Looks like life has been difficult for doggy-killer Nicole Spatig. She’s received death threats, been reviled by animal lovers everywhere, and generally branded the most hated woman in America by every Animal Rights Organization know to man. Worst of all, She’s had to remove all her internet profiles of herself, including Facebook and MySpace because of all the negate attention the story has drawn to her. And it’s all over a little misunderstanding, according to Nicole. Just read the following article, provided to us by our friend “man” and you’ll find out lots of interesting things about Ms. Spatig.
Woman arrested in dog’s death says she’s ready to face consequences, move forward

Since she was accused of allowing her dog to starve to death in a cage last year, Nicole Spatig said her life has been in an uproar.
The former Beaver woman had notes threatening her life slipped in her mailbox. Spatig said she lost her job at a local fast-food restaurant and also got thrown out of restaurants. She’s moved out of Beaver County all together.
Thursday, Spatig, 22, waived her right to a preliminary hearing on 10 counts of animal cruelty.
Spatig said she “felt horrible” about the death of her German shepherd, Mya, and said she’s prepared to face whatever consequence court may hold.
“I just want to be able to live my life again, and not have to hide,” Spatig said. She remains free on $1,000 unsecured bond.
Spatig had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing this morning but waived the hearing Thursday morning after meeting with her public defender, Thomas Phillis. Phillis declined to comment Thursday afternoon on whether the waiver proceeding was moved because of safety concerns.
The case has gotten extraordinary public attention. Beaver County District Attorney Anthony Berosh has acknowledged phone calls and e-mails to his office about the case. A couple of weeks after the charges were filed, animal activists had a candlelight vigil for the dog.
In light of the threats against Spatig, Beaver County Chief Deputy Jay Alstadt said Thursday that deputies were prepared to provide extra security at the county courthouse this morning.
Berosh said his office “is taking the threats seriously and is investigating them.”
Spatig said she had been diagnosed last year with MRSA and at the time of the incident had been staying with her parents while she recuperated.
She said she had told her ex-boyfriend, who hasn’t been named, to care for the dog and cats inside the apartment, and didn’t know they had not been fed.
“I’m devastated,” Spatig said. “She was our dog. I’ve had animals my entire life. Of course I feel terrible.”
Spatig said that in the wake of the attention surrounding the case, she’s removed various profiles of herself that she had on Web sites, including MySpace. She refused to say where she’s living now.

Oh, your life’s been in an uproar, huh? At least you still HAVE a life, unlike your poor dog. Do the entire animal kingdom a big favor and DON’T EVER GET ANOTHER PET AGAIN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. I’ve had to let bills go unpaid and do without plenty of stuff several times in the past to make sure my pets were cared for. My house might be messy but my cats all are shiny, fed and clean no matter what. There’s no excuse for what you did, you sorry bitch. You deserve everything you get!

You have obviously never loved a pet. My dog is like my son, I love him to death and would kill someone that hurt him. And I’m not kidding. I protect him to the best of my abilities…I even get nervous when my guy friends wrestle around with him. This girl’s life SHOULD be completely ruined for her irresponsibilty and selfishness.

I would never value an animals life over a human’s, no, but it wasn’t like she had to choose between her life and the dog’s. If she couldn’t care for the dog or buy the dog food, she should have taken it to an animal shelter or at the very least, not locked it in a cage where it had no way to survive. Actually I would value the life of my dog over 100% of the assholes that end up on this site for their crimes. My dog is loyal, gives unconditional love, does not go out and rape & kill other dogs or puppies… you know? The list goes on. The thing is she chose this dog for her pet, in doing so she made a commitment to care for this dog, feed him, keep him safe and in return he in a cage and letting him STARVE to death. I can get what John is saying. It is unbelievably terrible that this woman let her dog starve I mean its cruel and might be somewhat intentional. But the woman life is being threatened over a dog and that is rediculous. Just last week I was at a benefit helping shelter and take care of homeless pets and they raised 3 times what a children’s cancer benefit raised and that makes me sick. People that have pets act and treat people that aren’t savy at taking care of their pets as if they are the scum of the earth. The fact that people are so willing to end someones life over a dog is just plain wrong.
I have to agree with John Bender here…it’s a fucking dog. If her story is true, what is being done to her is WORSE than what she allegedly did to the dog. Why is it worse…I mean, the dog died and she is still alive? Because it is being done to a human being. IF her story is true, it will easily be proven…if not…well then, spew away…
I don’t believe her story at all. I know when i leave my dog and have someone come to take care of her i call several times to make sure they went, that they fed her and that she was walked! I can’t believe some of you think just because it is an animal that died that it isn’t that important. Of course you would pick a human over an animal but none the less, there was no reason for any of this to happen. I hope she feels this pain for a LONG LONG time and blasted everywhere she goes. Another short article stated she’s headed for trial and there will be no plea deals. There is a comment on that article about her trial starting in JULY. Maybe the docket has more on it.

