Ervin and Ana Lupoe
Ervin and Ana Lupoe. of Wilmington, California, were fired from their job. It’s been happening alot in these days of financial crisis. Mr.and Mrs. Lupoe felt like they could no longer go on, and as the parents of five young children, twin 2-year-old-boys, twin 5-year-old-girls, and an 8-year-old-girl, a decision had to be made about what to do. Do we leave them behind and put their fate in hands of the Department of Children’s Services, or do we murder them and take them with us. Sounds like your typical murder/suicide scenario more and more Americans face every day. But if you think I’m going to make an argument that parents such as these deserve hell, you’d only be partially correct. Even I’m not that cold hearted. But I do believe Ervin and Ana Lupoe and very cold hearted, and very, very Hellwortly.
First of, it doesn’t look like the Lupoes were let go on account of downsizing, cost cutting, of any of the other reasons a company would lay off employees during a financial crisis. After an investigation, it was learned learned the Lupoes were fired for committing fraud and gross misconduct at their place of work, Kaiser Permanente, in an attempt to obtain free child care.
Diana Bonta, vice president for public affairs at Kaiser Permanente, said the couple falsified income records so they could qualify for a child care program run by Crystal Stairs, a nonprofit child development agency located near the West Los Angeles medical center where they worked.
Several police sources familiar with the investigation told The Times that Ervin and Ana Lupoe made upward of $40 an hour each in their work as radiological technicians for the hospital. But the couple made it appear that they were earning between $7 and $10 an hour, according to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing. Ervin even forged his
supervisor’s signature.
The disparity was discovered when the child care agency called Kaiser to inquire about the couple’s income. Bonta would say only that Kaiser launched their investigation in December after being informed of the alleged fraud.
This tragedy began on Saturday, January 28th when police received a rambling, disjointed call on 911 from Ervin Lupoe claiming that he had killed his entire family and blaming financial problems and his wife’s and his termination on Kaiser Permanente. He also claimed he and Ana had discussed what to do with the children and murdering them was preferable to leaving them with “a bunch of strangers”. I wonder if the kids had a vote. He then hung up on police, put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.
This story made me angrier and angrier the more I read about, especially as the details of the parent’s fraud came to light. One thing you have to have clear in your mind is the large salary Ervin and Ana were making to start with. At the minimum of 40 dollars an hours and a 40 hour work week they were grossing well over $165,000 a year.
The couple’s financial situation, though pressing in recent months, did not appear to be especially dire. The Lupoes were behind one month on their mortgage, investigators said. They found notices of two bounced checks — one for about $15,000, the other for almost $2,000 — to pay for property taxes and penalties, according to the police sources. Investigators said it did not appear they were behind on their credit card payments. I know I’ve faced worst scenarios that this and suicide never entered the picture, never mind filiacide.
Perhaps it was the loss of their jobs piled on top of the scandal of being caught defrauding their employers, or that by being let go for malfeasance Ervin and Ana killed any chance of collecting unemployment compensation. Maybe it was the knowledge that their chances of finding a new job were now seriously compromised because their employment record is trashed that drove them over the edge. Who knows? But, why the kids?
Did the children get a vote? Of course not. They gut a bullet in the head same as mom and dad. But what was their guilt? Was it the children who lied on the child care forms. Was it they who committed murder in the name of God. Was it they who tried to rip off the company they worked for, then turned around and tried to blame THEM for the murders?
No, in my opinion Erwin and Ana punched their own tickets to hell. The whole murder-suicide plane was Ana’s idea – she was the master planner. Maybe I’m being a little harsh on them, but I took me several days of thinking about how to approach it, and this is what I came up with. In my mind, if you commit a crime, then suddenly get caught and embarrassed, and think the only way out is to off yourself and your innocent family, you belong in hell. Period!
The Lupoes adults don’t deserves our sympathy, only the Lupoe children deserve out pity. They are the only victims in this tragedy.

You know, the sad thing is that Mr. and Mrs. Lupoe (idiots) were likely assured their jobs in these times (being that they both were in the medical field.) The fact that these “succubus on the system” people decided to de-fraud a non-profit agency and be so brazen as to forge their supervisors signature exemplifies their stupidity. They should be condemmed to hell for that reason alone. Good for Crystal Stairs and Kaiser for catching it and nailing them to the wall. They should do those checks more consistently because I would venture to say that many, many others are doing the same thing all over the place.
Mr. and Mrs. Lupoe should have just killed themselves because from what they sound like, their kids WOULD have been better off being raised by strangers. They had no right to force their children to suffer the consequences of their dishonest and sneaky actions. Those two are going right to the center circle of hell for this one.
