This is 42-year-old Michael Jacques.
Michael Jaqcues likes to play make-believe, and there’s really nothing wrong with that. To a point.

Make-believe is completely and totally wrong, however, when - like Michael Jacques’ make-believe - it involves leading a 14-year-old to believe that you are an operative with a secret society that trains girls to become secret sexual operatives and occasionally has to “terminate” those girls to keep the information gained from their activities from falling into the wrong hands.
Brooke Bennett, the 12-year-old niece of Michael Jacques, was the latest recruit.
Oh yeah, Michael Jacques is a convicted sexual offender, incidentally. We bet you never would have guessed. And no, we’re not talking about Michael’s little incident in 1985 when Mr. Jacques was charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old about 100 times - those charges were eventually dismissed.
No, we’re talking about 1993, when Michael Jacques was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping after he tied up his 18-year-old victim - that he supervised at a local restaurant - and threatened to kill her as he sexually assaulted her. That was the crime that got Michael Jacques a prison sentence of 6 to 20, with time off for good behavior. He successfully completed the state’s sex offender treatment program in 2000 and was released from probation in 2006 - a changed man.
But let’s go back to the “secret sexual operative” part of Michael Jacques’ life, shall we?
In 2003, Michael Jacques the convicted sexual offender managed to get some alone time with a 9-year-old girl. During that time, he managed to convince her that he belonged to a powerful organization known as “Breckenridge” and that their operatives would hurt or kill her and her family if she didn’t complete the training that he had been ordered to give her.
And, of course, the training was sexual.
Between 2003 and 2008, Michael Jacques had a lot of sex with his little recruit. A large portion of the sexual encounters between Michael Jacques and his recruit were videotaped by Michael, who then copied and shipped out those tapes all over the United States - so they could be shared with degenerates just like him.
Maintaining a web of deceit wasn’t all that hard for Michael Jacques. He used fake e-mails, fake text messages and other means to convince his recruit that he was receiving orders from Breckenridge operatives. The seed was planted into this girl’s skull that sometimes Breckenridge “terminated” girls who were uncooperative. Even more sinister was the notion that Breckenridge might require this little girl to assist in planning out or concealing such a termination.
The time finally came for her to do her part during May of 2008.
That was when Michael Jacques told his recruit that his 12-year-old niece, Brooke Bennett, had been designated to be initiated into Breckenridge because she was starting to cause problems for her father and was leading him to contemplate suicide.
Michael told his recruit that initiation included Brooke having sex with several adult males.
Investigators believe that Jacques wrote to Juvenile 1 under two names, “Rauel Domingo” and “Chevy Pickup.”
On May 28, according to the complaint, “Rauel Domingo” wrote in an e-mail that they needed to find a way to get Bennett involved in the “Breckenridge” program soon. Juvenile 1 suggested how to set up the abduction and said that she wanted to see Bennett suffer to “see how she likes it.”
On June 20, an e-mail from “Domingo” worries about Juvenile 1’s willingness to carry out the plan.
“I want to know if you are willing to help dad with the taken-down and the tie up on Wednesday morning,” “Domingo” asks her.
It is unclear whether “dad” refers to Jacques. The e-mail also suggests that a Taser could be used. “I suppose we could just have him tase her and knock her down then do it himself, but that is a little more traumatic than I wanted her to experience that early in the morning,” read the e-mail. “She will have enough of that later.”
Juvenile 1 writes back to assure “Domingo” that she “will help out dad witht [sic] the tie down,” according to the complaint.
The 14-year-old’s assignment was to help him out a bit with the details.
To the rest of the world, on the 25th of June, 2008, Brooke Bennett - who had just finished seventh grade at Randolph Union High School - disappeared. To the police, it looked like they had another MySpace case on their hands, because based on Brooke Bennett’s MySpace page, it looked like she had met with someone she found online and lied to her family about where she was going.
