This is 24-year-old Chance Reed.
Chance Reed is incredibly cool.
He has a cool car – a Ford Mustang that goes very, very fast.
He has a cool name – you can’t get any cooler than Chance.
He has a cool girlfriend – 19-year-old Krista Fujimoto – who recently had a very cute baby girl that she named Katie Ann.
Krista Fujimoto works, and on the 13th of September, 2008, Chance Reed picked up 6-week-old Katie Ann Fujimoto to babysit for a while.
Putting the baby in the back seat of that cool Mustang, Chance Reed raced off into the night.
Now, Chance Reed has something of a bad driving record. According to relatives of Krista Fujimoto, Chance has picked up something like 7 tickets, including tickets for speeding through school zones. He has purchased a number of cars from DallasCarZone.com, which sells Dallas used cars.
As Chance pulled up to a stop light, a dark Chevy Suburban pulled up alongside Chance’s Mustang. Inside that Chevy Suburban was a hispanic-looking guy wearing a ball cap backwards on his head.
So you had two douches in a row, each with a big engine to play with and a light about to turn green.
It didn’t end well.
Chance Reed and his racing opponent gunned their engines when the light turned green and raced down the road. Unfortunately for Chance, his skills weren’t quite up to par with that of the professional racers, and as he tried to pass a car he lost control of his Mustang, went across the road and ran into a tree and a pole.
Katie Ann Fujimoto was ejected from the Mustang and died from her injuries. Chance Reed was also ejected, but unlike Katie Ann, he survived his high-speed encounter with other solid objects.
Chance Reed claims that he can’t remember anything from that night. He can’t remember racing, he can’t remember crashing, he can’t remember that he killed a 6-week-old baby girl.
Krista Fujimoto told the press that she didn’t believe the reports that Chance Reed was drag racing when he got into the accident that killed her daughter:
I am a good person and a great mother. I would never put any of my children in danger if I didn’t trust that person.
If you look at that statement logically, you could argue that she just said that if she trusted someone she might put her children in danger. But logic isn’t really taught in school nowadays.
Sergeant Andy Hill from the Phoenix police has stated that Chance Reed might be facing a few charges when he recovers from his injuries:
This is an investigation that is ongoing into now a fatal accident where, if the witness statements and the scientific analysis of the accident scene bare out, he certainly could be facing some very serious charges.

I voted no. Yes, it is his fault, No, he should not have been drag racing especially with a baby in the car, but it appears to be an accident. Hell, I’m at the point now, thanks to this site, where if they didn’t beat, rape, cut, burn, hog tie, or starve a child, they are almost saints. Apparently, it’s very hard to not do those things.
Not only send him to hell but you too as well, meow! Street racing is a serious crime, countless people are killed, and idiots like this guy don’t stop racing until they have an accident. He knew better and you should too! And I hope the girlfriend dumped his ass; after reading, “I MISS MY LITTLE GIRLS!!!!”, one can only assume she did.
Chance doesn’t stop when someone got killed. He killed Brianna with his driving and now he has killed little Katie.
I votes no. Chance was not at fault for the accident Brianna was killed. A lady ran a red light, the seatbuckle cut in to Christinia’s stomache and that’s how the unborn baby died. I am waiting to hear the true facts on this accident before condemming Chance.

I know Chance and his family. They are very kind and giving people. I know Chance is having a really tough time with all this, he doesn’t remember the accident. I heard Chance was driving home with the 6 week old baby in a carseat in the backseat and that there were 2 vehicles behind him racing and he was just trying to get out the of way. There are 2 different sets of witnesses and versions out there and this is still being investigated. Maybe people should wait till the facts are out before condemming someone. If this is true, this could happen to anyone of us regardless of the car we drive.

The cops have witnesses man – Chance was drag racing the clown in the Suburban, and he lost it, hit a tree, and because he was such a fucking responsible daddy and hadn’t made sure his little baby was secured in her car seat, watched her fly through the God damned windshield. The fact are out. She was not restrained. That is why she was ejected from the car. That is why she died. If she had been restrained, there is a good chance she would still be alive today.
He was drag racing. There were wittnesses to this.

