Klara Mauerova Katerina Mauerova and Barbara Skrlova
This happy little family is that of 31-year-old Klara Mauerova and 34-year-old Barbara Skrlova.
Klara Mauerova and Barbara Skrlova are both totally sane. Absolutely. Completely.
They’re both members of a happy little cult called the Grail Movement.
The Grail Movement is an organization that started in Germany back in the late 1940’s. This German guy, Oskar Ernst Bernhardt, who preferred to be called Abd-ru-shin, wrote a book in 1926, called In the Light of Truth: The Grail Message. Apparently, a few people, who would otherwise get caught up in Amway, Scientology or Baptism really, really liked the ideas that this guy wrote about and started a happy little cult.

Odd, yes, but basically this isn’t any weirder than, say, people who believe in magic underwear.
Klara Mauerova had two children, 8-year-old Ondrej Mauer and 10-year-old Jakub Mauer.
For some reason, Klara Mauerova, her 34-year-old sister Katerina Mauerova, Barbara Skrlova and Barbara’s brother, Jan Skrla decided that Ondrej and Jakub were far too happy and normal. In order to rectify the situation, the adults in the household decided to torture the two children.
A lot.
Ondrej Mauer and his brother Jakub had been whipped with belts. They had cigarettes stubbed out on them. They had been dunked under water until they were on the verge of drowning. Ondrej and Jakub had been sexually abused and made to cut themselves with knives. They were forced to stand and sit in their own urine and feces for days in the dark while being kept in cages or handcuffed to tables.
Ondrej also had the pleasure of being skinned. His flesh, which was cut from him in strips, was either fed to the boy, or had been fed to the adults in the household. We’re not sure which, at this point. Either way, it’s kind of not nice, you know?
Once pieces of the boy had been carved from him, he had been gagged and tied and thrown into a room to sit for a while.
It muffles the screaming, you know.
And Klara Mauerova and Barbara Skrlova really would have gotten away with it all, at least for a while, if it wasn’t for the fact that a father in a house nearby wanted to keep better tabs on his baby and bought a video baby monitor. As those of you who have purchased and used baby monitors in the past know, sometimes signals from those monitors get mixed up. People can hear or see things from nearby baby monitors on their own. Heck, I’ve listened to entire conversations about consignment sales in the area because a neighbor left her baby monitor on. Exciting stuff.
Well, this father saw something on his baby monitor that he wasn’t really expecting. His monitor picked up the signal from the monitor that was broadcasting from the house of Klara Mauerova and Barbara Skrlova. His monitor picked up a strange signal. An extremely disturbing signal. When this man looked at his video monitor, he saw his neighbor’s then 7-year-old son, Ondrej Mauer, tied up, naked and bleeding in a dark closet.
That’s like something out of an excellent horror film. It is not what a father wants to see when he’s looking into his own baby monitor.
So he called the cops.
Police searched the Mauerova house on the 10th of May, 2007. When Katerina Mauerova and Klara Mauerova refused to open a locked door, it was broken down. Behind that door was Ondrej.
Ondrej Mauerova had been beaten, was dehydrated and in generally very poor health as a result of the abuse that he endured for what is believed to be about six months. There was a video monitor next to him that Klara Mauerova had used to watch the abuse from the kitchen. Ondrej’s brother Jakub was taken by authorities, along with 13-year-old Anna.

A few days later, Anna disappeared from her foster home. Everyone looked for Anna, who Klara Mauerova had legally adopted in March of 2007. She couldn’t be found, however, and authorities looked a little deeper into her history, which was a little…blank.
Authorities believe that when Klara Mauerova appealed to court for custody of Anna, whom Klara said had been abandoned by her own family, the daughter of a fellow cult member pretended to be the young girl.
The cult then gave the newly created identity of Anna to Barbara Skrlova – who looks like a 13-year-old girl – so she could be groomed for a leading role in the sect. Authorities believe that the cult wanted to turn the tiny girl into sort of an idol for them to worship.
After being released, Barbara Skrlova ran off to Norway for a while, at one point sending a 9-page letter to President Vaclav Klaus defending Klara Mauerova. In the end, however, Barbara Skrlova was found, arrested and brought back to face the music.
Klara Mauerova cried and cried during her trial. She admitted the torture of her son Ondrej and his ten year-old brother Jakub. Responsibility for the torture, however, according to Klara, did not rest on her. She had been manipulated by Barbara Skrlova and Katerina Mauerova into doing those horrible things to her children.
We can only hope that justice in the Czech Republic is swift and painful for everyone involved.

Anybody and everybody involved who did, allowed or watched deserves to burn. Once again everyone is going to say “religion”… BAD religion, NOT all religion.
People following other people, rather than discerning the word of God and applying some “common sense” to what they read and hear.

I agree Fred….The basic problem here isn’t religion per se. It’s actually a bad case of the original speedball (i.e. mixing crazy people with some hokey religion). In other words, it’s safer trying to find a propane leak in a doublewide basement with a lit match. The only major flaw in these Wonderful” new religions is the lack of auto-ejection seats for kids under 18. When we can auto-rescue our precious kids, then the idiot adults can be as stupid and insane as they wanna be. Hell, you can worship my pupic hairs, or even my almighty dick.
Any time you find that your official religious instruction manual starts off with things like talking snakes and supposed mythic creation stories, you should probably tread very, very carefully in assuming that your version of te truth is much different from another piece-o-crap. In other words, dummies, the basic problem here IS religion. If you really belive that god is talking to you, please check into the nearest mental health facility for everyone’s benefit.

Can you please get a better interpreteur? Nobody was eating the boy’s flesh. They cut him and tried to force the boy himself to eat it. Not the family. Please get your acts straight. They did very terrible things to them, but don’t add something that is not true. Also Ondrej’s surname is not Mauerova but Mauer, you put ova only in female’s surnames. For instance Anna Kournokova’s father’s surname is Kournik, not Kournikova

Admin, do you really care if their name is POS or POFS? Well, I don’t. I doubt the children do either, as I’ll bet none of the news has all the OTHER nasty details of the abuse they suffered. People who skin their children are likely to have done other evil things as well that weren’t reported.

it’s not due to a religion, it’s because they were already mentally unstable and would have done these things themselves or been manipulated into doing these things by others anyway. thank god for crappy baby monitors accidentally violating the neighbors’ privacy. i hate to think about what would have happened to those children otherwise.
I was thinking the same thing eternal. What a wonderful thing that both the scumbags and the neighbor had a picture moniter. And thank goodness that at that at that moment the neighbor was looking at the moniter. Those poor boys and their scars. For the rest of their lives they will probably ask themselves what was wrong with them that their mom didn’t love them enough to take good care of them. The sentences for this crime was ridiculous.
