This is 35-year-old Michelle Riley.
Michelle Riley worked for West Central Illinois Center for Independent Living, an organization funded by state and federal grants. Michelle Riley was collecting a nice paycheck to care for people staying with her who had developmental disabilities.
Michelle Riley has quite the history. Arrested for drug crimes, assault and other petty crimes, Michelle Riley is a longtime drug user who sells drugs in order to finance her own drug use. Prescribed drugs for certain “mental issues,” Michelle Riley doesn’t really like taking the legally prescribed drugs because they make her gain weight.
She really liked collecting social security checks of people she was supposed to be caring for, though, and she had no problem manipulating people into torturing and killing pregnant, developmentally disabled people.
In what could be considered something of an understatement, Michelle Riley’s sister, 30-year-old Tynisa Nebe has told the press:
Michelle has never been a stable person. I knew something was wrong with her, but I never thought in a million years she’d do something like this.
Well, Michelle Riley did do something like that. By all accounts, she manipulated 43-year-old Judy Woods, 18-year-old Michael Elliot, 16-year-old Benny Lee Wilson and 15-year-old Leshelle McBride (along with a 12-year-old son of Riley’s) into torturing 6-month-pregnant 29-year-old Dorothy Dixon over a period of two months – torture which resulted in Dorothy’s death.
After being discovered in her apartment on the 31st of January, 2008, Dorothy Dixon’s body showed evidence that the woman had obviously been abused. An autopsy revealed that Dorothy had been repeatedly shot with a BB gun, had been scalded several times with a hot liquid and had been severely beaten – with injuries to her head and her body.
The day after Dorothy’s body was found, Judy Woods was arrested for murder.
The investigation continued, however, and a grand jury eventually indicted all six inhabitants of the house, along with that 12-year-old son of Michelle Riley’s, who will face juvenile charges.
Two family members of Michelle Riley are throwing her under the bus, going on record as stating Michelle Riley ran her household like a drill instructor – controlling everyone around her with an iron fist, using baby monitors scattered throughout the house to keep track of everything that was said or done.
Tynisa Nebe was quite willing to state that her sister was more interested in getting drugs than parenting.
Pamela Hodge, who happens to be both Riley’s mother-in-law and the grandmother of the 12-year-old boy who is being charged, told the press that her grandson is innocent and was scared of Riley.
She’s not a mother. I don’t know what to call her. But it’s not those kids’ fault.
According to Michelle Riley’s 27-year-old neighbor, Terri Brandt, screaming could often be heard from the Riley house.
Terri Brandt also stated that she has seen Michelle Riley force Dorothy Dixon to run around naked as a punishment for misbehaving, and that Riley would often pour boiling water onto Dorothy, or use a hot glue gun on the pregnant woman.
Apparently, Michelle Riley enjoyed being the center of attention, forcing the other people who lived in the house to make sure her bath water was just the right temperature, to lay her clothes out in the morning before Riley woke up, and to rub Michelle Riley’s feet until she fell asleep at night.
Terri Brandt, who is now Benny Wilson’s legal guardian, also believes that Michelle Riley forced Judy Woods to take the blame for Dorothy’s torture and the resulting death of both Dorothy and her unborn child. According to Terri Brandt:
Judy didn’t have a mean bone in her body. Michelle made her take the blame for Dorothy’s death.
Maybe. Maybe not.
Dorothy’s 1-year-old baby also showed evidence of being abused. Not to death, fortunately.
There was considerable evidence that things were slightly out of control in the household.
The day after Judy Woods was arrested, everyone else moved out. Steve Atkins, the landlord of the property, had the joyous task of cleaning up the house for the next tenant. According to Steve Atkins, he found a bucket of feces in Dorothy Dixon’s room, along with a large number of BB’s. Dorothy Dixon’s room also had a waist-high door installed, which was nailed shut from inside the room. There was blood smeared over several walls, the washer and dryer, and in the basement shower near Dorothy Dixon’s room.
Michelle Riley, Judy Woods, Michael Elliot, Benny Lee Wilson and LeShelle McBride all face charges of first-degree murder, intentional homicide of an unborn child, heinous battery, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint.
LeShelle McBride and Benny Wilson are being charged as adults.
So, who deserves Hell? Michelle Riley alone, or are the others responsible as well?