As for this happening to any of us…BULLSHIT! I know that when my precious children are in the car, that it is imperative for me to be the safest driver on the road. Drag racing is not an option. Them not being buckled in is just not an option. If their seat belts are not done up, i will not start the car. I can garantee that i will never be in the situation that Chance is.

I first read about this on MyDeathSpace. I was lucky (?) enough to get onto his profile mere moments before he made it private. (literally) As I scanned his photo albums, I came across 2 distrubing pictures of a little girl (I believe her name was Brianna who could’ve been no more than 5-8 weeks old). This was his child, obviously deceased, in these photographs. The mother of Katie was his no.1 friend, and from what I can gather, Katie was also his child.
Now, let me ask, why on earth would a man who just lost his “beautiful baby brianna” purposefully put another beautiful baby in danger. Did he not remember the horror and pain people he knew went through with the death of his first child?
I would never forget it.

Now, I have no idea how Baby Brianna passed. Obviously Brianna and Katie did not share the same mother.
But… his childish, wreckless actions caused the death of a newborn.

I know this is an old comment on an old post, but I’m really sick of people like you demonizing the other parent in this sort of incident. Of course she thought it was safe to leave the baby with him — it’s perfectly normal to think that you can trust your child’s father. Yes, his driving record is shitty, but you can hardly blame her for thinking that he would be careful when he has a god damn baby in the car, and I somehow doubt that she even had access to the details in his driving history — do YOU request a background check on everyone you date? Including traffic tickets? Never mind the fact that he likely shared custody of the child, meaning that he had as much free access to her as the mother did.
But of course, you have to be self-righteous, and demonize a woman whose baby was killed not by her, but by a man she THOUGHT she could trust. Let’s all just jump to conclusions without thinking them through, lashing at a grieving mother because we don’t want to believe that something like this could happen to any one of us. After all, we’re all omnipotent deities whose all-seeing, all-knowing intellect would never allow us to mistakenly make us think that we can put our trust in our children’s other parent. And being omnipotent, we also know everything about this woman, her life, her thoughts on that day and how she felt after losing her baby.
Chance Reed was driving the car. He was the one who didn’t buckle his daughter in properly. He was the one who decided to drag race with a fucking baby in the car. HE is the one who deserves to be blamed. Not the mother.
Once again… I have no idea how Brianna passed. I do know, according to his myspace page, that Brianna was his daughter. (The casket photo even graced the front of his “My Family” photo album.) I would also like to add that there were NO photos of Katie on his page. In his My Family section, or otherwise. Adding- the only photos of Brianna were her swaddled in a casket and labled “My Beautiful Baby Brianna”.

No no. Thre is no proof that Brianna was killed in a drag race. Facts are, he had a daughter named Brianna and cause of death is unknown to us.
brianna’s mother says that the baby was born stillborn after he crashed a car with her in it while she was pregnant. i can’t remember which article i saw, but if you google him, there will be a news article in which she comments, as well as kristy ann’s family commenting on what an idiot and bad mom krista fujimoto is. if i come across it again, i will post the link here.

Most parents who love their children attempt to read books on how to care for them. Very simply written books that tell you what they need.
Like food. Breastmilk, preferably. And shelter and protection. I’ve read those books. Twice, even though I consider myself semi-intelligent, because I have 2 children. I know for a fact that not one chapter in any of those books covered DRAG RACING while caring for an infant.
Wake up and smell the bullshit. This child would have died sooner or later. Either from abuse or neglect. Too bad they had to die in a forgetable race that Natalie Wood didn’t attend. They won’t be famous for that. They’ll be famous for killing a kid.

I’ve heard a good definition of sarcasm is “anger disguised as humor, poorly”. Well that works for me/ What a perfect way to vent a little rage and entertain at the same time. When it’s done really well, like glorybug does it, it’s a gift. I know after reading this last post, I was too amused to waste anymore energy hating these 2 “parents”. Their Karma will come around too bite them on their asses, just as sure as I’m standing here, so I’ll laugh at them, goof on Chance’s ugly face and Krista’s single-digit IQ, and we’ll all feel better thanks to people like g-bug.

