Before the night of the 1st of March, 2008 the Caffey family consisted of the 37-year-old mother Penny, Terry – the 41-year-old father, 16-year-old Erin, 13-year-old Matthew and 8-year-old Tyler.
Now, because of Erin Caffey and her boyfriend, Charlie James Wilkinson, the only member of the family still alive is Erin’s father and Erin herself.
The teenage years of a child often strike fear into the hearts of parents. Your son or daughter, that precious little person who used to worship the ground you walked on – suddenly they don’t want to be seen within a mile of you, argue with everything you say and do different things to act out and rebel against your rules. They might hang out with friends and date people you don’t approve of.
For the most part, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Usually, teenagers go through a tough patch, but realize in the end that they love and respect you, and that everything you did to restrict them was for their own good, despite how annoying it was at the time.
Sixteen year old Erin Caffey will not be among those teenagers.
Erin had recently started dating a nineteen year old named Charlie James Wilkinson. Classmates and friends said Erin Caffey and Charlie Wilkinson were inseparable and would hold hands everywhere, that they were a modern day Romeo and Juliet.
For some strange reason, Erin’s parents Penny and Terry Caffey didn’t approve of Charlie. Maybe it was due to a glance at his MySpace page, or his attitude or his clothes. Whatever the reasons, Penny and Terry Caffey made it clear to Erin Caffey that she wouldn’t be allowed to date Charlie.
Erin however, decided that her parents weren’t going to stop her from being with her man, the love of her life. While Romeo and Juliet killed themselves to be together, Charlie Wilkinson and Erin Caffey went the other way – deciding to kill her family instead.
They enlisted the help of two accomplices. 20-year-old Charles Allen Waid, who has himself listed as a true rebel on his MySpace page and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Bobbi Gale Johnson, whose MySpace has since been deleted but still has a YouTube profile for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
Bobbi Gale Johnson had this to say on her now defunct MySpace:
I thought that i was a good person and that i was fun to be around …but obviously im not….and one day i hope these ppl grow hearts as big as mine and realize that they were assholes to me … but you know how heartless ppl are…

On the night of the 1st of March, 2008, after a month or so of planning, Erin and her friends showed the world just how heartless (and brainless) their generation has become.
Their first attempt to get into the house was stopped by the barking of the family dog. This was just a brief setback, and Erin Caffey told everyone to come back in an hour when she had the dog calmed down.
When everyone came back, Erin Caffey waited in the car while Charlie Wilkinson, Charles Waid and Bobbi Johnson went into the house. Some accounts report that Bobbi Johnson stayed in the car with Erin Caffey, other say she went into the house. In the car, in the house, either way some killing went on that night.
Charlie Wilkinson, Charles Waid headed into the master bedroom where they shot and stabbed Erin’s mother and father a number of times while they were in their bed.
The noise woke up Matthew and Tyler Caffey, Erin’s brothers. Charlie Wilkinson told the two to go back to their room, a command that the boys obeyed until Charlie Wilkinson and Charles Waid went into their room for the boy’s taste of carnage.
It’s not clear whether or not Bobbi Johnson held Tyler down as he was being stabbed, but the 8-year-old was stabbed by one of the two Charlies. Matt was shot in the head.
Thinking the killings were done, everyone left after setting the house on fire in an attempt at covering up the physical evidence.
Terry Caffey wasn’t quite dead, however. As his house burned to the ground around the bodies of his family, he climbed out a bathroom window. With five gunshot wounds, including one to his head, he crawled over 300 yards to a neighbor’s house. Terry Caffey arrived at the neighbor’s house at around 4:15 in the morning, and 911 was called right away.
If you think it couldn’t get any worse, you’d be wrong. Autopsies done on the family revealed they were all still ALIVE when the house burned to the ground. One can only imagine what their final thoughts were as they lay dying from their wounds waiting to be consumed by flames.
After the murders, Charlie Wilkinson and Erin Caffey were dropped off at Charlie’s place where they proceeded to have sex. After all, there’s nothing that puts you in the mood more than killing your family.
The police arrived at Charlie Wilkinson’s place that morning and woke the lovebirds up to slap the handcuffs on.
According to police, Charles, Charlie and Bobbi have all confessed to their roles in the murders. Erin has told police the only thing she remembers from that night is the fire that consumed her house.
Terry Caffy has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his wounds with the family dog, the only other survivor of the carnage that night. It’s safe to say he’ll remember a lot more of that horrible night then his daughter will admit to.
Meanwhile, Erin Caffey awaits certification to stand trial as an adult, where the harshest sentence she can receive is life in prison as she is too young to face the death penalty. Her three accomplices are all eighteen or older, however, which means they all can get a date with the needle. While the lovers will never be able to see each other again in this lifetime with the exception of a glance or two in a courtroom, they can look forward to the time they’ll be spending in Hell together.
It can’t come soon enough.

