Unfortunately, the courts and prosecuting attorneys do not waste their time with animal cruelty cases very often. They prefer to concentrate on really "evil" offenders instead. My ex-husband killed 6 cats one day while I was gone, and while he was watching our kids. They were (1) my cat, Callie, who only had 1 eye, (2) my oldest boy's cat, Queenie, (3) my middle boy's cat, Silverbolt, who only had one eye, (4) my youngest son's cat, Baby, (5) a sick cat I was caring for, and (6) a kitten we had taken in. He was mad at me and decided "we have too many cats" and decided it was a good time to do something about it - since I was gone and could not stop him. When I came home and found out what had happened while I was gone, I called the cops and had him arrested. David Y'Barbo, Lumberton, Texas. 6 counts of animal cruelty, each carrying a fine of up to $500.00 and up to 2 years in jail. Although he confessed - to EVERYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN and to people who did not want to know - the prosecuting attorney eventually dropped the charges because no one could PROVE that he killed the 6 cats because he would not tell anyone WHERE THE BODIES WERE!!! Does he deserve Hell? I think so. Will Daniel Collins ever see a day in jail or be stopped from further damaging his kids? I doubt it.

Like LilMissSunshine above me, I too am a devoted cat lover. I care for a local feral cat colony and share my home with 10 adopted felines. I love cats more than I love the majority of adult humans. This piece of trash deserves be tied up naked, have tuna and catnip smeared on his skin and then set in the middle of a feral cat colony. They're not as gentle as his murder victim was! And then, he should be forced to clean out the litter boxes of everyone in his city for the rest of his life. A timely death is too good for a man like that. And, instead of hell, he deserves reincarnation for the rest of eternity--as a lizard or bug that keeps getting eaten by a cat. (Since that wasn't an option, I voted "Yes" for hell.)

In addition to cats, I also love children. To force a child to do such a heinous act is a serious form of abuse. I can only imagine what is going through that poor little girl's mind:( And her brother--he tried so hard to save the cat, only to be forced to dispose of its body. No child should have to go through these things. The therapy for those kids will be long and expensive. I hope they never have to see that vile piece of trash ever again. I hope their grandparents give them a good home and all the love they need to overcome this ordeal. I hope they have many more cats in their lifetime that live happy, contented lives.

I am an adament cat lover and when I heard this story a few days ago I flipped out!! I wish I could meet this piece of shit face to face so I can give him a stabbing lesson... I would sooo go Lorena Bobbitt on his sorry ass... This country needs to make the animal cruelty laws more strict and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law... don't our dumass politicians know that the first sign of a sociopath is that they hurt small animals?? I vote YES 1,000 for this POS to go to hell, I wish I could send him there myself...

Great. Maybe he can write a book in prison called "How to Home-Grow Your Own Serial Killers". At least the kids resisted. If he'd managed to get them to the point where they thought it was fun, they'd probably be ruined for life.

Oh, now I'm confused. If the children were dropped off, does that mean the cat was the POS's cat?

I'm glad this POS is getting his hands slapped a little. Wish I had faith the punishment would even be that harsh. This loser needs to have his parental rights permanently removed. If he could do this to his own cat, what's he going to do to his kids when he gets even drunker?

I'm having a hard time understanding the logistics. Did the grandparents not notice that said POS was drunk when they dropped the children off?

I notice there's no mention of the children's mother. Anyone want to take a guess on the twisty dynamics of these children's 'family'?

Sad.