As someone who is a father, and someone who has a history of drag racing at high speeds, I need to comment on this little story.
First and foremost we need to know what happened to Little Brianna. Did she die of natural causes? Was she the victim of his or her mother’s lack of parenting knowledge? Did she die in a drag race? All here will agree this plays an important part in deciding his fate. The court will pay attention to this if it was anything besides natural causes.
Second, he has a history of speeding tickets. Is there a history of drag racing? This is a question we do not have the answer to, but I’m sure some of you more inept posters can get this answer pretty quick.
Now, moving on and assuming, and please understand I am assuming that Little Brianna died of natural causes, then we can look just into his actions that day.
I have drag raced. It started in High School with a 64 Impala SS (yes, the 409 Dual 4 4spd) and moved through until I was about 30 with multiple built cars far beyond what the factories ever intended them to do. I’ve been clocked as high as 167 MPH.
Was it stupid? Yes, very stupid. I’ve been on an interstate (I-71) doing over 120 when a semi changed lanes and I had to dive to the grass center median and fight it from going sideways because I knew that would roll it. I’ve bounced cars of curbs to keep from hitting another car and blown many a tranny diving gears to help shut it down when fate began to take over and prove how STUPID I was being.
Note though, I’m a father of 3 daughters and my oldest is 6 1/2. I’m now 37 and haven’t drag raced since I found out she was coming. Why? Because life is way to important and she is far more amazing than the adrenaline rush from any race. Looking into her eyes, holding her hand, hearing her laugh and feeling those butterfly kisses are the greatest things in the world. There is nothing I would not do to protect her. After all that is my job.
So, while I was older than the infamous Chance when my first was born, I was no wiser. You see, when you become a father, something inside you changes and you have no control over it. At least if your normal. I’ve seen my friends go through it too. I’d say that Chance was thinking when he started that race, Chance does remember the race and Chance chose to say he can control the illusion CONTROL.
You see, he knew she was in the backseat. He knew she could not remove herself from the car. He knew she could not tell him to stop. He knew her life at that moment was completely and totally dependent upon him. So, yes, he is responsible for the bad decision to race.
Now, let’s look at the law and determine if he is guilty of his crime and to what degree.
In the United States in order to have a Capital Murder Offense you must kill an individual while in the commision of another crime. Note, it doesn’t exclude drag racing.
Now, in order to commit a crime the state must prove you intended to break the law. So, for this we need to determine if Chance intended to break the law by speeding and Drag Racing.
1st: The state can prove he had knowledge of speed limit laws as he had 7 prior tickets for speeding. In addition, every drivers handbook I’ve seen notes that Drag Racing is illegal. So, when he took the driving test we can bet he then acknowledged he was aware drag racing was illegal.
Next, did he intend to speed and Drag Race. Now is it reasonable to believe with the witness accounts the car just slowly increased in speed without him being consciously aware? Or do the accounts show him leaving the light with tires sqealing, high revving each gear and slam shifting the car? Was he Drag Racing or Road Racing? There is a difference.
Drag Racing each car has a lane and they abide by it, light to light and whoever gets there first wins.
Road Racing allows for changing of lanes, multiple roads, running lights and other tricks to get to an eventual winner.
Drag Racing is pure speed in a straight line. Road Racing takes more skill and is usually the type of racing that causes crashes and deaths. It takes a real idiot to crash when driving a straight line unless he forgets how to hold the steering wheel and push the brake pedal.
So, if Chance intended to Race the car and Chance was aware that Road Racing was illegal then Chance is actually not guilty of Vehicular Manslaughter. What, Not Guilty? Yes, Not Guilty of that crime.
Instead he is Guilty of Capital Murder and subject to the a Capital Punishment Sentence dependent upon the laws of the jurisdiction he committed the crime in.
He caused the death of another while in the commission of a crime. Whether he intended to cause that death is irrelevant. He did intend to Race on a public road with an infant in the car. Which brings up another point. It’s a felony in most states to endanger the life of a child.
Yes, I used to Drag Race and Road Race. Yes, I endangered the lives of others and acted like a complete and total idiot. Yes, if I had killed someone in the process of Road Racing or Drag Racing then yes, I would deserve and expect a Death Sentence.
A more fitting sentence though: Strap Chase into the backseat of a car, loosely, and then give him a shot that allows him to be fully conscious but unable to move any of his body muscles.
Next, equip that car so it can be driven by radio control and then run it down a road at over 100 MPH. Crash the thing and allow Chance to see how it feels to know your going to die and have no way of stopping it. Or maybe he’ll live. Either way, let him experience what Katie Ann experienced.
Most of us do stupid things when we are younger. I know i did. But like Danger when i found out i was having a baby all that stopped.
While i still have fun, its of a different kind. The kind that does not endanger my children.
It’s completely normal for us to do stupid things with our friends when we’re younger. But being a parent changes this.
My BNL who used to race with me even went so far as to disable his Trans Am the day his first daughter was born. He knew if he had it he’d want to play and the risk was to high.
Update on this story also: It seems that from the link Eternal posted that Brianna, Chance’s first daughter who died never actually got a chance to live. She was killed in an accident where Chance was also driving and was at fault.
In addition: Krista Fujimoto is a stripper and was dropped off at a strip joint to work. Just what I want to see: A bleeding G-String and leaking boobs, I guess one could use one of thos Tide Pens to clean up his jeans after she got done grinding.
Chance is still married, but not to Krista, rather to Christina and all of them lived in Christina’s Mom’s house. Krista is trying to decide if she is a lesbian. Chance and Christina are allegedly gettin a divorce, as soon as one of them figures out how to find the civil division of the courthouse.
As I see it: Chance and Christina wanted to have a 3-some so Chance went out and found Krista, who is nothing more than a worthless skank who’s only family refused to help her, even with a newborn needing help. So, they moved her into their own bedroom and the 3 played quite happily. Wait, I forgot, Momma also needed a little dissy (dick/pussy) so we know she was gettin some milk out of this too.

