sex acts and one count of sodomy.
Sheila Sikat was sentenced on the 6th of March, 2008 to 50 years in prison. She will be at least 66 years old before she’s eligible for parole.
Nora Contreras took a plea and pled guilty to four counts of aggravated sexual assault, after being charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault, four counts of indecency with a child by contact and four counts of indecency with a child by exposure. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

I have found it strange, after the last 10-20 years, how sexuality has changed. How porn or erotica has multiplied by the thousands. How they’ve promoted offending every healthy boundary.
It has bothered me a lot lately that the ‘standard’ attractive feature for men is that women have no punic hair in porn. Fine line between legal, adult sex, and illegal pedo sex. How much more preteen can you get than to have no pubic hair? How much of a temptation is it to go from a 25 year old porn star with no pubic hair, to being attracted to preteens who have no pubic hair?

For a normal guy with healthy sexuality? It isn’t a temptation at all, because a normal man is attracted to females who are sexually mature. I’m 29 and I hate not shaving because I find it unhygienic and it makes certain bedroom activities less pleasant for both my boyfriend and I – and our preference isn’t in any form of “gateway preference” that will lead us down the path the kiddie porn.
I’d have to agree with Mia. There is nothing sexually attractive about a little girl. My daughter (8 y.o.) has friends over frequently and I don’t feel any attraction towards any of them. I can’t imagine why anybody would want to touch them or hurt them. Their beauty and innocence is their charm. I love being around them, their point of view, their ideas – why in the hell would anybody take that?

I guess what I find particularly disturbing about these 3 is the deliberate nature of the way the crimes were carried out and the fact that there was more than one person involved.
All pedophiles are sick and deserve the worst hell money can buy, but the careful planning and the involvment of 3 people, when at least 1 should have said ‘no’ and reported to the authorities, multiplies the magnitude of their heinousness.

THIS is exactly why we need the DEATH PENALTY. Confirmed child rapists (videotape is pretty confirming) should be summarily executed with no appeals. I knew both of these people through work. David was narcissistic. Always too well groomed and physically fit (brings to mind “American Psycho”). Although I do believe Sheila deserves blame, David was a very controlling person and may have been very Rasputin like in the relationship. I think Sheila was 18 when she started dating him and it was her only serious relationship. Sheila & Nora were both tiny women (5ft tall), and David found two similar women that were very easily controlled. I had also heard that there was video of him sexually torturing another woman.