The pictures say it all – TRASH.
While I generally do not like to blame the victim, the fact that Dorthy got involved with and stayed with such trash IS her fault; her death is the fault of those who chose to kill her. Michelle could ask, demand or coerce the other adults, but ultamately she could not make them kill or torture – that was their choice.
Put these POS in the house & burn it.
It would make taxpayers happy and most likely the landlord.
I don’t think it is fair for you to say that it is Dorothy’s fault for getting involved with this crowd without knowing the full story which we don’t at this point. It says Michelle was paid to care for people with developmental disabilities, therefore Dorothy could have been one of those people that the Center for Independent Living placed in her care. If that is the case, Dorothy could have been sent there and was soon enough stuck in a horrible situation that she could not escape from, especially being outnumbered.
It was not Dorothy’s fault for getting involved with these people. I’ve been doing some research into this case and reports show that Dorothy had the mind of a child, and she was left in the care of this woman and she was obviously, easily taken advantage of. She was receiving government assistance checks for her disabilities. It doesn’t state anywhere, that she had any family, but it’s a shame that no one stopped this. There are witness accounts of how she was being treated and abused, but no one tried to help her.
Her death and murder are on Michelle Riley and those involved in the abuse and also on those who saw what was going on, but did not stand up to Riley. Humanity failed Dorothy, her one-year old son, and her unborn child.
i voted Michelle only because the details are still too scetchy. for me it’s clear Michelle is guilty, the rest will have to be proven in the court.
Sounds like most of not all of the adults living there aside from Michelle are likely either DD or ED and just part her cash cow “Developmentally Disabled for Drugs” program. She should burn. The rest are probably screwed up for life.

I agree totally. I have read several versions of this story and have yet to find anything that says that the program that provided assistance for the DEVELOPMENTALY DISABLED gave them ANY kind of monitoring once in a home. The “system” fails continously because people are paid well to take care of those that other people conisder a burden. Whether it’s children in foster homes or adults with disabilities. If they were able to take care of themselves then they wouldn’t be in a program like this to begin with. This is a house full of insane, demented, ruthless people, and the state definitely contributed to the circumstances behind this woman’s death.
I vote all of them. But I read somewhere that Judy Woods was also developmentally challenged, so she may be excused from hell depending on that.
I also want to know what the deal is with that neighbor, Terri Brandt. She says she actually saw the abuse happening, so what did she do about it? If she saw someone getting intentionally scalded and tortured and didn’t call the police, then she is also guilty.
I live in the same town, and its hard to believe that they just kept torturing her for so long. They knew they would have to kill her, so that she wouldnt tell on them. They all deserve life in prison.

I just read this article for the 1st time and am in shock. One of my first thoughts were why isnt this neighbor being held also. Her and the boy shes guardian of may go out and find their own victim now,
umm where all they all being held at? i tried to look michelle up on the illinois department of corrections website but cannot seem to find any of the adults involved. i understand the minors will not be on there. and who was the father of her unborn child? does anyone know?
I know where Michelle Riley is being held at, She is in Alton, Il. at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Michelle should be going to trial at the end of July. The fathers name is being withheld for the childs safety, he now has full parental rights of the child, and are now living in Quincy, Illinois. The child is now at the weight that he is supposed to be. He misses his mother. R.I.P. Dorothy. Love you, and miss you lots!!!!
everyone that had a part in the crime should be punished the way they killed if that would happen people would think twice before committing a crime why was this woman allowed to have kids and keep her child when her mind was a 5 yr old and why the hell was someone who had a past drug problem working in a place with mentally challenge people she should not have been working around them to begin with and if they will let her collect the check why is there no one to check to make sure she is taking care of the person she is getting the money for and now there is her baby that the state will be taking care the same stupied state that failed to take care of her how sad is this hope they all die a horrible death for what they did too bad they are not in texas we like to kill criminals in texas maybe this state needs to wake up hope they all find someone to make them pay for this in prison hope they all get a real mean roomy in prison but they willl probably not even end up in regular population like they should

Michelle mcbride was unwed when she had daughter leshelle Mcbride. Michelle got married and took on the last name Riley. Michelle is half white and half black. The Michelle i knew growing up does not sound like the same person. Leschelle was only 15 when this happened and the son 12. Cmon those kids she not be convicted of any crimes. minors? really? I can see anyone over 18. And even the neighbor. The kids need counsiling. Stability and Love.

Sorry, but minors or not, they should rot in jail, and then hell, along with their mommy. Twelve and fifteen are certainly mature enough to not only have a moral compass, but to follow it. Not only did they chose not to alert anyone to what was going on, they chose to actually join in the abuse. Fuck them both.

Woods, and Elliot are currently awaiting trial.
Are you sure Elliot is still awaiting trial? I thought he pled guilty to 2nd degree murder and was getting out in November 2011. Maybe I am wrong.
I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you was’nt there you have no idea what happend…everything else is just speculation.And still to this day i will say this…the truth has yet to come out but now that i am released from prison it’s only a matter of time.

It is seriously trashy. My daughters have “unique first names” for Americans. My oldest has a somewhat common Arabic name, and my youngest got her name from a Norse goddess, but it is still somewhat common in Nordic countries.

I was in county jail with Judy Woods and on the same cell block. She would readily admit that she did bring harm to the victim but only because Michelle would make her. She told me that she shot her with the BB gun. I do not know why Judy did not get locked up for years like the rest. It just doesn’t seem right, she could have left that house at any time and got that woman help. Judy was overweight but well minded and physically able to walk. I guess that I am the type of person that if I seen stuff like that going on 911 would be my VERY first call.