This guy i know is 22 and has never had a steady job. ( i think his last job lasted two days.) All his spare cash goes on weed, he is behind on his rent, and utilities and constantly complains about how unfair it is that the dole does not pay more.
And with this attitude, he and his dole bludger, 19 yr old girlfriend are planning to get pregnant.
I pity that poor kid when it finally makes its way into the world.( unless of course the parents make some dramatic changes..but i doubt they will.) And the part that pisses me off the most is that their parents support their quest to reproduce.
Some people just should not be allowed to breed.
Taking a look at the link Eternal was kind enough to put up, we are given a little more insight into this crash and how it killed Katie.
I’ll admit, when I first heard they were both ejected I was expecting to see a blog of crushed steel and no way to identify it as a car, let alone a Mustang. But wait, it is a Mustang and it is identifiable. Matter of fact, it’s very identifiable. The rear and right side are fully intact, the hood is bowed a little but not creased and only the bumper cover and grill are missing off the front.
Take a look at the pictures yourself, the bumper (the actualy bumper is the wide solid piece of steel in the picture across the front of the car) is not even dented or creased in these pictures.
The worst damage the pictures show is the left front wheel was ripped from the car and is laying in the street. So how did Katie die? How did she get ejected from this car? How did Chance get ejected?
Oh, I see now. Chance did not have a seatbelt on in this accident. If he did then he would have remained in the car unless the impact ripped his seat out of the car, that would require tearing it from the floor boards and also ripping the seat belt anchors out.
So, how did Katie, who was in her car seat, get ripped from the car? Oh now I see, she was in the car seat but the car seat was not fastened in.
I’m going to help you out here Chance and show you a little more compassion than you showed the rest of the world. The evidence does not lie, so listen closely because the evidence is screaming out over the largest speakers you’ve ever heard in your life. You killed Katie when you did not fasten that car seat into the car. Period.
Now, to help out all the others out there who do not know the proper way to fasten a car seat let me explain.
Take the base of the infant carrier and place it in the car. Next, if your car has Tether or Latch, attach the proper straps/clips and then place a knee into the base of the infant carrier and put all of your weight on it. Flex and drive it as far into the seat as you can. Pull the straps tight and make sure that base can not move at all. If it can move it’s not secure.
If you are not as fortunate as Chance and have an older vehicle that is not equipped with Tether or Latch, then you will need to use a seatbelt. Place the Base to the infant carrier onto the seat and route the seatbelt (shoulder harness to if your car has it) through the base, click the seatbelt ends together. Now put your knee into the base and press down as hard as you can, act like your trying to lift the car off your child. Now, press even harder to drive the base as deep as it could ever go into the seat. Place the silver locking clip on the lower halft of the seatbelt near the seat belt lock/release mechanism. Next, pull the seat belt as hard as you can (this is a great thing to grab all your beer drinking buddies for and have them tug it as hard as they can. Get this damn thing tight. Now, attach the clip to the shoulder section of the seatbelt so it can never move.
Now you can place the infant in the carrier and then place the carrier into the base. Make sure you also strap the infant into the carrier. When strapping your newborn into a carrier make it snug but do not hurt him/her.
Now, this set up will not come out of a car during a collision and had you take a few minutes to do this Chance Katie would be alive today regardless of whether you had raced or not.
One more note on installing car seats. If you are not sure or can’t get it right even after trying, driver over to your local fire department. They will be thrilled to help you install it correctly. It’s a free service all Fire Department offer. After all, in a crash they would rather grab a carrier off a back seat than to pick a child up off a back street.
One last thought: Do not ever put your child in the front seat of a car. That is a guaranteed death sentence for them.