I hate this BITCH so much. I don’t feel bad for her at all. Her apartment was a filthy health-hazard. If she was a responsible and caring pet owner, she would have made solid arrangements to care for her pets. Otherwise, she could have taken them with her. She wasn’t in a coma, she had MRSA for gods sake. And what Man said is right about that disguting apartment having to do with her acquiring MRSA.
Obviously, the fans were on and the windows were opened for a reason. Someone saw those pets suffering and most likely saw that the dog was dead. My guess is that she probably saw it, that sick bitch, turned on the fans, opened the windows and left. This will follow her forever, it was so wrong and foul.

Exactly what I thought! There are actual precious living children and babies, as well as the elderly being starved to death all the time. Once you solve those problems and hold vigil for all of those HUMANs, then you can worry about animals. Dogs should be respected as life, but they are not above me or equal.

Lena, try looking at it this way… If she left a dog to starve by himself for so long his mouth was wrapped around the cage bars trying to get out when he died and she is still this young… How well do you imagine she is going to treat a child? I see what you are getting at, Danger, really I do:) However I just don’t think she should be punished by a lynch mob because of what she did to this poor dog on the chance she MIGHT do it to a child. I know women who could care less about the dogs they have, (and why they keep them I don’t know) but they are some of the best mothers I have come across in my short years. MSRA absolutely does not relieve her of her responsibilities as a dog owner. I have been out for the last month or so because I had a heart infection. Any time my heart rate went up or I got stressed out I got debilitating pains in my chest to the point where I could not breathe comfotably for a few minutes. This did not stop me from loading and unloading my car two different times to make sure that my dogs were with me so that I could still care for them. This car load included a metal crate for a 50lbs dog and another metal create for a 180 lbs dog… Those things are fuckin’ heavy, especially without any help!
Your own selfishness does not constitute a reason for the death of a dog. There are many kennels and shelters that would have taken her dog open arms if there was no other resort for Mya and the cats… You just have to be responsible enough to look for the places and ask for help.

I read this article in our local paper the other day, but wasn’t sure legally if anything had been resolved, so I didn’t post the Beaver County Times link. Glad to hear there will be a court date–wish it was sooner than July. You know, if Nicole had really had MRSA and went to stay with her parents, that would have been her original story from the start. Instead, various versions of her story included going to the apartment to care for the pets every few days, and staying with different friends due to an unspecified illness. So she’s full of shit. And I hope she doesn’t get her life back until she owns up to her responsibility and guilt in the matter, and justice is served. I was personally aggravated because the writer of the story seemed to portray her in a sympathetic light–which is something she doesn’t deserve.
The July date was from a comment in the timesonline.com article. I found her new docket in the Court of Common Pleas website, but the trial date was not filled in. But this is the court that handles the trials and the docket status is Active.
Will check periodically.
BTW, I don’t understand why some people argue that we shouldn’t get upset about animal abuse because children are being abused. People who hate animal abusers also hate people abusers. It’s called having a HEART and a CONSCIENCE. I have enough of both to be upset about all of the sad stories we read on this site, and I have enough energy to be vocal about ALL abuse.

