This is Matthew Teymont of Barnegat, New Jersey. Matthew is a former police dispatcher and compassionate animal lover. Whoops, my bad. Matthew is a heartless, selfish, despicable excuse for a self-proclaimed animal caregiver.
When he and his wife Amanda began to have financial problems and fall behind on their mortgage, what do you think he did? They packed up their family and moved out of their house, taking all of their possessions with them. Minus a few items; namely approximately 68 dogs, cats, turtles, ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. Investigators at least think they were ferrets, but they are not certain because they were so badly decomposed.
Matthew took his family and abandoned the animals that he professed to be helping to die slow and painful deaths from starvation and dehydration. Animals were left in cages with absolutely no chance to escape and fend for themselves.
When a locksmith sent by the mortgage company went to the residence to change the locks, he called police because of the overpowering stench. After police retrieved a search warrant, they entered the home and discovered what Sgt. Thomas Yanisko of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals called, “a fly-infested, maggot-infested tomb.” Investigators found piles of bones, fur and feces throughout the resident. Bodies of dead animals were found in plastic bags, a freezer, inside cages, and lying on the floor throughout the residence.
Both Matthew and Amanda both pleaded guilty to animal abuse charges. Amanda was sentenced to 100 hours of community service. Superior Court Judge Barbara Ann Villano sentenced Matthew to five years of probation and 250 hours of community service saying that she did not believe incarceration was warranted. Oh, and she banned him from having contact with animals ever again.
Now I am no card-carrying member of PETA (although I am a vegetarian and I love animals dearly), but five years probation and 250 hours of community service for killing 68 helpless animals? Come on.
This man left these poor, defenseless animals to die agonizing deaths instead of picking up the phone and calling someone. There are plenty of organizations throughout the United States that would have gladly taken all of the animals and sent them into shelters or foster situations. Instead, this lazy, selfish bastard left them to die and rot. And his punishment? A slap on the wrist, and a “bad boy” admonishment from a Superior Court Judge.
Not Good Enough.
We have a responsibility as stewards of this earth to protect all creatures, human and animal, that cannot defend themselves. Hopefully, karma will come around and bite him in the ass, with really big teeth.
Editor’s Note: Believe it or not, Matthew Teymont is also a Emergency Medical Technician and a member of 4-H, and his father is a retired K-9 police officer. When he was interviewed by cops after his arrest, Teymont told them he was running a rescue operation and had been trying to adopt some of the animals out. The police also interviewed his friends, who described him as a real animal lover. Nothing in his past points to him ever doing something like what he did to these 68 creatures, and we may never know what made Matthew snap. One thing I do know; Whatever good will he earned by his past behavior doesn’t mean much in the face of cages filled with bones and rotting remains.

disgusting!
I am a HUGE animal lover and stories like this make me sick to my stomache. These two worthless wastes of human life could have atleast given the animals a fighting chance by letting them loose, but instead they leave them locked in cages. i also agree that no jail time for either one of them is an absolute travesty of our justice system. i understand that animals are considered beneath us (i dont know why since THEY were here first, but wutever), but i mean cmon, this jackass judge could have pretended to give a shit and given them some county jail time. ohh, and no contact with animals, huh? well considering all the pedos working in schools, i am assuming that that will not be enforced. i hope these two pieces of shit get attacked by an angry pittbull in heat!!

Animals in the freezer??? WTF!! They deserve jail time, and not to be coddled because he used to be a police dispatcher. I hope their community service does NOT involve volunteering at animal shelters! It should begin with their having to thoroughly clean the house where they abandoned the animals–crap and carcasses and all–without being allowed to cover their noses.

Ok, if the stuff about comming back as another lifeform is true, imagine you came back as one of the caged-in animals. You’re sitting there starving and rotting away. But oh, that asshole that walks upright meant well? So do you just die with a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart?

