Summer Lee Many White Horses
This is 31-year-old Summer Lee Many White Horses.
In case you were wondering, the leading horse is white.
The second horse is red.
The third, black.
Bringing up the rear is the pale green horse.
Summer Many White Horses has quite the past. Her family is well known throughout the Great Falls, Montana area for dabbling a bit in drugs, gangs and having issues with frequent intoxication. Summer herself is a registered violent offender with convictions in her past for one assault on a police officer and two instances of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Summer Many White Horses moved from place to place, leaving her 11-year-old daughter and 2-year-old autistic son with family members while she went and pursued whatever caught her eye that morning, week or month. So daycare was available for Summer’s kids while she was serving a term in prison at the Montana Women’s Prison in Billings, Montana.
And that’s good. It takes a village.
And Summer Many White Horses wasn’t into the whole parenting thing, anyway. The 11-year-old was ok – at least she could feed and clothe herself – but having a 2-year-old autistic boy hanging around you all the time…nuh-uh. You’d have to be a saint to deal with that kind of baggage when you’re a young hot mom like Summer Many White Horses – and Summer was no saint.
According to Elissie Buffalo, Summer’s aunt:
Me and my mom took care of James. Summer never loved him. She never bonded with him.
Summer proved this on the 21st of June, 2008. That was the day that she, while a bit inebriated, put her two kids in the car and started driving. Summer Many White Horses didn’t drive very well, however. Because she was drunk.
Duh.
When police noticed Summer’s slightly erratic driving, they tried to pull her over. She, of course, refused to pull over in an orderly fashion, instead choosing to hit the gas and lead police on a medium-speed chase through the town. After driving through several red lights, Summer guided her vehicle into a parked car – instantly creating some work for the local bodyshop and making it easy for the police to slap some handcuffs on her.
The car was towed to a local repair shop called Carnahan and Sons.
Summer Many White Horses’ 11-year-old daughter was taken into state custody.
Summer herself was thrown into jail and charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. Because Summer is poor, she couldn’t post bond and stayed in jail until the 10th of August, 2008, when she was released.
For some reason, she didn’t go pick up her car.
It just sat there.
At the repair shop.
Authorities with the Child Welfare Department started the ball rolling to take custody of Summer’s 11-year-old daughter during the month of August, but were having a dickens of a time figuring out where James Many White Horses was. Summer wasn’t really being honest about it, giving one person one story and another person a different story.
Where was James?
One family member was told that James Many White Horses had been taken by the state a long time ago. One official with the Child Welfare Department was told that the child was in a nearby town with relatives. Another official was told that James was in Portland, Oregon.
On the 4th of September, 2008, someone thought to themselves, “Hey, maybe we should really try hard to find out what happened to James Many White Horses.” The author of that thought contacted police and filed a missing person’s report which started a more vigorous investigation into the boy’s whereabouts.
As you’d expect, the police started the investigation by looking for the most likely person to know where the boy was. They caught up with Summer Many White Horses on the 5th of September, 2008, to ask her about her son.
This time, Summer was very cooperative, informing the officers that her son had died on the 29th of May, 2008. When she realized that her son had died (natural causes of course), Summer Many White Horses decided to treat the remains of her son with dignity and respect. Throwing the carcass on a blanket, Summer rolled that meaty little bundle into a tight little package, put the package into a garbage bag and tossed the garbage bag into the trunk of her car.
You know, that one she was driving her 11-year-old daughter in on the night she was arrested.
Yeah, the car she hadn’t bothered to pick up.
That’s the one.
After making sure Summer Many White Horses was nice and secure, officers zipped on down to the repair shop. After getting the trunk open, the found the decomposed remains of James Many White Horses – right where his mother said she left him.
Now, until the autopsy results come in, we don’t really know if James was put into the trunk while he was alive or dead. We can only wait and see if Summer lied or if the forensic evidence shows that she told the truth.
On the 8th of September, Summer Lee Many White Horses was charged with the murder of her son. She asked for a public defender.
Authorities have charged Summer with a felony count of tampering with evidence, because she hid the body of her son. She’s also been hit with a misdemeanor count of obstructing a peace officer because prosecutors believe that Summer Many White Horses lied a few too many times about where her son really was.
The maximum sentence for deliberate homicide in the state of Montana is life in prison. Tampering with evidence carries a possible 10 year prison sentence. Obstructing a peace officer has a maximum penalty of six months in jail.
I suppose the only thing left to say is…
Goodbye Horses.

