  • Brenda Thiel

Brenda Thiel MugshotWell it looks like 27-year-old Brenda Thiel found religion.

Brenda Thiel, who was living with her mother, her two-year-old son Caleb and her 8-year-old daughter in a small two-story home in Neenah, Wisconsin, recently joined Christ The Rock Community Church in the nearby town of Harrison.

According to Kathy Mulvey, a neighbor of Brenda Thiel, Brenda was very happy with her new church.

She said it was the best thing that ever happened to her.

While joining this new church might have been the best thing that every happened to Brenda Thiel, it certainly wasn’t the best thing that every happened to little two-year-old Caleb Thiel, who was going to turn three in July.

After joining her new church, Brenda Thiel, who is described by a neighbors as a “very nice woman who sold Avon products,” started to read the Bible more often.

And, while there is nothing inherently wrong with reading the Bible, once you start hearing voices in your head you might want to slow it down a bit. Go see an R-rated movie. Go read some Harry Potter books. Possibly look into picking up a copy of Dawkins’ “The God Delusion.”

Brenda Thiel, however, did not slow down when she started to hear voices.

According to Brenda Thiel, on the 2nd of May, 2008, she had a dream about tornadoes. In that dream, Caleb was saying “Mama.”

While Brenda was sleeping, she thought she heard a voice say, “Little boy do the job” or something along those lines.

That’s a fairly ambiguous statement for anyone that would hear it. Really, God - or just the voices in her head - could have been telling her to just get the kid a job selling pancakes to lesbians. Or possibly the voices could have been telling her that Caleb needed to start making shoes, or selling lemonade, or just learning how to use the potty.

Caleb was only two, after all.

But Brenda Thiel didn’t think that what she heard was instructing her to do any of those, non-murderous things. No, Brenda Thiel felt that the voices meant for her to hurt Caleb.

Not that she really wanted to. She fought the urge, you see. She thought to herself, “No, you’re not going to do that.”

With that complicated mental exercise over, Brenda Thiel rolled over and went back to sleep. When Brenda woke up the next day, she felt better and everything was fine.

Brenda Thiel didn’t hear any more voices for a while.

    But.

On Sunday, the 4th of May, 2008, Brenda Thiel was reading the Bible again when she had what she describes as a “hot flash” and that tornado dream popped back into her head.

Brenda Thiel went to bed at about 9 at night, climbing into the bed where her son Caleb was already asleep. She fell asleep next to him. Caleb was still sleeping when Brenda woke up at about 5 in the morning on the 5th of May.

Out of the blue, Brenda Thiel put her hands over the face of her sleeping son and said to herself:

    This is the best.

While her son woke up, struggling to breathe, struggling to break away from his mother’s grip and struggling to pull some air into his lungs, Brenda Thiel kept her hands over her son’s face.

Caleb, probably with his eyes open, looking at his mother and feeling a desperate hope that mommy was going to make everything better, whimpered and died.

Once Caleb stopped breathing, Brenda Thiel put his head on a pillow, lay with him for 15 minutes and then went outside and smoked two cigarettes. Her nicotine fix sated, Brenda Thiel went back into her house and told her mother that she had just killed her son.

Brenda Thiel and her daughterBrenda’s mother immediately called police, who responded and found Brenda Thiel in the downstairs bathroom, kneeling on the floor with her hands on her face. For some reason, Brenda Thiel thought it was a good time to show the officers a scar that she said was from a recent suicide attempt and to let the officers know that she was on prescription anti-depressants. She also stated her reason for killing her son, who was still warm in the bedroom when officers arrived:

They told me to do it. I was told to give my only son. I suffocated him.

Caleb Thiel was taken to the local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. There were abrasions on his neck, a spot on his right eye and a scratch on his nose from his final encounter with his mother.

Brenda Thiel is expected to be charged with murder. As of the time of this writing, she was reportedly in a “secure location,” but not in the local jail.

In all likelihood, she has a Bible in her hand.

    Does Brenda Thiel deserve Hell?

If this story is true, it is another utter wacko using the bible to justify their insanity.

Sorry I do not have my Bible with me, so I can not do an exact quote of the verse nor do I know the specifics.
The Bible does state that we have an enemy, Satan - period.
The Bible does state that wierd thoughts will pop into our heads, but such does not abslove anyone from responsibility for acting upon such thought because the Bible states that we are to hold each thought captive and see if it is consistant with God’s word.
A decent Christain shojuld have enough of a working knowledge of God’s word such that one knows it’s OK to kill someone who is breaking into the house, while a 2 year old is not OK to kill.
If still confused, seek the counsil of peers. Unless one belongs to a wacked out cult, odds are that one or more of the peers will know enough that there is little to no grounds for killing a 2 year old child, despite what any instructional voices are saying.