I myself as a hugh animal lover and my mini zoo of 6 cats 2 hampsters a dog and a turtle can’t belive what a fucknut this guy is…I myself would go hungry before I would let my animals go hungry…I go without extras for myself to take very good care of my pets and in return they give my love and companionship…my bed is filled with no less than 2 cats and the dog (along with the hubby and the kid) but it is usually 4 cats and the dog. I know my cats love me because every time they are near me they purr…how coud you let gosh even when I go to the turtle tank she chips. How can a normal human let an animal starve (let alone 68!!!!) its just too bad our justice system didn’t use the old eye for an eye punishment…I bet a lot of criminals would think twice if their sentence was the same as what they did to something or someone.
I think that what they did to those animals was disgusting, inhumane, and completely cruel. If he knew so much about animals by affiliation with 4H, it makes it all the worse. He looks like a dorky pie boy, too. Lucky for him, he ISNT is prison.
His, and his mutant wife’s sentences were far too lenient. I think that the laws and punishments for the blatent and cruel torture of animals by asstards like this need to be more severe.
Thanks Blondie, for being an advocate to our animal pals, by writing this story. I hope that others see how vile this is. I hope they see how this douche and his douche suppository of a fuckbag for a wife got off basically free and clear for their actions. It isnt okay with me when people torture and cause suffering purposefully.

He shoud have at least left the doors open to the cages and the house so the animals may have had a chance to go free. Sure many would have died outside, but such deaths are better than trying to gnaw through a cage while dehydrated…..

I had a cat that I needed to get rid of because, despite the fact he was neutered, he was stil spraying…… The nearest place that would take him was 100 miles away…. He was adopted the next day.
Great point. I’d be sick to my stomach if I left and let my cat roam free, but I have the feeling somebody would take him in. He’s pretty crafty when it comes to shaking down humans for food!

glad i can say that any animal that lives with me has the best possible life. when you care for animals, you are responsible for their well being. i can’t believe how little he got punished, i thought that for every single case of proven animal cruelty you can get up to 1 year in prison, since he killed almost 60, i’d imagine that should warrant some serious jail time, but i guess the judge saw that a bit different.

That’s so disgusting. Even had he called the Humane Society, maybe few would have been put down, but it would have been more humane than starving to death trapped in a cage surrounded by the stench of your dying companions.
Seriously, community service is not enough of a punishment. He should have to atone for this, and not by picking up refuse from the damned freeway. I also find it sadly ironic that he left those animals to starve to death… but looks so exceedingly well fed himself.

Utterly disgusting. There is simply no excuse that validates what these “people” (and I use the term loosely) did. As I read the story, I tried to imagine all those animals slowly dying as the days dragged on. The suffering they must have endured. Brings a tear to my eye.
I remember seeing this story on another site. Simply repulsive. I try not to hate people, but assholes like this make it really easy to do so! How could you do this to all of these poor animals. Animals will love you unconditionally no matter what as long as you treat them with decency and kindness. They don’t care how rich or poor you are, what you may have done in the past, or what you plan to do in the future. I would go hungry before I let my animals go hungry. I have four dogs, a cat and two turtles. I am about to get another cat (and a mother-in-law), and I would love to have more animals if I just had more room. It pisses me off to no end to know what these animals suffered through. There was no reason for this to have happened. These selfish asses could have taken all of them to their local shelter or humane society or even gave them away to others that would have wanted them – it simply boils down to sheer laziness on their part. These stories about animals always make me cry and nothing pisses me off more than when I cry!
OH NO….my heart is sickened over this because……this guy was my friend (in all honestly one of my BEST friends) all through elementary school and early highschool before we moved away. We lost contact in college (10 years ago). I am so heart-sick I can’t even tell you. Is this really true? I have so much trouble believing this as Matt was such a wonderful guy back then. WHAT HAPPENED? Even though I was his friend, I am NOT sticking up for him in the least. I am beyond disapointed and just can’t believe this….it makes you think about the people you thought you once knew. I obviously didn’t know him at all. Wow…

It would’ve been bad enough if this idiot had just abandoned them, a la Nicole Spatig, but to discover that there were bodies in plastic bags and in freezers and cages and such shows that he knew what was going on and didn’t seem to do anything to stop it. I’d imagine the state of the place should’ve tipped him off as well.
My question is: how long were these animals left there? Were they already in such a tortured state before he left or was he an active participant in their decay? Either way is terrible, but if he was there, with that place in the condition it was, it’s way worse.