I understand the feeling of desperation due to lay-off and financial crisis; I’m so there. BUT, I cannot imagine, under any circumstance, hurting my children in any way. They are my life & my heart. Unfortunately, too many weak people take this violent path out of hardship, apparently oblivious to the fact that this is a very permanent solution to a very temporary problem . . . something these parents will have an eternity in hell, alone, away from their children, to consider & lament. Fools.
When this story broke on Saturday, I remember being really annoyed about it, and when the bit about the fraud came out, I thought it might make an interesting story for PYSIH. What I underestimated was how aggravated I would get at the parents as more and more detail came out about how their attempt to get free or low-cost child care. First I saw their hourly rate – $40+ an hour! Both of them? 165 thousand a year minimum and they feel the need to scam? And it turns out the provider of this child care is a non-profit (i.e. people giving out of the goodness of their hearts). The Lupoes were Greedy people. The Lupoes were bad people and it cost their children their lives. You can call me harsh, you can call be mean, and judgmental, and you know what, that may be so, but I’m right about this assholes and what’s more important, 5 innocent kids are dead – I”ve fucking had all I can stomach of people who do this shit to their kids and tell themselves it’s “best for the children”. No, no fucking way is a bullet to the head the best thing for any of those five kids. They all should be alive now, and on there way to making the most of the life God gave them. Their thieving and now murdering parents sure didn’t have the right to make the decision to take that life from them.
So no, I have no compassion for Ervin and Ana, and I hope in my heart that God chose to roast their asses is hell.
First off, R.I.P to all of the Lupoe children. Second, why the hell would a bullet be better than “leaving them with strangers?” Did they have no family they could turn to to leave the children with? Were they that ignorant to have to murder 5 children because of their hardships? I understand going through diffucult times. I understand fear of putting kids up for adoption and not knowing who would assume care for them. But quite simply in the end, they took the coward’s way out of it all in my humble opinion. So hell for them both.
Hell for them and those who fired them.
Cassie, why for the company that fired them? It was not their fault that the Lupoes chose to be greedy and decietful!
Agreed. They fired them for a legitimate reason, not just for the sake of firing them. I don’t that’s hell-worthy

Thank you, Max. That is EXACTLY how I felt about this!
I couldnt have said it better Lena….so i wont even try.
Oh I didnt say that, I stole it from Max because he must have read my thoughts :)
Well, that means I stole it from you when I read your mind Lena.
Honestly, I believe most people were thinking the exact same thing, and it’s not a coincidence that we all came to the same conclusion
I had to read this entry three times just to get it to sink in. I just-there’s a huge gap between “we got fired for fraud” and “let’s shoot the kids and ourselves”. What part of this makes sense? I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t understand it!
no problem with them killing themselves, but why on earth did the kids have to die? they didn’t want them living with strangers, what kind of fucking lunacy is that?
that kind of logic fits right in with “if i can’t have it, nobody can” a very very sad way of looking at things.
My baby bro just announced that he and his partner are pregnant. Its a surprise pregnancy and when i last spoke to him he was worried about how they would cope with a baby when they are having financial problems. My answer was, “you just do bro.”
I struggled terribly when my ex and i broke up. I had five kids to provide for and no child support coming in. There were nights when i would sit and stare at the sky praying that somehow we would make it through another week. And we did. It wasnt easy, but we coped. The rent was always paid and there was enough food to make it through. There was absolutely NO room for any luxuries. And those tough times passed. They usually do.
Ervin an Ana, if they wernt so damned greedy, could have eked out what they had and worked hard to make things better. But they were greedy and lazy and prefered to be cowards and murder their children. I hate these POS scumbags.
And thats why its best to say TO HELL THEY GO!!!!
Oh, definately…
I wonder if Keith Luke is going, “Yeah! Another seven down, and I didn’t even have to lift a finger! White power, dude, yeah!”
Man, this is just depressing. And this is what happens when you’re a greedy piece of shit who loves money and bling-bling more than your own kids.
At the risk of repeating myself, who the f&%k votes no in a case like this? …Oh yeah, defense attorneys. The only thing about this story that makes them sad is that the shitheads committed suicide, as this means there’s no client.
I work for Kaiser. One not too far from the one we work at. Employees are fired all the time for various types of fraud. How can Kaiser deserve anything to do with this when these sick fuckers killer their children because the bad decisions THEY made
This is like a bad episode of The Cosby Show directed by Eli Roth……
….No in fact fuck that it’s like a GOOD episode of the cosby show i always wanted Bill to go ape shit and cap the whole family.
Thanks Stormy. All day I am gonna be thinking about freakin Cliff Huxtable running around with an AK-47 screaming at his kids that they shoulda ate the puddin pops… And I’ll laugh at inappropriate times. And people will think I’m crazy.
Do ya reakon we could get him to take out those annoying Brady Bunch kids and the boys from Different Strokes while he’s at it? If i hear, “what you talking about Mr D” ever again it will be too soon.
