Katreice Trujillo had given her 3-month-old baby methamphetamine, and not by some inadvertent exposure through breast milk, because Ms. Trujillo wasn’t breast-feeding.
Oh joy.
After treating the baby’s symptoms, which included bleeding from his stomach, Isaiah Kammann was whisked away into protective custody by child services. His brother, Jonathan, was taken from Katreice Trujillo’s care as well.
Katreice Trujillo was arrested on the 2nd of April, 2008, and charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

A Denver County Court judge reduced bail for a woman accused of giving her baby methamphetamine, despite a prosecutor’s objections that she might run off with the child.
Judge Mary Celeste reduced bail for 27-year-old Katreice Trujillo from $50,000 to $15,000.
Trujillo’s public defender, Sarah Welton, told the judge that the probation department recommended that Trujillo be released from custody. She doesn’t pose a flight risk, Welton said.
But Denver Deputy District Attorney Landon Reed said that since 2001, Trujillo has failed to appear in court on a traffic violation and other minor matters. Reed said he was concerned that she might flee the serious charges she now faces and “take the child as well.”
Her baby is being cared for by Denver’s Human Services Department.
Vickie Baylon, Trujillo’s mother, told the judge that the department will permit her daughter to visit the child for one hour a week under the supervision of a social worker if the judge approves. “She is going to be fighting to get him back,” Baylon said.
After the hearing, Vickie Baylon told a reporter that her daughter is not guilty.

She had a daughter who was mentally slow due to her incessant use of pain killers and other narcotic prescription drugs while she was pregnant. She got kicked out of the air force, and moved back home to Arkansas where she proceeded to feed her darvon, oxycodone and methadone to make her calm down and get to sleep. When my daughter was a baby I found formula to be cheaper than meth, so my baby got formula. Maybe I am a bad parent because I am so cheap – and lazy so many places had formula and they were open 12 to 16 hours a day (some places were open 24 hours)