When I was a kid and parents didn’t want you to be with a person we would RUN AWAY!! Sometimes it worked and sometimes kids got caught but it was rare for someone to DIE.

Sounds like what happened here in Cheshire CT with a Romeo and Juliet twist.
In both crimes the criminals left the victims to die in the fires – not even caring enough to put the victims out of their misery.
All the perps in both crimes should be sent to hell A.S.A.P., but instead these perps will get the best lawyers and doctors at our expense while our troops will have to work with outdated and obsolete technologies!
At least in “Natural Born Killers” the sibling (little brother) was allowed to live. Those children died by the “hands” of their own sister’s selfishness and inherent evil. By no means is any of this about “love”, but love of hatred. They are all young enough to have time to repent, so although we agree they deserve hell now, we may not get our wish.

Erin Caffey must have some bomb head and good pu**y for that guy to be so hooked. I think he had a foot fetish too as you can see her put her foot near his junk on his myspace webpage. He didn’t want the sex to stop – but with the family dead – she can never give him footjobs again. Sad.
CDR-I think how this happens is through lack of consequences. True, for many of us, if we had killed our parents every time we were ticked off they would be dead several times. Why didn’t we? Because we were used to having consequences for our actions. Every time we cried someone didn’t rush to fix it (please understand I am NOT saying do not respond to a crying child). Take the example of some of these kids that kill their parents, teachers, etc. What do most of them say in some way after, “They p****d me off.” Why is it that so many kids are growing up thinking that they are the center of the universe? Because no one contradicts the idea. There is loads of research about the increasing numbers of sociopaths. It is estimated that 1 in 11 are sociopathic to some degree. Does that mean all sociopaths are killers? No. But as long as society and parents continue to reward selfish behavior (and remember, not curbing it is almost the same as rewarding it), more sociopaths develop and some just can’t stand to not have things in life go their way.
I didn’t kill my parents, because despite being angry a few times, I still loved them. Human beings protect other human beings, they don’t kill them.
I never understand hurting your parents… I am not a parent yet, and hopefully I won’t for a while but I do have a mother and father… I love my mom with all my heart and even after all the stuff we been through (a lot!!) I would have never even laid a hand on her… even my father, who I can honestly do without (sorry if i sound messed up) I would never hurt….. people like this make me sick, your parents bring you into this world and support you (food, clothes, house) and this ugly girl repays them by killing them all,…. Well, I live in Denmark. Here homeschooling is seldom and that is one of the reasons why killings of a family to one of the youngsters is seldom. (I can not remember a single case during the last 40 years.)
Of course teens then have sex, they drink etc. but parents expect it and therefore they can speak openly about it. Every kid 16 and above can buy alcohol in our shops, so there is no reason to consult a criminal source which also sells drugs.
Loosen up and allow kids to date. Yes they will also have sex, but if the subject is accepted to talk about in the homes, the kids remember to protect themselves.
Our strategy works so well that the average age of a mom giving birth to her FIRST child is 29.1 year (2006).
This case is very tragic and her life (Erin) is over before it did start.
I applaud your system and people, but want you to carefully consider the real causes before you jump to these conclusions. American “prudery” comes from our very long history. Not as long as Denmark’s so perhaps we can explore a few key pieces right here.
The puritans lasted long enough to burn a few witches and help write the legal documents that form the core of most of our state constitutions. The puritans took being “Elect” from a Calvinist stance to an extremist’s cant. The eventual failure of Oliver Cromwell’s puritanical dictatorship of England and the British Isles were viewed with a different bend than that of Europe as a whole. Denmark had drunk nobles running around being decent and not so decent gentlemen at the same time that the puritans tried to make alcohol illegal in New England. Our history is rife with religious fundamentalism because Europe dumped the dregs of it here. The US thus became the equivalent of the Warren Jeffs’ compound of the colonial era and enlightenment.
Weird batty religions have been born here, grown up here and sometimes, thankfully died here. The laws were written well enough that while we could keep them from doing stupid things to their kids most of the time, we couldn’t keep them from teaching their kids about their crazy ideas about what God expected of them.
Throwing a magic switch and banning home-schooling or giving kids a longer leash won’t magically fix the kids or the parents here. Because of the democratic process, we wouldn’t want to establish any ideas where the sometimes majority fundamentalist nutjobs could try to use such brutal measures to force their religion on the non-fundamentalist nutjobs (people like me).
On top of that, the US has an average population density of 31 people per kilometer, and Denmark has 128 people per kilometer. If people want to go train their kids to be nutjobs, they scrape some cash together, buy a few thousand acres in the middle of nowhere, and have themselves a party with a few goats and cattle along for the ride. Your laws and even your social ethic are bent around, be a good citizen and try not to step on your neighbor, our American tradition is “leave me alone,” “don’t tread on me,” and “they seemed like nice people from across the fence.”
In closing, I know it seems hypocritical from our foreign policy to think that we’re somehow focused on making the rest of the world mor elike us, but we’re not even like us. The United States is full of heathens, heretics, zealots, ministers, farmers, scientists, hermits, mystics, crazy people, and a host of other archetypes that form a loose blanket of patriotism under our flag and common heritage elements, but we are not one analogous people enough to apply the same rules to.
You can’t let the rednecks (I came from the same stock so I can say that) from my home town in the mountains of North Carolina have access to alcohol at age 16. My uncle rightly says that the only two things more dangerous to a redneck than bullets are gasoline and alcohol, usually the last two in some way entwined. Give a drinking age of 16 to that crowd and it’s like opening the flood gates to a blood bath. That said, some of the kids on the streets of New York City could be trusted with alcohol as early as age 14, because a, they couldn’t buy enough to cause trouble and b they have far scarier stuff to use than alcohol.
From the outside looking in, you may think the problems of the United States are easy: Stop being selfish pricks and settle down, but if you haven’t had to travel to at least 16 different states, then you haven’t gotten a real pulse on this place. We’re at least 50 countries worth of crazy smashed together with the same anthem. Take your craziest elements and imagine a geometric expansion of variation on the same detrimental theme and you have the United States.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my country, but I also see it for its weaknesses to. You see only one weakness and make a fairly educated, but too broad of scope suggestion for a problem that’s a whole lot more walking than we can functionally achieve.
Hope this wasn’t too far of a ramble, but i think you can see there’s more to this than just changing the drinking age and sending everyone to public school by force.
Some people seem to want to blame home schooling. That is not the culprit here. Remember, this tragedy happened after Erin entered public school. Perhaps in some way it facilitated her plans to have the freedom given to high school students. I work in a public school. Believe me, I know that sending a child there is like putting them in a pit of vipers. Students are caught performing sex acts even in some classes. So, please don’t blame home schooling. Perversion is everywhere.