Hee hee. The Brady’s were annoying.
To hell you go….RIP poor babies
These poor children died as a result of their greedy parents. I hope the parents rot in hell…
A crying shame that the kids had to suffer for their dumbass parents behavior and crookedness. May the kids rest in peace and the parents roast on hell’s bar-b-que rack.
Yeah, this story came out a couple of weeks ago. I was appalled when I heard the news. This couple lived only a few cities away from me.
My question is:
Did these people think that they’d be able to shoot themselves and their children, close their eyes, and wake up at the pearly gates?
Good riddance to the children’s scumbag parents, but God Bless the soul of the innocent children.
I’m with ya, Lonny. I don’t understand what the rationalization for something like this could possibly be. I wish people weren’t so selfish and stupid.
I agree with everyone here. Just because they GOT CAUGHT does not mean that the children have to suffer for their parents sins. I sat here and had to reread the article several times. $40 an hour DAMN in these hard times across the nation you try to cheat out some free childcare makes me sick
I used to have to pay for daycare and yeah it was rough but you make adjustments to your budget and deal with it.
And i agree with Charmer, during these financial hard times its rough hell i am unemployed there are literally NO jobs where i live i do get unemployment, and my husband is fighting for his disability but that takes time and we make due with what we can, yeah rent and bills are behind but we are getting by the kids are happy and healthy! We would never ever condsider offin the kids or ourselves we just hang on to the hope and that small pinpoint of light at the end of the tunnel that we will one day be able to be ahead of the “eight ball” instead of behind it. DAMN these two people piss me off cant even consider them parents because what type of parents do this to their children jsut because they made a bad bad decision.
Ok enough of my ranting sorry guys.
Beautiful comment Vanessa – You and your husband are the direct opposite of the Lupoe’s; Strong, courageous, full of love for each other and for your children. You are the people I wrote this story for. Hopefully folks who read the Lupoes sad pathetic tale will notice people like your family making it every day, day after day, one foot in front of the other, just doing what has to be done to survive, but never, ever, taking what doesn’t belong to you or grabbing more than your fair share. What a role model for living life…..
Well written Vanessa. The Lupoes had underlying problems. Sorry to hear about your problems. Hope all goes well.
Hell would be too good for them, they’d be with their own kind.
Let their souls stay wit their rotting corpses, may they come alive in their caskets, only 6 feet away from the civilized world above.
Some people just ca not get enough……
Some people just wanna ride the gravy train…..
I wonder what they did with $165,000?
Pay taxes – but with 5 kids that cuts down on the obligation….
Food
Car
Utilities
Housing
…….
Drugs
Gambling
Toys…..
Partying….
While the top are a major part of any budget, the bottom ones start out as fun, but can quickly become budget busters…. and the funny thing is when things get tight on the top items, people usually make do, but when the bottom gets tight, most people know just to cut that out, but some just can not make do without….
From what I’ve read, these children had a grandmother who loved them, who is now heart-broken, and who would have gladly taken these children into her home rather than see them killed. Even if grandma hadn’t taken them in, there are any number of childless couples looking to adopt who would have taken in these beautiful children. It’s hideous that the parents tried to portray their act of hateful vengeance in altruistic terms–as though they had the best interests of their children at heart! It makes me want to puke.
I second your opinion on this matter. Personally I have a child that suffers from ADD, and this aspect of child development has left me puzzled on the options that I can take up. Sometimes I am just at my wit’s end.
that was clever how you tried to hide a link to your mental heath service website behind a hyper-link konnie.teo. so clever I decided to leave your comment up instead of sending it to spam hell. of course, i did have to make a small change in the url, but look at it this way; you’ve lost an advertising opportunity, but you’ve gained a possible new client, plus I get to give my friend morbid’s blog some attention on your dime as a bonus. you have a nice day now, ya’hear.

Ha ha ha, nice one, editor! Should we vote on whether or not spammers who post on PYSIH should go to hell?
Spammers are like roaches: We could have a nuclear Holocaust, and yet somehow, they would survive and reproduce.
Let ‘em all burn Kathy! This guy could have fooled me too, except I always check the links before I approve a comment. Can you imagine the quality of treatment you must get from a guy who has to spoof blogs to get any ad space? I can see the place now: The Acme Mental Health and Fried Chicken Emporium – rotflmao!
There are lot of people who get fired, but they don’t murder their whole family. I notice there have been a lot of them in Southern California. I know the hard times hit them really hard. Anyways, they can rot in Hell for that.
Killing your selves is one thing and off to hell these two go but how do you even bring up the whole killing the kids thing? Would she have just made a joking reference to it to see his reaction and gone from there or what? Seriously that would be one cold conversation.