AMEN, YoMomma. There are many, many candle light vigils that take place, and make-shift memorials that are erected for abused and murdered children in this country–they occur on a daily basis. If space would allow, I’m sure there would be several thousands of people in attendance at Caylee Anthony’s memorial service–many of them strangers–some of the same ones who volunteered hours of their time helping to search for her remains– some of the hundreds who have protested on her behalf in front of the Anthony’s residence. I wonder about the extent of your ability to feel love and compassion, Lindsay. You can feel compassion for an abused child, but not a helpless, trusting pet that was tortured to death? Why don’t you take the energy and time you spend judging the people who post on PYSIH and instead direct that energy towards people who DON’T give a crap about basic human kindness and compassion?

A bigger point many people miss. She slowly let her dog strave and die a painful death. If she does that to one living creature, what’s to stop her from doing it to her kids or relatives. People that show cruelty to animals don’t usually stop, they move on to humans.

Next time you decide to write some unintelligent tripe lording the virtues of people over animals in an animal abuse case, read up on the case.
In this case, the aforementioned cunt had been renting an apartment, but had taken to variously staying with other people due to some nasty infection. Why that couldn’t have been taken care of at home, who knows?
Since her landlord paid her a visit, I’m guessing she hadn’t bothered to pay the rent, either. The landlord noticed the windows were all open in Pennsylvania in the winter. First clue. On her second visit she opened the apartment and found the dead dog, and called police. A fan was also running, apparently to diffuse the smell of rotting german shepherd. The dog was found without food or water, in a cage, with her snout and teeth intertwined in the bars as she either tried to chew her way out, or snack on metal cage bars- not really nutritious.
The apartment had numerous overflowing cat litter boxes and 4 cats were found inside as well.
It’s estimated the dog had been dead for 2 to 4 weeks.
Now, here’s the really big clue- the cats were not dead. Yet cats cannot live for 2 to 4 weeks with no food or water. Google how long it takes to starve or dehydrate a dog or cat. Do the math.
Meaning- SOMEONE was feeding the cats but not the dog. The boyfriend has not been arrested as far as I can tell- only this bitch.
Innocent people rarely change their stories, even if they are hard to believe. Guilty people change their stories like pantiliners.
I’m glad it’s ruined her life. She ruined her dog’s life. I hope it ruins her life some more. People who hate on animals are tehe same people who hate on children and women…. because they are bullies, cowards and need to pick on the weaker or more innocent. Imagine if this POS had spawned children. Be glad her life has been ruined before that happened.
I had pets before I had children. Now I put my children before my pets. But that doesn’t mean it’s ok for them to be abused or killed, just because they aren’t my biological children. It’s not an either/or, crazy people!
People who abuse animals are bad people. Whether you hate them because they are cruel to animals (because you love animals), or because it’s a given that those nasty kind of people eventually will abuse people/children (because you only love people), doesn’t matter. Hate away.
One more reason to pass laws preventing people who have been convicted of abusing animals/children/people from owning animals EVER after their convictions. It might even be smarter to start having a AA registration, same as SO registration. It would certainly tell you who to keep your children away from.

It says nothing that would make it appear that one could not stay in one’s apartment and avoid starving your dog to death over a 2-4 week period.
I call foul. Not that she couldn’t have had some kind of nasty chancre or sore- she looks capable- just that the timeline of claiming MRSA doesn’t give her enough time to excuse starving her dog to death.

There was garbage strewn around, cat feces piled over a foot high in places, and rat feces on the carpeting. The cats had apparently chewed open bags of catfood as well as eaten garbage. I am going to guess the reason the cats did not die is because of that, and that they probably had access to a dripping faucet or the toilet bowl, luxuries poor Mya did not have, being locked in a cage.
She blames this on her boyfriend, claims she did go feed the cats, saw a sheet over the dog cage (but didn’t think to look under it?) implying the boyfriend did it…. the same boyfriend she later was staying with? Her boyfriend sarved her dog, yet she’s staying with him? NOT FUCKING LIKELY. More likely he’s stupid and letting her blame him because she puts out.

I simply do not understand the people who have posted saying that it’s ridiculous to be concerned about an animal being starved to death in its cage as it desperately tries to escape to find food. I do not understand the people who have posted to say that until all the problems of the world involving humans have been solved it is inappropriate to be outraged by evil against animals.