Don’t get me wrong, sex is wonderful in the right forum but I can honestly say that I have never needed it enough to kill someone. She was positively selfish. I don’t see how she could honestly see how her brothers had done her any harm.
I saw some people on here blaming home schooling but I believe that has nothing to do wtih it. For hundreds of years children were home schooled or just worked at home and they weren’t killing their parents. This is a simple case of demention.

i cant help to think how strange this story sounded to me when i read it, i believe the father had something to do with this , he forgave her sooo soon and then he remarries wihin 8 months!!! to someone he already knew of course. i thought this was a traumatic experience! then if u look into this further, the mans family hasnt really been chaged he still has his 2 sons (stepsons) new wife and daughter(even though she is in jail) … why kill the kids if u just want to be with the girl, the kids werent a threat, i think there is more to this story and it will come out, if im wrong then im wrong, but i do pray for this family and everyone who was affected by this sensless malicious crime!

And even if Bobbi did not go into the house, does this make her any less an affiliate? She was there. She drove, you say. Did she run for help when they were in the house? Did she pick up her cellphone and dial 911? Did she do anything AT ALL to help the victims?

Does not matter if she did not go in the house or participate in the actual murder, she is just as guilty of murder by her driving the car. She had the opportunity to get help knowing what was taking place and did not make any attempt to get help. She is just as guilty as if she had held the knife in her hand morally and legally

I think this is one of the most messed up cases I have ever heard about. I am 18 and i would never ever in a million years think about killing my family including my little brother because of some guy. obviously she alot of mental problems that the parents may have contributed to. I watched the case on the tv show i survived and the father has forgiven his daughter and refuses to believe she was the mastermind behind the murders. Its ridiculous to believe that she acted out so violently beacuse of her friends after all isnt there this thing called free will? She and Her accomplises will obviously make it to hell. To bad its not gonna be sooner rather than later costing tax payers money for these psycos to sit in prison.
