This is 30-year-old Meshia Morant.
Meshia Morant is an illegal immigrant from Jamaica, living in the great state of Florida.
Pregnant, Meshia Morant was staying with her friends, Junior and Nadia Lodge - at least until the 14th of June, 2008.
On that day, the Lodges returned to their house in the morning to find a trail of blood leading from their living room to their kitchen. Junior Lodge, who knew that Meshia Morant was pregnant, asked the woman - who was carrying a white trash bag - if she had finally given birth.
Meshia said:

There was probably an awkward moment between the Lodges and their friend. There was blood on their floor, after all, and their friend was standing there with a white trash bag filled with what appeared to be garbage. Kinda weird. Personally, I’d imagine that the general feeling in the room was something along the lines of coming into a room and finding a close friend climbing out from under a great dane while covered with a white milky substance. You just don’t know what to say when that friend tells you that they were just checking the vet’s neuter work.
Of course, Meshia Morant had just told them that she hadn’t given birth, but something about the scene was likely…off.
Nadia Lodge worked up the courage to ask what was in the trash bag, and Meshia Morant finally admitted that she’d given birth and had put the resulting baby into the trash bag and was about to throw it out.
Awkward moment. Very, very awkward.
Junior Lodge immediately called emergency services, which arrived shortly to take both the newborn little girl and Meshia Morant to a local hospital.
Meshia is fine.
The little girl is fine.
Meshia Morant was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

She’s obviously unstable. I know they say women lose quiet a bit of their common sense during child birth and labor can take quite a toll on ones humanity, however to have the thought to get a trashbag and toss away a baby that you had just birthed…that takes a seriously effed up head. Wonder if teh backstory here had her getting raped or knocked up by someone while in Jamaica and a family relative took her in to keep her safe in Florida. Maybe she had tried to toss her self on her stomach to try and kill the baby because they couldn’t afford teh adoption. Maybe she felt she was a burdon enough on her keepers that a baby just wouldn’t help. I don’t know…but I have said before, no heart and killing/beating/attempting to kill a child or someone that can’t fight back is a quick and painful trip to hell.

It’s plain to me that this woman was suffering from puerperal psychosis and was not therefore criminally culpable. Perhaps this truly horrific scenario could have been avoided for both her and her child if they lived in a society that provided adequate support for women with crisis pregnancies, including adequate mental health care. Our society doesn’t do enough? There are signs in buses about places that will help you do whats right for your baby for free. SIGNS IN BUSES.

That’s true. And also very interesting that this professional doesn’t have any understanding how people react to tragedies. Usually compassion is felt towards the victim. And cases where child is victim people who has kids tends to feel anger and fustration. And that is exactly because of compassion and the fear that own child would be ever in that other childs place. I doubt that shrink would really feel that kind of feeling somehow un-human. I don’t really belive that idea that all people should feel now sorry for people who has done something like that - it is too much to ask really. And i belive that it is good that in society people don’t feel that this kind of thing is acceptable - offspring usually survives because we protect them and feel about that very strongly. But don’t Roberta feel sad; as a shrink ( ;) ) you know that this women will have those who feel compassion if she is really mentally ill. They are trained to do what is best for the patient.And i really think that she doesn’t need now compassion; she needs medication and psychiatrist - IF she is mentally ill. It is so easy to think that everything you cant understand and you think is insane is just because of some mental illness.
