When you look at the extent of the damage that Starkeisha Brown and her girlfriend, Krystal Matthews, inflicted upon Starkeisha’s son, you’d think that they were enjoying it. After all, the injuries to the boy, who should have been entering kindergarten this year, were quite extensive and had been inflicted on the child over a lengthy period of time.
So what injuries did the two women inflict on the 5-year-old? Well, let’s see. According to police reports, Starkeisha Brown and Krystal Matthews regularly beat the living tar out of the boy. They would keep the child from eating or drinking, eating on front of the child and refusing to give him any of that ghetto goodness.
And of course, eating and drinking would have been difficult for the boy with that broken tooth in his mouth. The one with the nerve exposed. Exposed dental nerves typically makes bed-time brushing suck for kids.
Then, of course, Starkeisha Brown and Krystal Matthews would burn the kid all over his body with cigarettes, taking special care to stab the cancer sticks onto the boy’s genitals.
That hurts a lot, in case you were wondering. Like, very much “ouch.” And they did it several times.
Starkeisha Brown and Krystal Matthews capped off the abuse by holding Starkeisha’s son’s hands onto a hot stove, probably after cooking something and eating it in front of him. According to a news conference held on the 13th of June, 2008, Los Angeles Police Department Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell told the press that the burns to the kid’s hands were so extensive that the child could no longer open his hands.
So that’s pretty bad.
The boy was found by a stranger on the 9th of June, 2008. He had apparently been abandoned. The police were called immediately, who rushed the boy to the hospital. According to the press conference on Friday, Assistant Chief James McDonnell said:
I’ve never seen anyone with these kinds of injuries who has lived.
On that day, a Monday, Starkeisha Brown and Krystal Matthews had an appointment with the Department of Children and Family Services. They were supposed to bring Starkeisha’s son. They didn’t. They brought the child of someone they knew, who let them borrow her son, and tried to pass the kid off as Starkeisha’s.
Apparently this ruse did not work.
Starkeisha Brown turned herself in late at night on the 13th of June, 2008, after the press conference put her name and photo out into the public, along with an impassioned plea for people to help the police find her and bring her to justice. Starkeisha Brown has been charged with torture and will probably be hit with charges of willful harm or injury to a child as well.

I have not been able to look at my son (4) or daughter (7 mos.) with out thinking of this little boy. I fight back tears for him everyday. I pray that someone can just take him and love him. I am very sorry to say that I actually know Starkeisha Brown. I was present when she gave birth to her son which I dont know if I should say his name because police have disclosed it. I once dated Krystal Matthews when she was younger. As far as Krystal goes, I cant understand what would make her allow her “girlfriend” to do this to that baby, let alone participate in the activity(if she did). Now Starkeisha on the other hand has had alot of issues in the past. I saw them nomore then 6 months agowith the baby and he seemed fine, but looks are decieving. I am going to visit Krystal because I want to know what led them up to this point.