So he wasnt just drag racing, he was so incompetant that he could not even buckle up his child before he took off.
My kids know that if they dont have their seatbelts on, the car wont move. But this baby depended on her dad to buckle her up.
This shows what happens when babies depend on adults, she would of been much better of doing it herself.

Wouldn’t that be ironic blaming the seatbelt for the first loss and not trusting it enough to save the second one. Then there is Chance. The first baby died , crushed by a seatbelt in a car he was driving. The second baby dies less than 2 miles from the first accident , 2 years later from a lack of a seatbelt.
Karma is at play here somewhere. Hopeful this will be the last baby Chance will kill but I dought it. The only safe people around Chance are when he isnt behind the wheel.

I recieved this in my e-mail from one of the Nurses who cared for Katie while she was in the hospital… It’s states very clearly how long Katie suffered after the accident and how Krista Fujimoto chose to spend her daughter’s last moments….
Thanks for responding with the picture. This was such a horrible story in so many ways. I wish I could update you as to the status of the case at this time, but I haven’t heard or seen anything in the Phoenix news lately. I will say, though, that while Katie was in the hospital (a day and a half), her mom spent most of her time on another floor visiting the injured Mr. Reed. It was frustrating and disturbing to everyone there. It’s one of the stories that haunts you long after the patient dies. That’s what led me to search for updates on the net to begin with. I’ll certainly pass along any updates that I hear about.

2 years ago my daughter was in the hospital for 2 weeks with pnumonia. I was with her 24/7. I took the time off from work and everythign else. I knew she would be fine and she is healthy and happy now. BUT my kid was in the hospital. she needed me. She was scared and really uneasy. She was in pain and she didn’t understand why.
At night the nurses fixed a bed up for me in her room. I ate with her, slept in the same room and took my showers there also.
I am a father. How could a mother be such a heartless cunt to her own child?? How could a mother choose a slimeball shitstain over her own flesh and blood??

