Really, what can you say about 43-year-old Toni Melville and her sister, 42-year-old Denise Reynolds, other than that they might want to consider another career field.

Being career foster parents isn’t working out so well for them.

Toni Melville and Denise Reynolds lived together in Australia with nine of their own, biological children, a developmentally disabled adult and five foster children. Two of their own biological children are also developmentally disabled. All these people lived in a a three-bedroom home.

This would have made a fantastic sitcom pilot if it wasn’t for the dying 12-year-old that the two sisters left on a patch of dirt in their front yard.

This is 23-year-old David Grady – the little molester that couldn’t.

In 2003, David Grady was wandering the streets of Lincoln, Nebraska. Specifically, he was wandering the streets around an elementary school. Even more specifically, David was wandering the streets around an elementary school right about the time that school let out.

Eventually, David Grady found what he was looking for – a 10-year-old girl.

While Mr. Grady was able to take the girl by the hand and drag the 10-year-old to a secluded utility shed, he wasn’t quite able to do anything once he got the girl there. Before he could work up his nerve, David Grady was scared off by something and left the scene.

This is 23-year-old Dustin Patterson.

On the 26th of July, 2008, early that Saturday morning, Dustin Patterson decided to sneak up to the window of a home belonging to a family that he knew. The window he chose happened to be the bedroom window of a 6-year-old girl.

After opening the window, Dustin Patterson crawled into the bedroom and woke the little girl up. Holding a knife to her, he threatened to stab her with it if she screamed.

Let’s be honest, though. Haven’t you ever felt like stabbing a 6-year-old, like in a restaurant or in a movie theater?

So don’t judge.

This is 36-year-old obstetrician, Kirk Michael Smith.

Kirk Smith was a well-respected obstetrician who practiced with the SouthCrest Medical Group in Tulsa, Oklahoma after graduating from the University of Iowa in 1999.

Healthgrades gives Dr. Kirk Michael Smith a good score, with no disciplinary actions in the last five years and no malpractice claims.

They might want to update that, for a number of reasons.

Healthgrades didn’t quite pick up on the fact that in November of 2001, Kirk Smith was denied a medical license, based on allegations of inappropriate contact with some of his female patients during his residency at a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. The complaints were from women who all mentioned different levels of “weirdness” regarding Kirk Smith’s examinations. One patient reported that Smith “cupped” her breasts. Two patients reported feeling uncomfortable during pelvic exams, and another during a rectal exam. Of course there was nobody else in the room at the time of the examination.

We’ve been gone for a week due to training issues (have to re-certify in first aid, CPR and so on every year) so we haven’t been able to get up and writing as much as we would like. We do, however, answer our mail and read all the comments that people make on the site. One such e-mail sent to us contained the following:

Up until 2005, Milton and Patricia Harper used to have a big problem with their septic tank. For some reason, every time the area had rain the septic tank their house was connected to would throw raw sewage right back into their home.

Times are hard all over – especially when one spouse doesn’t work – and since Patricia Harper is a stay-at-home mom while Milton Harper runs his own home-security business, they never seemed to scrape enough money together to get that septic tank completely fixed.

On the 27th of October in 2006, 39-year-old Shakil Chowdhury was driving around in his car, looking for something to do.

Well, he found it.

The girl was 12. She was lost, and was looking for directions back to her part of town. She made the mistake of asking Shakil Chowdhury for help.

Shakil Chowdhury was able to lure the 12-year-old into his car with promises that he would help her find her home. Once she got into the car, she told Shakil her name, her address and her age. Shakil told the girl that he could probably find her house, but said that he had to go to his house for something first. He asked her if she would like to go with him and, of course, the girl agreed to go.