A search of the area around Michael Jacques’s house revealed one of Brooke’s shoes near a small lake that Michael Jacques claimed to have found - and some of her clothing that police found.
What really happened?
Well, on the 24th of June, 2008, the 14-year-old recruit had convinced Brooke that they were all going to have a pool party at Michael Jacques’ house the next day, on the 25th of June. The next morning, after she had slept over at his house, Michael took Brooke to a local store and dropped her off there within view of the store video cameras, presumably so he could prove to investigators that he had last seen her there at the store.
The recruit and Michael Jacques then picked up Brooke a short distance from the store and brought her back to Michael’s house.
The 14-year-old girl and Brooke Bennett watched television for a while until Michael Jacques told his recruit that it was time for her to go. As she was leaving, she saw Michael take Brooke upstairs. The 14-year-old left Jacques’ house with her boyfriend and never saw Brooke Bennett again.
Of course, she did see some of Brooke’s clothing - specifically Brooke’s underwear - a bit later. That was the underwear on which she smeared some of her boyfriend’s semen at the direction of Michael Jacques.
At the same time, additional instruction was coming from “Chevy Pickup” that warned Juvenile 1 about the importance of protecting the “Breckenridge” program.
On June 23, two days before Brooke’s disappearance, “Chevy Pickup” instructed Juvenile 1 in an e-mail to have her boyfriend, identified as Juvenile 2, ejaculate on her stomach and wipe up the semen with a “CLEAN, PLAIN” handkerchief, according to an e-mail cited in the complaint.
“Then put the handkerchief into a plastic sandwich bag and seal it up and hide it,” the e-mail to Juvenile 2 instructed. A semen-stained handkerchief was found near Bennett’s torn underpants the day after she disappeared.
Authorities also traced a June 16 purchase by Jacques of more than $1,000 worth of sexual items from a Web site that were shipped to his Vermont home.
Brooke Bennett herself had been smothered with a plastic bag and buried by her loving uncle about a mile from Michael Jacques’s house. Michael took Brooke’s shoe and pieces of her clothing to plant where he and the police would find them.
Vermont’s computer forensic team is evidently pretty good. On the 29th of June, 2008, Michael Jacques was arrested due to evidence that the computer forensic team found that indicated Michael had been having sex with the 14-year-old.
On the day that he was arrested, Michael Jacques was charged with aggravated sexual assault against a minor, which could have gotten him 10 to life in prison.
The girl who Michael Jacques was accused of having sex with, when confronted with e-mails that computer forensic investigators found on her computer, told the authorities about her role in the disappearance of Brooke Bennett. More importantly for investigators, she told authorities about Michael Jacques’ role in the disappearance of Brooke Bennett.
Brooke Bennett’s body was found on the 2nd of July, 2008, in the shallow grave that Michael Jacques dug for her.
She would have turned 13 on July 12.
A medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Brooke’s body has claimed that he was able to find enough evidence that Michael Jacques had “drugged, sexually assaulted and murdered Brooke Bennett.” The particular drug that was used has not been revealed.
On the 1st of October, 2008, Michael Jacques was indicted on charges that included five counts of child pornography and kidnapping that resulted in death.
The federal grand jury that indicted Michael Jacques also decided that the case warranted special findings that would make Michael Jacques eligible for the death penalty if he is convicted on the charge of kidnapping that resulted in death. It would be up to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey as to whether prosecutors seek the death penalty against Michael Jacques. That decision is not expected for several months, which will probably leave it up to the attorney general of a new presidential administration.
Brooke Bennett’s family has stated that while they knew of Michael Jacques’ history as a convicted sexual offender, they never saw any signs that he would behave inappropriately when they were together at family gatherings. As to warning Brooke about her uncle’s past, Janet Bennett, Brooke’s stepmother, had this opinion:
That’s not something you tell a little girl. She was just a beautiful little girl.
James Bennett, Brooke’s father, stated that parents need to keep a closer eye on their children, even around family, because:
It’s not just strangers you’ve got to watch out for.