My youngest son is asthmatic, and has to be hospitalised a few times every year. Sometimes its over night, but there have been times when it has been weeks.
I have four other kids, and it bothers me being away from them, but at that point in time, my youngest needs his mum. So my hubby takes time off work and he cares for the other kids while im at the hospital.
Plenty of times i have slept in the recliner chair next to my sone hospital bed. Its the most uncomfortable way to sleep….but i would not be anywhere else.
Amy, when my middle daughter was a few months old, and again at a year old, she had RSV… Took a week in the hospital each time… I did not leave her room for any reason…
Now thats what being a parent is all about…
too bad this is not something that can be taught in a class before these idiot female breeders take their babies home from the hospital :(
because if it couldn’t save katie from the accident in the first place, at least it could’ve given her comfort in her last moments.

My god, this such a fuckd up story. As many people have said on this site before”some people should not be allowed to breed”. When I saw the comment up there about how the “egg donor” was spending most of her time with the man who killed her child instead of her dying baby in the hospital I teared up a little for that poor baby. I can’t imagine how sad and betrayed that child felt. I hope they both go to hell.

Chance only has a $45,000 bond amount that is ridiculous(sp) sorry my spelling is not the best.
It appears as if Chance and Krista did get married. I love my husband but if he caused our son to die I seriously believe that I would have an extremely hard time of forgiving him. I believe that we would have to get a divorce because I would never trust him. I couldn’t believe she chose to marry him after he killed her baby.
Follow up story regarding Katie Fujimoto, 6 week old baby that was killed during a drag racing incident back in September, 2008. Chance Reed, the driver has been charged with manslaughter in the death of Katie. The mother of Katie, Krista married Chance in December, 2008, therefore siding with her husband and not little Katie. In the meantime Katie’s grandmother is fighting to retain custody of Krista’s 3 year-old daughter. CPS is involved in the custody battle, but with CPS experiencing budget & job cuts it is hard to get anyone to spend the time working on this with the family. The custody hearing is going to trial in April in front of Judge Bernard Owens, Family Court, Mesa, Arizona. The immediate family is worried about the 3 year old’s welfare and safety in being placed in the biological mother (Krista) and her husband (Chance) care. Any help you can give us in getting the immediate family’s concerns out in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Does anyone know how the custody dispute involving her 3 year old daughter that was supposed to go to court in April turned out? Also, has Chance been sentenced for the manslaughter charges? If so, how long does he have to serve? Sorry for the questions, but I couldn’t find anything about this. Thanks.
The custody dispute is still on going. The results aren’t looking so good for Elizabeth’s grandmother. We are praying that something that can be done. Chance was sentence for manslaughter, I believe he got 5 years but could be out eariler if on good behavior.

She’s just a white trash loser like her husband. She doesn’t seem like she cares her child died at all. I pity her children. Her Myspace says she’s getting a baby shower, I wonder who the fuck is giving her a shower. People shouldn’t waste their money, since considering the parents, this new baby has the odds stacked against it.
Might I add, the comment from the nurse who was working the night Katie died made me sick. My God, how alone that baby must have felt… wondering where her mommy was, while she was off tending to the man who killed her child, her future husband. My daughter landed in the hospital when she was 6 weeks old. For a week, I didn’t leave her side. I didn’t leave the room once. I sat there, reading her books, singing, feeding her, changing her, loving her with every fiber of my being. Not once did she wonder where mommy was, not ONCE did she open her eyes and not see me there. I hope she loses her children, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE THEM.

Katie’s grandmother and family friend stood by Katie’s side most of the time while she was in the hospitial. Chance’s parents gave Krista the baby shower.

Some of you all are really fucking stupid to think this man was involved in an ‘accident’. An accident is when you bump into someone after opening the door. An accident is when your 2 year old is doing the ‘pee pee dance’ in front of you and you don’t catch on until the last minute. An accident is not putting a six week year old baby into the car and then racing someone else. This piece of shit is just as evil as they come and he most certaintly deserves hell. I don’t give a fuck if he and is his family are ‘kind and giving’, and I hope his mommy can’t sleep at night knowing in her mind that she birthed and raised a baby killer. This sick fuck deserves nothing but hell and he’ll get his in the end. Honestly, and I don’t mean to wish harm on anyone, but I hope these stupid ass people who claim it was ‘an accident’ let someone they trust put their child in the car with an irresponsible douchebag and let him drag race, crash, and kill your child.
