On the 27th of October in 2006, 39-year-old Shakil Chowdhury was driving around in his car, looking for something to do.
Well, he found it.
The girl was 12. She was lost, and was looking for directions back to her part of town. She made the mistake of asking Shakil Chowdhury for help.
Shakil Chowdhury was able to lure the 12-year-old into his car with promises that he would help her find her home. Once she got into the car, she told Shakil her name, her address and her age. Shakil told the girl that he could probably find her house, but said that he had to go to his house for something first. He asked her if she would like to go with him and, of course, the girl agreed to go.
Shakil Chowdhury drove the girl two blocks to his home, where he gave her some alcohol and told her to go lie down on a bed in an upstairs bedroom.
A few minutes after she stretched out on the bed, Shakil showed up, held her down and raped her. Once he finished, Shakil Chowdhury left.
Moments later, a friend of his came into the room to take his turn at raping the girl.
While Shakil’s friend was raping his houseguest, Shakil was calling up some friends and inviting them to come over and have some fun too. Two more men showed up at Shakil Chowdhury’s house and raped the girl, between rapings that Shakil performed as the day wore on.
Shakil raped the 12-year-old a total of 11 times, moving the girl from bed to bed in his home and forcing her to clean herself between rapings.
Spent and tired, Shakil Chowdhury decided that he and his friends had enjoyed themselves enough and finally drove the girl home.
When he dropped her off at her parents’ house, Shakil asked her for her phone number before he drove off.
Once at home, the girl told her parents what she had gone through and the police were called. The pre-teen was able to remember the address of her rapist’s home, which led to a nice little raid and the arrest of Shakil Chowdhury.
Shakil Chowdhury pled guilty to six counts of rape and threw himself on the mercy of the court - who actually turned out to be fairly merciful to a kidnapper rapist.
In what seems like just another kind of rape, the state sentenced Shakil Chowdhury to a mere six years in prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Mary Doyle was quick to point out the obvious, to commend the girl for her bravery and to praise the system:
Chowdhuryâs actions that evening would have been unacceptable on a woman of any age, but to carry out this sort of attack on a 12-year-old child is simply abhorrent. His victim has shown a great deal of bravery throughout this case. I hope her bravery and the resulting conviction will encourage other victims to come forward, safe in the knowledge that Greater Manchester Police will investigate any complaints fully and take robust action against the people responsible.
Authorities haven’t yet found the other three men, but you can be assured robust action will be taken against them when they turn themselves in sometime soon.

OK - first of all, a rape victim is not required to try to escape or even to resist. Period. The courts have been very clear on this. So long as she feels that she is in danger, the court is NOT allowed to assess HER state of mind or her action or lack of action.
Second, even if the 12 year old was a “Lolita” (to put it nicely) this certainly must have been, at the least, statutory rape. I am not familiar with TX law, but I am pretty sure that EVERY state would consider sex between a 12 year old and an adult as statutory. I seem to recall that the youngest age now (in the past year anyway) is 14. 12 year olds do not have the legal capacity to “consent” to sex.
So, how the FUCK did he just get 6 years? There is something terribly wrong here. Horribly wrong. In my state, an adult having “non-forced” sex with a child would be anywhere from 20 years to life. Add the violence factor and it could be mandatory life w/o parole.
This makes me sick. I want the judge hanging by his balls too, and a whole bunch of 12 year old girls standing under him, pretending it’s a pinata party.

If you are serious, then you are a moron. Just in case, the point here is that 12 year old girls should not be alone, across town, in places they don’t know, with no supervision. 12 year old girls can be outside playing, but in their own yard or park, with a friend or two, and with someone responsible keeping track of them.