Addictions are behaviors not sicknesses. Let’s say I am a sex addicts - (in 1 word - male) - it definately is a harder choice for me to make than a non sex addict (1 word - female) to pass by a strip club, and even if “the devil made me do it” (stop at the strip club) - bottom line I could have not walked in, I could have got back in the car and left, I could have kept on going. As a sex addict (male) once the thought of sex gets into my head it IS HARDER to get it out of my head, it is harder to think about something else, but I still have made a choice.
Cancer on the other hand, is an illness. Can not walk away, can not say NO. In the short run there are no “pre-choices” to help avoid it completely - just gotta deal with it and the consequences. In the long run some cancer may be avoided (don’t smoke), BUT an addict is NOT sick ike a cancer person and the treatments are totally differencet.

Ok who the hell voted to not have him go to hell??!!?? I swear some of these people that say no i guess they dont read far enough into the story nor do they catch any of the emotional scarring that this family will face but unfortunately it is their own fault for not giving the girl the KNOWLEDGE to protect herself!! Hell my son is 6 and he knows probably too much information but yet he comprehends it as well. (Nothing weird) he knows about his biological father (major domestic violence there) and that M-O-M (he spells it instead of saying it) USED TO have a drug problem. Been clean 4 years 8 months and the thing that saved me was my parents. I never lost my kid i never had CPS at my house, I was what they call a functioning addict went to work everyday. Never EVER once did i think of doing these horrible things that i have been reading about. But hell KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!! talk to your kids, just thinking back we had an odd uncle in our family not sure what became of him but still teach your kids to be wary of people including family members. All children should be taught protective behaviours as soon as they are old enough. Teach them to identify with how they feel physically when they are scared. If someone touches them in any way that makes them feel that physical reaction, that is BAD touching and they can tell ceratin people about it. My kids have a list of 5 people they can trust and turn to. They also know that if someone threatens them in any way that they are to scream and fight as much as they can.
Teaching our kids is the best way to protect them.

I agree that the best thing we can do with our children (and indeed ourselves) is to teach and allow respect of our instincts. Whenever we ignore our basic feelings of discomfort or fear we get in trouble. We often do this because we want to be polite or PC or because our parents/elders expect it. Respect children, respect your instincts. I have a pretty amazing number of stories about when/how this works.

Im still trying to figure out why he was considered reformed and released from prison.
I was discussing this sort of thing with a friend of mine who works on the W.A parole board. She works with sex offenders.
I asked her,” how do you know that someone has been reformed? Does the sexual offender rehabilitation actually EVER work? And how do they police this after the prisoners release?”
She had few satisfactory answers. After parole is finished, they are free to do as they please. Of course they are registered as sex offenders, but this sex offender list is not available to the public. As for if rehabilitation works….the answer was dodgy. A lot of talk about how they can be released into society and never offend again.
I dont see how they even deserve that chance.
Shoot them. Anyone who sexually abuses a child needs to be dead. No second chances. All that happens when you give them a second chance, is that another child gets molested.

I don’t care what program they go through-even pedophiles that have been chemically castrated have a very high (almost 100%) recidivism rate. It is time for law enforcement, including our courts to get with the program, for the kids’ sake. I also do not believe that they didn’t protect this girl with the knowledge of her uncle’s past. Very true, Dual. Recently I was asked to give a parenting class for a court-ordered mother. She has two kids, age 2 and 4 months. She lost her kids to foster care because they were covered with bruises and they had been left alone several times. While her kids were in foster care (and two weeks before classes were to begin) she married a registered sex offender who had recently been arrested for living too close to a school. She was only required to take 8 hours of classes over a 4 week period. I refused because I wanted to have no hand in these children being hurt-ever-I would never have been able to forgive myself. How stupid of a mother do you have to be to marry a guy who is a registered sex offender?

I have an 8 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. I am totally honest with them about what they need to watch out for and what is ok and not ok. I never leave them with anyone other than my mother-in-law. I make sure that I know friend’s parents well before they are even allowed to play outside of our yard.
It is a sick world, and if you do not give them all the information that they need to protect themselves, very bad things can happen.

I surely hate reading about shit like this being done to innocent little girls. Like I have said before, I have a 13-year-old daughter and I can NOT imagine what I would do to somebody if anything like this ever happened to her.