So in short, the Bible is complete enough to know that people will hear voices or will recieve instruction from questionable sources. The Bible requires one to judge each thought against the standards contained within the Bible before taking action.
Of course one does not need to read the Bible when inside a burning building - God gave all of us enough common sense to seek an exit - although a quick prayer may help in said situation!

thus I feel that she deserves punishment. While I sin and fall short, we need to hold each other accountable.
She obviously did not follow the proper procedure.
She should not be able to use religion as a defense because she did not follow her religion 100%; the prosecutor should be able to use religion against her because she fell short in doing her Christain duty which was to question something that is so against common sense.

      Genesis 22
2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.”

      Exodus 32
27And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

The Bible is a weird place, and God often tells people to kill other people. If you are sick and you read the Bible you may believe God is telling you to things.

Imagine looking mommy in the eyes while she’s trying to kill you. It’s enough to shatter your heart.

Oh, this is for my wonderful mommy near Mother’s Day.

I wish I could tell you these things, but now, thanks to you, I am in a small coffin customized for someone my toddler size.

“Mommy I promise I’ll be a better two year old!”
“I won’t cry as often if that’s what got you vexed”
“Mommy I’ll try to ask for your attention a lot less as to refrain from disturbing you.”
“Mommy I am sorry day care is so expensive. Trust me, if I were older I’d look after myself.”

I believe in a Higher Power; I believe in God. Man is not the end all on top of it all authority that Darwin wants.
If everyone obeyed the 10 commandments, this world would be a different place. I’ve broken a few of the commandments myself and as a result my life will never reach its full potential.
Unfortuantely some churches seem to be a haven for wack jobs - weather as members or leaders. We can not throw out God because of them.
If we were to throw out everything that has a wacko on he inside, Hollywood should have sut down years ago. In first grade I repeatedly punched a teacher who physically abused me (not sexual). Should we shutdown the public schools?
Much good has been done in he name of God - churches, schools, hopspitals, missions, food pantries and other charities.
Wether you believe that God is real or not, God brings out the good in people; God makes people grow up.
If you think that peole are naturally good, put 2 2 year olds near eachother then put a few things that both like in between.
Is sharing instinctive? Or will we see one bully the resources?

      Just say “NO” to radicalism!
Jesus Christ, God himself, invites people to follow him; even God does not demand!
Jehovah Witneses are zelious, but not radical.
Flying planes into buildings because we are infadels - is a mark of a radical!
      Child killing - radical, looney…

While one is free to be whatever, do not demand that I like it. Be gay, just don’t expect me to be gay or like every aspect of your sexuality.

      “I miss you Mommy”

I remember the love we shared
When I was little you held me close
But all the while I was in your care
I’d never guessed you were a psycho

You comforted me when I cried
And you gave milk from your breast
I trusted you mommy, never did you lie
Inside your arms all my needs were addressed

I want to swim in that ocean with you
It was blissful and provided me great comfort
I miss you mommy Do you miss me too?
Mommy, ocean is gone an aridly dry desert

I’ll never have a wife, career and kids
You decided and took it all away
Mommy must not kill, the law forbids
The bond we made you betrayed

Now I’m a spirit watching and waiting
I’m happy with God can’t you tell?
Now I sit with heavenly host and I’m praying
For my mommy to go to hell

I miss you mommy and I dream I can see you at the gateway of hell.
Mommy, don’t disown me like Peter did three times.

      Love always,

      Caleb “Brave One” Thiel

Just another example of how dangerous it can be when you mix crazy people with religion. Unfortunately, it seems to be an especially bad combination for young children. My heart breaks a little bit more every time I hear about another little innocents being suffocated, or denied basic medical treatment in favor of prayer, or tossed in a bathtub full of scalding hot water.

      Damn….

Just from what I read on this site — I know nothing else about the case — I’m inclined to think this woman is mad rather than bad. Obviously she’s dangerous, and clearly it was horrible and wrong and incredibly tragic and her child did not deserve what happened to it. But I’m not convinced she’s on the level of, say, Richard Speck here, or that lady in Ohio who locked her foster kid in a closet for a week.

What kind of sick SOBs are you to even have a site like this. Wake up…hell doesn’t exist. And if it did I’d disown the god that created it. Brenda suffered from a mental illness as some of you do. No different than cancer or heart problems. Waste your time on eBay…not this shit.

ya know…you hear so much about anti depressants causing some horrible thoughts and people weak enough to act on them. How can you prescribe a drug that alters personality to someone that has issues with their mental faculties? It’s really a shame things like this happen, but really…where does the case of blame end? Surely it begins with this Brenda chick, but it just rolls downhill. No, don’t blame religion, faith had nothing to do with her state of mind, believe that.