This is so sad. Poor kids being shoved from pillar to post so mum can go out and party. Ive said it before and ill say it again, women who dont want the responsibility of raising children should either take the pill, use condoms or have their tubes tied.
The result of Summers selfishness is one dead child and one in state care.
The way she treated her dead son’s remains, without dignity, says a lot about her. Im sure that when the autopsy comes in it will show that her child died either by her hand or through her neglect.
I hope its not too late for her daughter to have a decent life.

sadder still is that I personally called Child Protective Services more than once while she was in Missoula. As did another neighbor. The police were here constantly due to Summers drinking, so her stupid assertation that she was numbing the pain of his death is a friggin’ lie, unless she was numbing it before he was actually dead because she knew what she was going to do. Furthermore that boy wasn’t autistic as far as I could tell, my kids played with him, he laughed and played appropriately when he was getting attention- Summer just wanted his disability checks, which she continued to recieve and cash even when she knew he was dead.
you know what, i’m going to be stone cold about this one and say the kid may very well be better of dead…. had he not been in the trunk, he would’ve probably been with one of her “daycare” familly members and in her grasp to do as she pleases. had the kid been taken from that family it would’ve been a different story, but as i read it, that wasn’t the case, so i think the kid has been spared from a world of pain.

If you really care to know “what is up with the names” here you go…..Our family names were not always pronounced in the english language until christen boarding schools would not allow our grandparents to speak their names in their native languages. As a result you end of with names such as “Rising-sun”, Many white horses, grey wolf, bears- tail, ect.

I lived in South Dakota for many years and the Native Americans in the Rapid City area (mainly Ogalala Sioux) have many similar names. Although, this site is not necessarily well-known for its PC-ness, I agree that the comment about the perpetrator’s name was unnecessary.

When i was assulted years ago, i pressed charges and we went to trial. During the trial i was questioned over my sexual preferences and history, my relationship with my children and even my financial history. Every aspect of my life was aired in court. Nothing was sacred, and i was the victim.
He on the other hand got to sit back with a smug look on his face, telling lie after lie, while i struggled to keep composed. It was the hardest thing i have ever done in my life.
I was treated like a criminal and i was so lucky that the poeple on the jury saw through him. Criminals have WAY too many rights.

The police arrested Miss Ride Many Horses and impound her car. But they failed to fully inspect and invetory the car? Seems to me we have a few police officers who forgot to do their jobs thoroughly.
If the child suffocated or died of heat stroke/heat related issue/dehydration/starvation and it happened while he was in that trunk, guess what officers.
Dereliction of duty is a criminal offense for a police officer and they can find themselves sitting right next to her for Capital Murder too. Cops love to search cars, it gives them more charges.

Some info I found on this case.
James Many White Horses also know affectionaly as (hymmie , its a spanish thing “J” sounds like an “H” ) was born an autistic child. Summer Many White Horses gave birth to him in a Billings prison, another aunt raised him for more than a year before a judge returned him to his mother after her release. Her daughter also was raised by a relative for a time. No one is sure who the father is and it is missing on the birth certificate. James was loved very deeply by his relitives.

On July 21, 2008 a month later (with her daughter in the car and jimmy in the trunk) , fleeing the police she crashed into a parked truck failed a breath test and was arrested. Her daughter was placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services and Summer is off to jail.
On Aug. 10, 2008 Summer is released from jail.
On Aug. 14, 2008 Child welfare officials moved for and gained custody of the daughter and to determine the boy’s whereabouts. Summer says her son was staying with a friend in Portland, Ore., A dispositional hearing was set for Sept. 3.
On Sept. 3, 2008 Summer is a NO SHOW !!
On Sept. 4, 2008 a social worker called Great Falls police to request that James be listed as a missing child. Local media outlets were contacted.
On Sept. 5, 2008 Police find Summer and ask her” Were The Fuck is Jimmie, you dumb fuck bitch” , Ok thats not what they said , its what I would have said. After lieing like a dog, Summer spills her guts and admits Little James Dean Jr. Is in the trunk . 3 friggin months after mommy dearest put him in the trunk.
Summer White Horses was charged with deliberate homicide and held on $250,000 bail.
On Sept. 13, 2008 Hundreds gathered in Browning to remember James Many White Horses
Jimmie was a happy child who loved toy cars and was nicknamed “Hymmie,” family members said
“He was just an active little boy. Just a happy, bubbly eyed little kid,” said Elissie Buffalo, Summer Many White Horses’ aunt. “He was loved dearly.” Marie Franks

Wow, whenever I hear that song now I will just remember this. So sad this child had such an uncaring mother, sad anyone has an uncaring mother. It makes you think about the children who don’t die while living with such creatures.
I guess I couldn’t stay away after all. Just thought I would report, I looked this up. She received 55 years on a plea. The autopsy also said that he was so badly decomposed that he had no internal organs. :( She deserved more than 55 years.
